Hekate has exFat restore capability only for now. My clean NAND is of 4.1.0 without exFat drivers. If I install the exFat drivers without updating and restore my clean NAND, would my nintendo switch will be exactly like the time I took backup or it will still have exFat drivers?

My goal is to do a small save edit and remove the mods/cfw etc, just want to do a check before i start anything, can you let me know what I am missing and stuff in my steps.

I should create a nand backup by dumping and saving it to a computer.
After that, I restore the nand backup and clear logs which restarts my switch. Clear my SD

Side question : I can use ReinX for this right or does only hekate allow restoration?

No.
There are logs on your switch, which will get sent to Nintendo if you connect to the internet. Also there could be traces from the nsp Installation like a invalid ticket.

You have to restore a pre homebrew nand backup

Alright, thanks. Is it possible to use another switch's nand backup to restore on my switch?

Hi all.

I'm using the software 4nxci to convert a couple of XCI files into NSP format so I can install them.

I've just done Sonic Mania Plus and there are 3 separate NSP Files that have been created. I'm sure one of them is an update partition that's been separated, but I'm not sure which of them is. As for the other 2, not entirely sure... Is there anyone that can help me understand what's what here?

The NSP's are as follows:
  • 01009aa000faa000.nsp
  • 01009aa000faa800.nsp
  • 01009aa000fab001.nsp
Also, the XCI was 2GB (Basically) in size. 2 of these files, the first and second one, are about 200MB, the third is only 117kb. Does this seem right? Is an NSP file trimmed down including no garbage data?

Thanks.

Hey there! If I create an Emunand on my SD and only play offline on it, and still wanted to play online on my Sysnand, is that possible? Or is it still a huge risk to get banned? I just want to be able to play Pokemon and a few other single player games and to mess around with homebrew but keep my sysnand normal to be able to play Smash online. I plan on using SX OS as it looks like the best one so far. My switch is currently on 6.1.0 and it is a hackable switch but I have not started the hacking process yet. I want to get all my information straight before I jump into it, so I don't brick or get an insta ban. Thanks!

Hello.
My NAND backups are barely compressable, since my NANDs space has previously been used up by games and such. So I´m wondering whether there´s a way to remove the "unnecissary data" from the backup? Or alternatively only backup boot0/ boot1 and eMMC SYS, provided that´s sufficient, and if so; would that make a difference when compressing? Thanks in advance.

ok so i have two switches now, switch no.1 was 'brewed but got console banned and switch no.2 is new and completely clean from any hacks. I unlinked my account myself using the eshop method and linked it to my new switch so i could keep my legitimately purchased games.

My question is; if i now install nsps on my old switch (and do other hacks), is there any possibility my new switch gets banned too? I'm very reluctant to do any more modifications without peace of mind that my account is 100% gone from my old switch. (I am not going to absolutely any hacks to my new switch.)
Thanks!

So, I've got two switches. One is a 3.0 that I'm holding out hope for a coldboot hack being released, the other is a non-patched 4.1.0+ that my cousin is currently borrowing (he says he hasn't updated it but I can't verify that, so I'm going to assume worst case scenario and say that it's 6.2 for the purposes of this). I'm planning on buying Smash Bros when it comes out, ideally being able to play it on both systems, and later online with the non-3.0 system. With the game having been revealed to work on FW 5.1, what do I need to do to safely (IE still able to revert to 3.0) play the game on my older system? (I realize there are guides for how to back up your nand and update the switch without burning fuses, just want to be sure of it before I risk a possible CB-friendly firmware).

Additionally, can I use the same game cart, or will the higher FW Switch mark the cart to insist I update when I put it into the lower FW Switch?

When you backup a nand are all your saves from when you saved the nand? Meaning if you restored it, you'd lose all saves since you backed up the nand?

Hey Everyone.

I have an issue and was hoping i can get some help. What happened

- Had fw 3.0.1
- performed full nand backup (but verification never finished appearently) no new backup was performed (yes im an idiot)
- installed cfw and some games
- clicked something and updated to 6.2
- tried to do nand restore with the 3 files
- full restore was running for atleast 3 hrs and stuck at 61% on verification.
- turned off then back on and tried running reinx cfw get cfw splashscreen then switch logo. Then i get a message saying there was an issues and please power down. It says fw 3.0.1 and serial at the bottom.

Im currently trying to do a restore with no verification.

Can anything be done? At this point i dont care if its 6.2.

Thanks

Hi all, I've been doing some research and I'm hoping someone can verify that I'm on the right track.

My current situation is that I have a clean NAND backup (no homebrew / CFW at all) created using Hekate CTCaer, and an NSP installed on the NAND via Tinfoil / ReiNX. Throughout the entire duration of running this airplane mode has been on and all wifi settings have been deleted.

Based on this info, can someone confirm that I've got the following right:
1. If I restore the NAND from this backup, I should be safe to go online.
2. The only way to get the save file off of the current NAND is using Edizon / Checkpoint
3. Because running Edizon / Checkpoint requires running CFW, there's no way to put the save file back on without risking a ban

its not 100% safe to go online after hacking your switch and restoring it ofw. nintendo really brought their A-game to security this time around.

best solution is to buy another switch, so that way you'll have a ofw switch and a hacked one. ofc this is a costly solution

Does anyone know if there is a game cart that has the 5.1 firmware update on it and can update from the cart?

My 4.1 switch fails to launch several games since I updated to sx os 2.0 but my wife's 5.1 switch runs everything perfectly.

Would happily buy whatever game has the 5.1 update on it so that I can update from cart.

It's so much easier and I feel safer updating the firmware from the cart rather than other methods.
