I've seen some rumors that the Gateway team very much can be the TX team. I do see the possibility behind it, and since how close both are linked with Maxconsole and Garys company. I can see why people jumped to that conclusion, but time will tell how well SXOS will be. I mean they steal without remorse anyway so they could easily implement the features as well.

As long as the software is better than the free alternative, people will keep using SXOS. We all saw the pattern until RXTools came about and it really exploded once ReiNAND got released.
Honestly, I wouldn't be shocked, there are so many similarities that it's almost painful to look at it. Most people only saw the Gateway Team towards the end, but I remember when they were at the top of their game. I remember when they were pumping out update after updating and constantly bringing changes to the 3DS scene. The SX Team is almost identical to the early Gateway team that it's hard to not compare them. And knowing this pattern just makes me inclined to believe that they will eventually end the same way in a few years.
I wouldn't be shocked if that code theft ends up being the death of them. Never forget the 6.0 mess due to them taking untested code and just making a complete shit storm of each update in two days. There might end up being a "Luma" for the Switch and people will want that stable tested code over the unstable mess of SXOS.

From all of my friends I'm the only one owning a SX OS licence as I'm unpatient and wanted to start when they initially released it.
However as soon as NSPs became a thing and sig patches were available for the other CFWs I went from RajNX over ReiNX to Atmosphère where -I guess- I will stay now. I boot into SX OS very rarely. The fact that their CFW is closed source makes me skeptical about important things like their stealth mode or emunand functionality. I'd rather wait for Atmosphère's emunand.
My friends never ever needed SX OS. I installed them RajNX or Atmosphère and they never run into any needs or problems.

When Rxtools merged with Cake... Beforehand it wasn't really much to write home about. One thing is there's an irony when discussing TX and their motives. The scene is all about piracy. Yeah, there are homebrew users... But when there's a greater risk of being banned, installing NSP files or running illegitimately acquired XCI dumps is commonplace. It's a bit of hypocrisy to complain about SX like that when you pirate.

Another thing to consider is support is far more consistent now than there ever was with Gateway. If they're the same team, something is more compelling about the Switch.

Still, we'll see what happens. Only time will tell. The only reason I used SX when I did was because of XCI loading for my carts. Homebrew ran better on ReiNX.

The free alternatives are already better imo. XCI loading is practically worthless and I dont care about emunand at all. Atmosphere has more community support and is much more modular and light weight.

Yes, it's money. The Switch is selling like hotcakes, so it's a perfect time to spread the butter until everything becomes stale. It happened with the 3DS scene right?

For me it's more about not getting banned, so I can keep playing my legitimate games online, like Mario kart/odyssey, Pokemon lets go, and Smash in december. Installing NSP's would be far too much of a hassle, as I would need to restore my clean NAND every time I would want to go online, which means I'd have to backup and restore my saves or entire compromised NAND (whichever is easier) if I want to continue my games where I left off without the risk of getting banned.

With SX OS I have never restored my clean NAND since June, and have just never gone online (removed internet settings before going into CFW) while on SX OS. I've also never installed NSP's or booted up homebrew. I've only ever used XCI's. This seems be safe for now. People keep saying 'just wait you'll be banned', but it's been five months and they're still wrong.

Now, with SD emunand, I can just keep emunand offline, and install and play all my NSP's and homebrew in there. Truly undetectable, as long as I remove my SD card when I boot into OFW.

I dont pay for the nso scam so i can't play online anyway. Emumand is less than useless to me, same with xcis.

Yeah that's you.
But for others XCIs for example are better?
Like I have most of my games on my hard drive as XCI, cuz i'm playing docked a lot.
I only have 3 games on my SD Card and maybe 1 NSPs on my switch.

So I just saved money by not buying a 200 GB SD card, plus if such thing would come like with Pokémon Let's Go, my switch won't be bricked, just my emunand.

Not really.

SX has been making some commendable developments lately ahead of the free alternatives, but the features they currently have such as emunand, XCI loading and usb loading is all stuff being worked on by the community.

With emunand being very close to release. I think we will see a point when the "free" scene catches up and surpasses SX, but right now although I hate saying this, SX is actually the best alternative for the end user. However for the "power user" ReiNX and Atmospheres greater customizability and modular design philosophy make them subjectively better depending on use case.
XCI loading?! Is anyone working on this or you're just talking bs?

Not in a long run, and the reason has nothing to do with how good or bad they are. They started it for profit, which means at some point when Switch sales got stable and they can no longer profit from making SX OS, they'll quit for other profitable targets. Only those who do it just because they like doing it without anything in return can do it forever. And even when they decided to quit, someone with the same idea can still keep on going because they are open sourced.

Apple made iPhone 4s, which probably the best selling phone and with one of the best UX at that time. They made tons of money from it, but did you see them still support that device with the latest iOS today? Nah. So tell me again that TX will do it for much less?

XCI was the first format to allow piracy on the Switch. Only SX OS is currently capable of doing it.
I know, but the other user said it's being worked by the opensoft community, and I never heard that and wanted to know if it's true

I was a SX hater when SX released their 1.7 with full of bugs. But for now, my requests (I emailed them for Emutendo folder idea) have been fulfilled. SX's listening to their customers for sure.

They're been working hard by stealing, improving and creating things. As of an end-user I won't care that much as long as it do the job. The more we have different competitors the more benefits we will get later on. You can choose to not taking 5 cups of coffee for SX or having 5 cups of coffee while playing free cfw.
