should i worry about downgrade possibilities?
or it only "works" for devs/geeks?

i remember AutoRCM causes problem before and i didn't use it (still manually applied the hack)
Thanks!
Lower firmwares may have access to future exploits such as the coveted untethered coldboot.
So, I just ordered my first jig and I've got one question: I'm on 3.0.0, when I update to say, the newest firmware, will I still be able to run my Zelda: BOTH cartridge or will I have to downgrade just to do so?
You can either let the gamecart slot be updated and thus broken on firmwares below 4.0 so you can play it on the latest firmware or prevent it from being updated whenever you're running a firmware of 4.0+ and only play your retail cartridge when on a firmware below 4.0

I know it's pretty stupid to ask, but could you implement navigation through joycons? A switch I'm trying to update has a broken digitizer and I can't confirm my selection after I choose the folder. Thanks anyway for your job in the community!

By calling people who know more about hacking stuff than you "geeks" I sincerely hope you mess your NAND up to a state where no "geek" will bother to help your ignorant ass.

Is anyone here calling you a dumbass that can't figure out simple steps or is too illiterate read the answers to these same questions other plebs asked?? Then show the same respect chump. Go ask mom to buy Pokemon for you and forget this forum.

Don't want to add fuel to the fire, but.....Seriously, calm the f*** down. He asked a legitimate question AND he said devs/geeks, which is neither impolite, disrespectful or rude whatsoever.

Devs are generally geeks, and before you blow another fuse, know that in this day and age, I don't consider the word "geek" a negative word AT ALL. It's a word that describes a person who is greatly committed to his/her hobby and knows a great deal about it. Developers usually are very skilled in their field, hence you might call them "geeks". That's not being disrespectful, more like the complete opposite.

Downgrading is mainly for people whom hope that we will someday have an exploit that does not require RCM and a jig to activate. The general rule is, the lower the FW, the greater the chances of this happening. With that being said, you cannot boot a firmware lower than your fuse count without a custom bootloader, and you need RCM for that. So, you needn't worry about downgrading if you are fine with the way the current exploit works/have already burned fuses past FW 4.1

Hi I just tried to run ChoiDujourNX on sx os via homebrew, but "firmware" is not showing up as a folder but a blank file icon, does anyone know how I can fix this to be able to select the folder and choose the firmware files inside? Thank you in advance!

the archive bit is set wrong on those iirc it should be set on both the folders and the 00 files
Darn it!! I knew it's the Mac again! I started my virtual machine and copied everything under Windows and it worked. Phew. Thank you so much!!

Holy %&#$%W! I knew it's Mac again. Copied everything under Windows and it worked like a charm. I learned it the hard way the first time I copied a folder to the SD on my Mac. Switch won't take any folders Mac copied. But this time I was using FTP so I didn't think it's a Mac thing, but apparently the archive bits were lost when I unzipped the package on my Mac.

Thank you so much.

I updated to 6.0.1, but after the reboot my switch hangs on a gray screen. Pressing the volume up/down and screenshot buttons cause the icons to pop up, but the menu doesn't load at all. The process seems pretty dead simple so I don't think I messed up anything. Any ideas?

Edit: It looks like the firmware was corrupted... any possible fix?

Edit2: Looks like it was just a random case, re-ran it with a 6.1.0 update from a probably better source and worked fine afterwards

solved my problem by unzipping firmware file with pc. now i have 6.0.0 on emunand, but want to re-format my microsd to expat. Not sure how emunand works but can I just backup all the files on my microsd and put them back after formatting to expat? will that work or I will lose emunand? :) Thanks in advance!

hopefully no "geeks" have brains like yours
i don't remember "geek" ever being translated to anything negative in this forum

oh well whatever, hopefully others will help me whenever i have problem with my consoles

Yeah, thanks for the answer!
i think i don't mind tethered boot for game consoles as i didn't use them very often
and i always have access to a jig and my cellphone to exploit it.

Sorry to ask if this is clear somewhere but it just doesn't seem to be clear anywhere I can see:

How can I get a firmware from an xci image so that it's usable in ChoDujourNX?? All the guides seem to miss this step.

[edit] I have one method that gets me the files but they get scanned by Choi and report back none found. Is that the achive bit thing again? So does that mean I need to have it enabled or disabled?

update - ok so apparently I need to clear the archive bit, did that - same story. It said they were all "non NCA" any idea?

update2 - I swapped to the other SD card I'd been using (32GB instead of this 200GB SDXC) and it worked fine. Both exFAT. I'll check but maybe one is different version

You don't need to downgrade back to FW 1.0.0. Just upgrade to latest using ChoiDujourNX. I'd personally make a backup of your 5.0.1 Nand before you upgrade though, just incase something goes wrong.

Hello,
I have a switch with 5.1 firmware and a SX OS 2.2.1 Beta.
I downloaded choidujourNX and the firmware 6.1.
I launched choidujour through the SX OX homebrew installer.
Then I flashed my switch but I think I did a mistake by chosen the Fat installation instead of exfat's one.

Now my switch is bricked with black screen.

I tried to push power button and volume + even with the jig but no success.
I tried to put a fat sd card and it's the same.

Any idea ?
Thank you !

Choidujour enables auto RCM. I'd suggest checking to make sure your Switch isn't booting into RCM mode.

Hey guys, where are you getting firmware 6.1 from? (Edited, see below)

My system updated itself to 6.1 from Pokemon Let's Go, but that was from an NSP so I cannot extract the update from it. I've obtained 3 different XCI sources for the game to extract the firmware but they have 5.1. I'm running 5.1 now. Advice would be appreciated.

EDIT: Okay I had a think about it after posting, and the answer is to use a warez forum.
I don't think the firmware can be found through Google, which is what I was using. and as above I couldn't find it in game files.

Another updated from 5.1.0 to 6.1.0 here, thanks!

Same thing happened for me.
I'm not sure what exactly fixed it, but what I did was disable Auto RCM, then replace all the SD files, and press the round button on the inside of the joycon. (left side of it, between SR and SL) After reattaching it it works.
