How to setup Emunand/ keep Sysnand online

YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
Aiming of having Emunand in this topic is to max out Sysnand to play online while Emunand stays offline

IF YOUR SYSTEM WAS BANNED YOU'D STOP READING FROM HERE
> DO NOT check whether you're got banned yet by connecting to the Internet or so.

There is always at least a risk to get you banned or unlikely to brick your Switch.
YOU'RE AT YOUR OWN RISK
I TAKE NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES OR BAN.

> Backup RawNand and BOOT0/1 using SX Bootloader, Hekate or any trusted tools out there

1. NEW EMUNAND
YOU HAVE TO RE-INSTALL ALL GAMES AFTER CREATING EMUNAND
> Backup all your savedata using Checkpoint or your trusted homebrew.
Follow these steps below
  1. CLEAN UP SYSNAND
  2. UPDATE SYSNAND FIRMWARE
  3. CREATE EMUNAND
  4. UPDATE EMUNAND FIRMWARE OFFLINE (if needed)
to update your emunand to the latest firmware
2. KEEP DATA TO TRANSFER TO EMUNAND
> Backup all your savedata using Checkpoint or your trusted homebrew.
Follow these steps below
  1. CREATE EMUNAND
  2. CLEAN UP SYSNAND
  3. UPDATE SYSNAND FIRMWARE
  4. UPDATE EMUNAND FIRMWARE OFFLINE (if needed)
to update your emunand to the latest firmware

This guide is valid until the next update of NSW firmware or SX OS.
> Current NSW firmware: 6.1
> Current SX OS version: 2.3 Beta

> AutoRCM must be Uninstalled > Functional Jig is needed
> Delete all Wifi Profiles
> NEW EMUNAND > Delete Nintendo folder in your SD
> KEEP DATA > Rename Nintendo folder in your SD to Emutendo
> Copy boot.dat (SX 2.3 Beta) to the root of your SD

CLEAN UP SYSNAND
Skip this step if your Switch is a brand new one or never ever been hacked.

+ Unnecessary steps but it will let you feel safer
Access NAND using PC

What you will need
- biskeydump
https://files.sshnuke.net/biskeydumpv6.zip
Run the payload and write down (or scan QRCode) Bis Key 2
BIS KEY 2 (crypt): NUMBERS
BIS KEY 2 (tweak): NUMBERS

- memloader
https://files.sshnuke.net/memloaderv2.zip
Copy *.* in [sample] folder to SD and plug it in the Switch
Run the payload [memloader.bin]
Unplug any USB cable
> Choose emmc line
> Plug USB C <> USB A cable to the Switch and PC

- HacDiskMount
https://files.sshnuke.net/HacDiskMount1055.zip
Run the tool under Administrator permission
> Open Physical Disk > Choose Linux line
> Double click on SYSTEM and fill BisKeys2 in the small table on top
Crysto > BIS KEY 2 (crypt): NUMBERS
Tweak > BIS KEY 2 (tweak): NUMBERS
> Press on [Test] > you will get OK! Entropy
> From Drive Letter table > Choose a drive disk, N for example.
> Press on [Mount]
Install driver if needed.
Acess N drive from My Computer

+ Clean Ticketblob
> access save folder
> Copy 80000000000000e1 and 80000000000000e2 to your PC.
> Delete them in save folder

+ Clean Error Logs
> access save folder
> Delete 80000000000000D1

> Press on [Unmount] and unplug the USB cable
> Press on [Power] button for 15s or so to reboot the system

+ Factory Restore Settings
> This will clean all ticketblob and error logs
Stay OFFLINE
> Settings > System > Factory Restore Settings (or System Initializing)
> Say NO when asking Internet connection
> Press on on the red button after all to restore.

UPDATE SYSNAND FIRMWARE
Skip this step if your Switch is up to date.

Complete the system initializing
> Connect Wifi to the Internet
> Optional > Create a new account and link it
> Settings > System > System Update
> Update your system to the latest firmware

Optional > Factory Restore Settings while staying ONLINE to make it completely cleans up.

DELETE ALL WIFI CONNECTION AND STAY AIRPLANE MODE.
> After creating Emunand, it must have NO CONNECTION.

CREATE EMUNAND
SD card must be plugged in to the system in order to boot SX OS Bootloader Menu

> On SX 2.3 Beta, the Emunand will be created on the SD card, the SX's Nintendo folder is renamed to Emutendo so that it won't affect to the keyblobs that can wipe out data on SD.

> Boot to SX OS Bootloader Menu (payload.bin) by holding [Vol+] button
> Option
> EmuNAND
> Advanced
> [Copy USER partition to EmuNAND] > [YES]
The process will take about 30 minutes if the system is now empty.

You will get Success

> Back to the main menu (3 big buttons)
> Turn on Emunand (on top of the first button)

> Turn off the system

UPDATE EMUNAND FIRMWARE OFFLINE
> ChoiDujourNX https://files.sshnuke.net/ChoiDujourNXv101.zip
> Copy ChoiDujourNX.nro to \switch\ in your SD
> Download new firmware update
> Place all files to a folder, fwxxx for example
> Run ChoiDujourNX form Homebrew Menu on Emunand
> Choose fwxxx folder
It will load all NCAs inside of the folder and will ask you
[x.x.x] or [x.x.x-exfat]
Choose one
It will continually analyze the data and will ask you
> Choose [Select Firmware]
It will read all the data from your chosen firmware
> Press on Prevent fuse burning (enable AutoRCM) to turn it off (we don't need AutoRCM when having Sysnand for online purpose), Press on Yes when it asks again.
If you'd like to have AutoRCM installed just leave it be.
> Press on [Start installation]
> [Reboot] > [Shutdown]

ENJOY WHILE IT LASTS

Hey,

I'm buying a switch today, finally, because of the new Pokemon game and wanted ask a couple of newbie questions, I did some research but couldn't find clear answers :

1) I'm familiar with Emunand from 3DS Era and it was used differently there, you had to actually keep Emunand online and up to date while Sysnand stayed offline and on a lower version. On Nintendo Switch I see it's actually the opposite of that, so how does that help you avoid a ban ?(I do realize there's always a risk).

2) You mentioned that 2 SD's saves a lot of headache, how would one go about setting this up on 2 sd's ?

Thanks.

1. None could avoid a ban in any proper ways but you can always reduce the chance by not playing any pirated game while connecting to the Internet without any protection such as sx's stealth mode, 90dns or both. With emunand setup the chance of getting ban could be reduced to maximum, just don't touch anything while being on sysnand like autorcm or any homebrew at all. Boot to sysnand as an unhacked Switch.

2. By swapping 2 SDs. 1 for sysnand and 1 for emunand when you need to boot into.

Cheers.

Yes, you can do factory restore settings on emunand to unlink from sysnand.

After creating emunand, boot to emunand and run checkpoint and backup your savedata then do factory restore settings.

Cheers.

i received my sx pro today but while booting in sx bootloader i failed to pres volume + correctly i just turned off the sw and tried again but now i am thinking: did i booted in not-emunand cwf so now my backup is dirty or if you fail to boot in the boatload you just go to ofw so i am good?

It's okay unless there are some strange error logs on your nand. If you haven't connected to the Internet you could be fine.

ok, but this happened before i had done the nand backup so is my backup dirty?

and also i now have emunan, but i started using my new 128 gb sd card for emunadn and the sd is in exfat an i discovered that exfat is an separate update so i just update the emunand.
so now my cfw emunad can read exfat and ofw can not, so is still necessary to do factory rest settings to un link the sd if my ofw cant read the exfat sd any way?

There is no dirty nand by accidentally executing cfw while being offline. The dirty nand is known as uncommon error codes because of crashes when using pirated content or from homebrew. In addition, pirated content like nsp leave common tickets in the system. Those fake tickets could be an evidence for a ban in the future but unlikely for now (factory restore settings offline will remove all recorded tickets). As I've been said, playing NSP with online functionality when connecting to the Internet will guarantee an instant ban or in days.

If you're keeping sysnand on lower firmware, there's no need to care about exfat as it will ask you to update regardlessly. Otherwise, if you're on current firmware version, just update when asked. After updating, you can factory restore settings offline to unlink them. Make sure your nand is cleaned up before inking it.

i am on on the same firmware on boot but exfat update is a mini update that is independent from system version, it can be installed on every firmware from 4 to current and don't increase system version and do not burn fusses.
it get installed on only when you use an exfat sd for the first time, my pervius sd was in fat32 so i newer installed it.
it is done this way because exfat is propriety of microsoft so for every console whit exfat nintendo has to pay microsoft for the licence, sony pay a bulk price or a fixet price for every console nintendo being cheap pays only when you install exfat on the console.
i did not know that so when i create the emunand it copied my firmware 6.1.0 to emunand which did not had exfat but not problem i used an fat32 sd to install the ex fat update whit ChoidujourNX only on emunand since i don't care for it on sys nand because in it i will continue to use my old fat32 sd.

my question was is still make any sense unlink the 2 sd if my ofw can not read the dirty cwf sd formated in exfat sinice owf dosn't have exfat suport and i do not intend to install it in the future?

That's a good idea to keep FAT32 sysnand and exFAT emunand to avoid wiping out installed content while linking the two nands. The "dirty things" currently won't be detected on SD but might be on the nand itself. If you're still using sysnand and it's already touched by pirated content you would do factory restore settings.

Don't you have issues with the joycons? I keep having to disconnect them and then pairing them again everytime I change from Emunand to Sysnand or viceversa..

it is not an error, if you do factory setting reset your joycons see the sysnand and emunand as 2 different console so they wont connect unless paired

I'm just asking tho, could this damage my joycons if I keep doing this?.. Guess I'll have to buy another pair for sysnand and keep the one I have for my emunand to avoid damaging them in the future.

why should this damage your joy-con?? they are meant to be paired, they pair as soon as you slide them in your switch and that is an operation nintendo assumed you will do pretty often since it is a core functionality of the switch.
even if you speak about the pro controller, usb-c are usually rated for 30 millions insertion, if you connect your pro controller 10 time a day every day for damaging it you will need more than 8.000 years, so it is not gona be a your problem.
just use them and in the unlikely future in witch they broke buy a new pair of joy-con; don't bandage your head before you broke it..

I have my own reservations about EmuNAND but no one has been banned yet for using it so it must be working.

So no one banned yet when using the sysnand online and using emunand offline? That's good to know...but I'd rather want till Smash ultimate is out and look for the banwave around that time

Thanks for the good tutorial. I just want to confirm how I should proceed. I have an unhacked switch on 6.1 and would like to leave sysnand intact. I`m planning to:
1:Backup sysnand
2:create emunand
3:Boot into emunand and use checkpoint to backup savedata
4:Factory reset emunand
5:Back up emunand and boot1

Also will using a bad .xci while using emunand brick the whole system or just emunand?

CLEAN UP SYSNAND
Skip this step if your Switch is a brand new one or never ever been hacked.

> This will clean all ticketblob and error logs
Stay OFFLINE

Do i do this in OFW or SX OS but without emunand activated?

First of all, thanks for the tutorial! So I setup my sysnand and emunand with this process and I backed up my saves with Checkpoint, but I realized that I can't restore the saves to the games I bought onto my sysnand because I can't run Checkpoint on it. I don't want to have to download the games I bought so I can play them on my emunand and I'd like to have my MK8 save on my sysnand so I can play online. If anyone can give me a suggestion on what to do, I would appreciate it.
