I'm buying a hacked Nintendo Switch for $70 and was wondering what it would take to completely remove all hacks and start from scratch?
I'm going to ask if he has a NAND backup, but if not, any other way to get it back to default?

Well, since you're getting a Switch for $70 first thing you should worry about is if it's usable or not.

It's from a boyfriend of a friend of mine, so I've seen it, and it's in basically new condition.

Also, you might want to check if the console was banned.
He got it banned, and that's why he's selling it for cheap. I already have a switch to take online, so this is mostly just to play with.

Thing is, I don't really trust his hacking "skills", so I want to hack it myself. Hence why I want to clean it up

Well, there's only really one way to hack the Switch and that is by using AutoRCM with a payload. The payload decides what CFW is loaded, so if you want to update the CFW or switch to ReiNX then just grab the newest payload (and update the CFW files on SD if needed)
Nothing is permanently installed to the Switch so if you really want to start over, just wipe the SD card, but it's not needed. You can't really hack it wrong, it either works or it doesn't.

Oh sweet, I didn't realize that nothing modifies the switch.
Appreciate the info! :)

Backup the SD to your computer then reformat the SD. Put the new blank SD in your switch. Then factory reset the switch. Dont join it to wifi yet. Look at the system firmware version then come back here and report. We'll give you next steps

He didn't hack anything, he followed the same directions everyone else did, otherwise it wouldn't work.

it will cost you $70 only for hacking the switch,i don't believe that you can get a useful switch at that nice price.

The only thing home-brew installs is really just log files it has left over from crashing, Heres my suggestion however. I would not sell that switch personally (would just use it as is, online is overrated) however,

GameStop will take Nintendo switches for 200 dollars instore credit still (it does NOT matter if you are banned) They are doing it to collect HAC-001 switches for fusee gelee. If you're ok with that then you can get unbanned that easily for the cost of an extra 80-100 dollars (300 dollars about with that trade in, trading up to a new nintendo switch).
