You can load a lower firmware using RCM hacks but you can't downgrade. You will never be able to run an OFW below 6.2.0 ever again.

I don't know the exact method to do it, but you can still run RCM hacks like reinx, hekate etc. You can try doing what you said but I can't promise 100% because I don't know.

If you updated and burned your fuses then no
Wrong.

Is there any possible way to downgrade to 6.1 if I have the NAND for that firmware?

Yes, you will need to restore your nand backup and then boot using AutoRCM and Hekate every time. You will not be able boot it officially else the switch will panic

You can "downgrade" by simply restoring the NAND backup.
But you can't boot it without using a bootloader that skips the fuse check (i.e. you have to boot using Hekate/SX OS).

If i restore a NAND backup, is there anyway to preserve the installed NSP files? Im going to try and be the Hekate/AtmosphereNX downgrade geunie pig but i want to make sure there is a way to preserve everything i have installed to date.

BTW, everything was installed to my SD card and not the NAND itself. I would just like to be able to still launch a game after restore without having to redownload all the NSP files again.

Unfortunately for you everything is uncertain at the moment and nobody can guarantee anything.

In theory, you should be able to keep everything; just as long as you get your switch to be at least functional.

Well, damn. Just bought my friends switch off him, it was on 5.1. My plan was to make a NAND backup, factory reset the switch, update to 6.1, then use SX to create an emunand on my second SD card so I could keep everything separate.

I made a boot and NAND backup, then went to factory reset the Switch, but it said it needed to unlink his account before initializing.. but then unlinking failed and said I needed to update first. I hadn't seen any news about 6.2 even existing yet, and I knew 6.1 was safe, so I updated.. and it went to 6.2...

Would/should it be possible to restore the 5.1 NAND backup, then create the emunand from it, then somehow update the real nand back to 6.2 for my non CFW stuff?

or am I stuck waiting at this point?

Apparently, 6.2 burns an extra fuse.

You can restore your 5.1 backup, and boot that using a bootloader that ignores the fuse check i.e. Hekate/SX OS.

BUT:
So you can't use sleep mode when using CFW, until they crack 6.2

Yeah, I had already read about the limitations, that I could go back to 5.1 but be stuck using CFW. So I know I can restore my 5.1, then use SXOS. At that point I should be able to create an EMUNAND with 5.1 on it and still use CFW.

BUT a few people on reddit are confirming that if your EMUNAND is 6.1 or lower it'll still work fine even if your main NAND is on 6.2, so you can still use 6.2 and CFW if you have an older EMUNAND.

Would there be a way for me to get the main NAND back to 6.2 after creating my 5.1 EMUNAND?

For anyone who is wondering and has questions... I am backing up my 6.2 switch right now. When thats done i will restore my 6.1 and post my results.

Will I keep my installed NSPs? Will it still boot with Hekate? Will sleep mode work (probably not)? I will post my results very soon.

After multiple attempts, it will not let me rewrite anything at all. I keep getting an error 4 while opening backup error. Anyone know anything on how to fix this? I've tried 4 different SD cards, all with fat32 and exfat tries. I tried extracting and restoring individual partitions... Seems like nothing is working.

Does this maybe have to do with the new changes to the key generation? Maybe the key changes are preventing the opening? Any help would be awesome. If anyone has already played guiene pig before me, advice is welcomed, otherwise i still dont mind trying to explore a land mind.
