Joker is a waste of spot.
Sure he may be cool since any character in Super Smash Bros. is cool or whatever but come on... Name a Pesona game that came out on Nintendo consoles and was serious. Maybe I just haven't done my research but seriously... If this is going to be about what's popular and what's selling well despite the platform and developers, etc. then the next DLC characters should be Steve from Minecraft, "Call of Duty dude" and IDK, but you get my point. I honestly feel like Sub-Zero has a bigger chance on being in Super Smash Bros. despite the conflicting content Nintendo doesn't want in their games. But at least Mortal Kombat has it's fair shine on Nintendo. My point is, Sub-Zero has a 0% chance. Persona should have a -100% chance. XD IDC if you like the series but I just feel like if you think this was a good idea, then you think Steve is, too then. I really can not see the difference. Someone please enlighten me.
Now I know it is a similar situation to Snake, Cloud and MAYBE Ryu/Ken and Richter/Simon.
I feel like Snake is really hard to justify. He really never came on out a Nintendo console and seriously... IDK who asked for him anyway. The only justification he has is 1: a personal one in which if the insanely talented designers of Metal Gear Solid were not working under shitty Konami, it actually would probably be on Nintendo as well as the rest and sell just as beautifully. And 2: Just like all of the rest, I guess the innovative Metal Gear Solid series is a landmark/icon in the popular video game series... But it is hard to JUST on this because, again... Steve, Call of Duty dude and some Master chief. certainly none in which belong in Super Smash Bros. and none can argue.
For Cloud it is the same. Landmark/icon in popular video game industry. JUST like Steve. XD
But yeah. Back to the point. What do you guys think? He's probably a loved character in Persona but the recent entries in the series weren't on any Nintendo console and I honestly don't see Persona being "LANDMARKED". Not even as what is called a "JRPG". I look at Chrono Trigger, Final Fantasy and such being LANDMARKED. EVEN AS a "JRPG" or whatever. Certainly not Persona. Maybe today it is a landmark, maybe yesterday as well... But really? For DECADES AND DECADES it is a landmark? Yeah it was on the PS2 but I feel like the earlier entries were more obscure than the later. Aside from the fans who absolutely HAIL this game from the heavens since the birth of Persona, I think more people had their PS2 to play many other games instead. Maybe not their PS4. And maybe it got a bunch of attention on PS3... But when a game blows up on PS4, I think it does not deserve "Landmark" just yet since it is too new. Similar to Shovel Knight. But at least Nintendo knew not to make him a PLAYABLE CHARACTER. An Assist Trophy is like "Honorable mention+" to me. Kafei would be an Assist Trophy while Link would be a fighter. See my point? But at least Shovel Knight came out on Nintendo consoles, multiple at that. I'm sure you guys would see differently.
If you really love Persona, the hype would probably cloud the points I am making or maybe you see them as not making sense? Either way, what do you guys think? I really want someone to explain how Persona characters being in Super Smash Bros. is very different than Steve from Minecraft being there. But Steve is far more popular even on Nintendo consoles than anyone from Persona. so why not Steve? I think that is obvious why not. But apparently it is not obvious from Nintendo?
I would rather have seen more "Nintendo" faces than Call of Duty dude who profits more on NOT Nintendo consoles and who only had very few entries on Nintendo consoles. And if you want to talk about going down the Metal Gear Solid path, then at least get "Landmarked" characters if it is not going to be owned by Nintendo or exclusive to Nintendo. Look at Ryu and Ken. I don't think anyone can argue they belong their. Except they are both CAPCOM and CAPCOM releases everyone on every console and ports it 400 times. xD What do you guys think? And what could make my points more valid? And what do you think can shoot my points down? Let's discuss it. :]
FUN FACT: I also felt the same about Ridley and Inkling when they launched the first trailer. They SPECIFICALLY said "I hope you did not expect many newcomers, we put more effort into bringing back all of the original characters." When they said that I was like "So we only get 2 new characters? That's cool but Ridley does not belong as a character despite what people want and Splatoon is a good selling Nintendo game.... That will become 99% obsolete when the online services end." ._. 2 very odd choices. If there was only TWO spots they should be picked more reasonably and be a bit more special. But then they announced their were more characters so it was definitely justified.
P.S.: Landmarked means, to me, a very familiar face. I can ask anyone and they know the person or something. And I don't mean Landmarked because it just came out and has so much steam and attention. Landmarked meaning it has really been fresh and kicking for a very long time. I do not feel Persona is that series that, before the PS3, anyone could really say it is landmarked or they heard of it from any corner or block.
EDIT: Just did a tiny bit more research and found out Persona is a spinoff of Shin Megami Tensei which is huge on Nintendo consoles. IF this is true then my argument basically rests... XD I still would love you guys' opinions.
