I checked the front camera and reconnected the rear cameras and it still crashes but I noticed a weird thing in the home menu: if I create a folder and rename it, the bar with the clock and things will appear on the top screen but it will look weird like in the attached picture, and pressing Y+DPad will take a screenshot instead of giving me an SD error

Can you take the screenshot of this weird behavior using Rosalina menu → Take screenshot (slow!).

The picture will be found:

Edit 1 - Image capture for the screens aren't the same as those with cameras.

Edit 2 - What happens if you press L + R to access the rear cameras?

Edit 3 - Nvm. I see now what you mean about the cutoff.

Sorry for the late response here is the screenshot

Edit: Trying to press L+R will show the activating camera screen and the 2DS will softlock/freeze like with most other apps

My bad, I saw what you meant by the cutoff when I took your original picture and viewed it on my n3DSXL.

Does your o2DS crashes when pressing L+R to access the rear cameras? If it does not, try the Inner Cam., too.

Edit - I'm late in seeing your edited post. My computer froze and had to restart.

So did the rear cameras picked up any images?

Yes the camera app freezes like any other app, the only app I can use is change theme but I'm not sure if that's actually an app

Do you have a DS game cart or DS flashcart? See if launching a DS game crashes. When you play DS games, the 2DS switches over to TWL_FIRM (aka, DSi mode).

This is to rule out failing internal NAND and badly flashed firmware from the SysNAND Restore, CTRTransfer, and updates in Recovery Mode.

Trying to launch any title will softlock the 2DS, it's only some of the apps that crash
I have 2 DS flashcarts but they aren't 3DS compatible, only one of them will appear on the home menu and when I try to launch it on my working 3DS I get an error

I just noticed that I can't create folders on 5 tiles of the home menu, is it possible that there are some bad titles installed and the 2DS softlocks/crashes because it's trying to load them?

I have no idea what is wrong with your o2DS.

I don't believe your issue is software but hardware. You can try 9.2.0 CTRTransfer, region changing with USA and JPN CTRTransfer, and Lazarus3DS. ← This one is complicated and requires hard to find copyright material, but I seriously doubt these will fix your softlocks.

The reason why I stressed the importance that the 3DS systems will behave erratically if their accessory parts are not communicating or working correctly with the motherboard, is because you can mistakenly attributed what seems like a software problem when it's actually hardware. The two go together hand-in-hand.

If you can find someone local who is willing to let you borrow their o2DS, try swapping their motherboards.
- If the rear cameras is bad, the donor 2DS mobo in your 2DS body will either softlock or fail to access camera apps.
- However, if the donor 2DS functions correctly, you'll know the rear cameras are good.

- If your 2DS mobo in the donor 2DS body softlocks, gut instincts say its front camera is broken.
- If your 2DS mobo in the donor 2DS works, that means it's definitely the rear cameras that are bad.

I have no other advice. :(

If the front camera was the problem, would removing the camera help like when you told me to disconnect the rear cameras and check if anything changes?

That would be a risky procedure that has a high chance of damaging the 2DS motherboard and/or destroying the front camera when it might be perfectly fine.

What works on the n3DSXL in camera removal might not apply for the o2DS and other models. There aren't previous documented attempts of this for o2DS/o3DS/n3DS/n3DSXL/n2DSXL; this is basically uncharted territory for those models.

Worse of all, that o2DS front camera is not a readily available part and only one 3DS parts specialist in America, wiigotem, sells them from junked and gutted 2DS systems. You cannot find them anywhere else unless you scrape this camera from a dead 2DS motherboard.

Consider replacing the rear camera unit that'll cost you about US $3. This is the safer choice without gambling the front camera. If replacement rear cameras don't fix this, you won't lose out on too much money. *

* I don't know what's US dollar valuation compares to złoty. Let me know if that's not chump change.

I did the 9.2.0 CTRTransfer and now some things like system settings work!!
Edit: I checked the rear cameras with system settings and they are working

I can't access the camera app I checked the rear cameras with rear camera calibration in system settings

Do you have two SD cards that are 4 GB or larger? There's a way to use your o3DS NAND image on your o2DS through EmuNAND. This is not something typically done because it constitutes as an unauthorized System Transfer. This can get both your 2DS and 3DS banned if the 2DS connects online with the 3DS profile. You would have to keep your 2DS turned off at all times and delete the EmuNAND afterwards.

This method is very involved, but it would check if your:
I) 2DS motherboard's internal NAND is failing (an extremely rare occurrence).
II) 2DS SysNAND firmware is incorrectly flashed
III) neither NAND nor firmware is at fault (other, unknown hardware failure assumption)

Would you be willing to try this? I need to let you know that it requires exact steps to follow, may not fix the softlocks, and that the procedure is highly controversial under normal circumstances.

Unauthorized system transfer? How big is the ban risk? I have an SD card larger than 4GB and I can probably do this but if I got my working 3DS banned it would be really bad

There's a way to copy your o3DS CTRNAND (basically, the 3DS operating system and profile) onto an SD card (EmuNAND). There are some decryption/encryption and CMAC corrections you do in GodMode9 that will allow your o2DS to boot using the o3DS CTRNAND.

As long as you keep the o2DS WiFi turned off and never connect to Nintendo's online services like eShop, your consoles will stay safe from banning.

This setup would be temporary to check if the o2DS will softlock or not with a known clean CTRNAND (borrow from the o3DS) and physical NAND (EmuNAND on the SD card). This is made possible only because you have old series 3DS systems that are cross compatible in firmware.

After you use EmuNAND on the 2DS to figure out what might be wrong with it, you delete the EmuNAND off the SD card, like if it never existed in the first place.

If I'm writing this lengthy guide, I have to know you're on board with doing this. While I don't believe it's difficult (don't worry, there's no programming), steps have to be followed precisely.

It will take some time to write and create images detailing the procedure.

Okay I can do it tomorrow, thank you for all the help
