Hi guys :
Do the controller update come with the cfw or the firmware update?

I have some troubles with controller battery level. When I'm playing I've the "low controller battery" notification but when I go to the controller menu, battery level is fine. Also I'm not sure that my controller are charging when they are on the console.... Do you think its probably a software issue or an hardware issue?

Thx

I picked up a used switch that was previously "hacked" and there are some backups already installed on it via SX OS. The owner did not make a nand backup and didn't even know what that was. Got a good deal, but I want to start this switch from scratch as it is a gift.

Is there any way to removed all "hacks", exploits, installed games, etc. from the switch so that I can start over as if the switch is brand new. i.e. I want to make a fresh nand backup and give them a fresh system. I remember seeing a post on here describing a way to remove all signs of "hacking" from the switch, but I cannot find it, nor do I know if it actually did what the poster claimed.

Quick question: I want my card to be formatted in exfat. I did this on the computer. I placed everything needed for the hack onto my SD card. Now, do I need to update the SD card first on my switch (the "system update" message pops up when I insert the SD card on the regular firmware)? If so, does updating the firmware over the internet mess up anything for the hack? My switch is currently running 4.1.

Basically, update exfat, but not update firmware.

A thought I had, can I update the SD card on another switch and use that card on mine?

No because it isn't the sd card, it is the switch. The exfat is a special firmware update that needs to be enabled

Format the card back to fat f32 then use this

https://gbatemp.net/threads/choiduj...ller-homebrew-for-the-nintendo-switch.513416/

you need to find the firmware you want and install with exfat firmware using that program. Then you can reformat the sd card as exfat

Super noob here! This might be a really stupid question for the veterans here but what does it mean to "burn fuses"?

I would have picked a more idiot friendly name, because to me it sounds like it is burning/destroying something, as in you can't get it back working. etc. I will assume that isn't the case, but can some please ELI5.

Thank you in advance. Cheers!

Is the Blocking Updates guide on switch.hacks.guide still the way to block updates from Nintendo? When I try that, on the initial connection test, it connects to my router, and then when it tries to get an outside network, it tells me "registration required" and that there's an update available. Have the DNS addresses to use been updated since that guide was written?

Thank you for your reply. I've read it and it doesn't explain what "burn" means in this context, so I'm still clueless.

basically in the cpu there are microscopic fuses, when you update normally, one of these gets burnt/fizz;es/breaks/etc. If a fuse is burnt and you try to downgrade (normally) the console panics

Once again, thank you for replying

So, after it is "burnt" does it become unusable? And also, would this negatively impact my Switch in any way?

Please understand how impactful this sounds to an ignorant person like me. I appreciate your patience.

The console knows how many fuses it has, and how many are burnt with each firmware.

Okay so you power on your 5.1 console and it sees the firmware requires 6 fuses to be burnt to boot, but it has 5 burnt. It will go and burn another fuse and boot
The next time it powers on with 5.1, it expects 6 fuses and checks. since it burnt fuse 6 last time, this matches and the console proceeds to boot
You accidentally upgrade to 6.1 and it burns another fuse bringing the count to 7
You then downgrade the console back to 5.1
The expected fuse count is 6, the actual fuse count is 7, if you were to boot the console normally, it would panic because the expected number and the actual number don't match and it can't fix it.
You then decide to upgrade back to 6.1, you boot the console and it will now boot without panicing because the expect count matches the actual count

Does this make sense?

100% thank you!! So Nintendo is the one burning the fuses with some updates! (At least that's what I understood)

The rest made a lot of sense to me. Thank you so much for taking your time to explain this to me!

So I got the overclocked Retroarch and all n64 games, such as Banjo & Kazooie, Pokemon Stadium, et. al., run perfectly. I've overclocked it to the maximum allowed (1.7ghz I believe it was) How big are the risks of 'expanded battery'? I don't play it on the TV, only hand held (I don't know if that makes a difference). I know the battery drain will be quicker, which is totally fine there's no lasting damage. But if it expands it might up hurting the hardware inside correct?

Does anybody have any idea?
