Huh, so it seems. I never realized Goomba (*) had support for borders because I hardly ever use it - I usually just use my EDGB.
Yea, I can understand that. The major reason I made the point is that Goomba Color in striving to support Gameboy Color games has resulted in slightly different behavior in emulation in a variety of cases on Gameboy games*, and it's enough that some people (like me) prefer to use Goomba specifically over Goomba Color in those cases. The other reason, of course, is that I made a whole fork of Goomba to add a lot more custom palette/border support, and that's rather nice to use for Gameboy games as it grants more flexibility. Having said that, later versions of Goomba Color added a bunch of palettes as well, so at least that end of it is similar.
I know it sounds like somewhat pointless quibbling, but for some people it might be useful to know or consider. I definitely understand using the short-hand of Goomba refering to both Goomba and Goomba Color, and I do the same with PocketNES even though the "official" version vs the latest version by Dwedit are quite different (including improved compatibility, speed improvements, etc).
It's funny you bring up the EDGB as it looks quite nice. Even though I have a GB Bridge+F2A, I don't actually use it very much because Goomba/Goomba Color are pretty amazingly good. The other thing is the GB Bridge+F2a are a lot more limited than the Everdrive GB. If I owned a GBC, I'd be very tempted to buy one. But, then I'm tempted to buy lots of stuff I don't really need.
* I have no idea if this actually results in substantially different behavior except to the extent that there are some quirks between the GBC vs GB and I don't think Goomba Color avoids recreating those quirks for Gameboy only games. So, basically, it's more (an probably overly) cautious choice since Goomba as an option is available and for people who already have an EZ4 isn't much of a burden if you've already made a lot of compilations.
