I haven't seen any reports no. However, downloading from eShop DOES cause a ticket check for the game you're downloading if you didn't buy it there is a good chance you could be banned if you downloaded the DLC/Update through the actual eShop page. Updating a game from the HomeMenu doesn't cause a ticket check, it just checks the current installed version so update games that way. Visiting the eShop page will again cause a ticket check, and require you to download the full game as an update (not true for all games). Personally, I refuse to download anything from eShop for a pirated game. Find a warez site and download the DLC/Updates as stand alone .CIAs and install them that way. In that regard, visiting the eShop after doing so will cause all Illegitimate DLC/Official Themes to disappear.

Rule of thumb as of 11.8, if the game is pirated NEVER visit it's eShop page. Or the eShop at all unless you plan on making a legitimate purchase.

Hi. I just bought an old 3ds and the seller did not tell me it was previously hacked. Now, it is on firmware 11.6 but it has FBI app installed. It can boot with sd card fine. If I try to hold select+ power when booting up it does nothing. I don't know if it is still hacked or what crw it has. Previous owner is not very helpful. Any guides I can follow to make use of the FBI app installed already? Any help for a noob like me will be very much appreciated.

Hey guys

I did a system transfer from an o3DS with CFW (11.8) to a N3DSXL which I then also installed CFW on.

The o3DS I'm keeping but the SD card got wiped during the transfer (backed it up) I would like to renew the CFW and get homebrew going again.
I get an error when trying to install the HBL via the steelminer method, the files from sd backup from before the system transfer doesn't renew the HBL. I saved the gm9/out files during the initial CFW setup but have no idea how to re-CFW an o3DS to get homebrew going again

Please help!

You don't hold power, you just hold select and press power once. It opens the Luma configuration menu. Update your console to 11.8 and then go HERE and download Luma v 9.1 extract the boot.firm to the root of your SD card. You'll be good to go. Afterwards, visit this section of the guide to get the most recent version of FBI as well as other "necessary" apps... https://3ds.hacks.guide/finalizing-setup

You can't use steelminer with Luma3DS. You can only use Rosalina or the .CIA. That said, all your files will still work except the encrypted Nintendo 3DS folder on the O3DS. Go to the finalizing setup link I posted above.

I tried that now, it justs boots up straight to home menu. Even if I remove the sd card still boots up to home menu. Is it safe to proceed with the update and do the rest of that guide? Thank you for a very prompt response.

Did the seller include the original SD card? Even if they didn't can you post a pic of the root of your SD card. It was either hacked for CFW or standalone homebrew. Try to hold start, then press power without letting go of start and tell me what happens.

FBI can't be installed as a stand alone app without CFW, so you more than likely have Luma but it's being loaded from your CTRNAND and not the SD card. Either way, the config menu should appear when you hold select. If it doesn't, then it makes me think your FBI is an injected app, but again wouldn't be installed or even work on 11.6 without CFW anyway

Nope. I think he just made an excuse that the original 32gb card included was corrupted and gave me a 2gb sd card from an old android device he had instead. I tried booting up holding start button, it still got me to home menu.

This is what the sd card directory looks like from fbi app.

Do you have a PC? Do you have the Health and Safety app? If yes to both than the console is hacked. It's odd the Luma config won't populate. Anyway, if you have a PC download GodMode9 from here https://github.com/d0k3/GodMode9/releases..... Then create a directory on your SD card /luma/payloads/ and place the godmode9.firm inside :/luma/payloads..... Then hold start (don't let go) and press power while still holding start. If it's an O3DS you need to press FIRMLY and hold the key down.

Health and Safety app is not available at my home menu. I have a PC. I'll try to download GodMode9 first and update you. Thank you so much. You are so helpful.

Is there a way to pull a serial number from a NAND dump? I was organizing my old data and came across NAND dumps from a few friends and family's 3DSes I've helped mod over the last few years. I'd like to keep them, as if something goes bad, I can still restore their systems still (they aren't typically the kinds to keep backups in a safe place, so I doubt they have the copies I gave anymore). Being able to pull the serials will sort out whose .BIN file belongs to what console.

Did you rename the backups? The filename should contain the serial – in recent versions at least.

If anybody knows a better way, please tell. This is NOT an elegant way, but it works:

With GodMode9:
The serial is stored inside the file
[1:SYSNAND CTRNAND]:/rw/sys/SecureInfo_A
If you open it in the hex-editor you get a lot of binary gibberish and on the very end of the (short) file is the serial.
GodMode9 is able to mount nand.bin images – but only from the same console. If you try to mount an image and you can browse it like [SYSNAND CTRNAND], it fits for the console.

With a computer:
Set up your computer according to this tutorial and mount the NAND-image(s) with fuse-3ds and OSFMount (on Windows, Linux should be able to mount the image files with "-o bind" as mount option). Then navigate to /rw/sys/SecureInfo_A and open the file in a text editor.

I’m on a firmware that I can use homebrew-launcher-(soundhax) or the all versions can with Ntr boot that I think need a flash cart.

What will be the difference on the two methods is one cfw and the other flash cart?
Would is the difference and best way?

It could be browser hack installed and either incomplete or failed. 3DS may appear normal but will eventually show signs of a bad hack.

You don't want my help for that

If you have FBI, does it run and what version? If you can let others know the versions of any apps (non-oem) could help determine the state of your system. I wouldn't try too much without verifying here 1st to prevent a brick.

Fbi is on version 2.4.2, and yes it runs. I am really clueless.

Hey guys,

I have a New 3DS with everything set up (Luma, B9S, FBI, Homebrew Launcher injected through Download Play), but I can no longer access the Rosalina menu. Nothing happens when I press Select + L + Down on the home menu or in Download Play. Any idea what the issue might be?
I'm on 11.8 with B9S 1.3 and Luma 9.1.
