I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I only recently started using retroarch to get access to my mega drive games while they're in another country.

The dynarec is what needs to be ported for N64 and PSX to run full speed, so it's just a matter of time, AFAIK

Hi. Any chance you can help me please?

I got all the main FILES in the SD card. I load retroarch fine and see XMB menu. AWESOME!

Now, I have a FOLDER in the SD > ROMS > SNES, but I don't see any of the games on the XMB menu... How do I get the games on there?

SD:\ROMs\Nintendo\Nintendo - Game Boy\Super Mario Land.GB

This just an example I have setup you need to also make sure directories are setup correctly in settings , the above setup is what RetroArch uses for Thumbs. Nintendo - Game Boy , Sega - Game Gear.

You also cant scan directories for ROMs you must make a Playlist on PC or has this been fixed?

Thanks for the help. I haven't done anything other than put all retroarch files in SD, and also put the roms on the SD.

So I was reading that I need to do a playlist? Is there a way to just scan a folder on the SD from retroarch? I honestly don’t want to do box art as that is space I don’t care to waste, is that necessary?

So I would need to restructure all my games? Right now I have it like this:
SD/Roms/Nintendo/A/a game.nes
SD/Roms/Gameboy/P/Pokémon red.gba

So all Roma have a main name of system and letter folders for each game letter start. That’s wrong?

I have Been using the latest nightly and i successfuly scanned a whole collection of SNES Roms just fine. Haven't tested it with GBA though. Though i am assuming its no different.

Nice this will save time now. Im redoing mine at moment.

I have my folders named after the Thumbnail Folders you could rename them or simply have your folders match as I shown you above I dont think having alphabetical folders should effect it so you can try.

SD:\ROMs\Nintendo - Nintendo Game Boy\M\MetroidII.GB

I Recommend downloading Thumbs on PC though because the speed is awful on WiiU or has that been fixed too?

Do I need roms with a specific name to automatically download a thumb?

Any chance scanning is simple and on the retroarch main settings? I mean, if I load retroarch I will see something like “scan directories”? “Scan games”?

Hi ! Anyone in here got the "all users control menu" thing working ? In Snes9X 2005 (for example), everytime I put it and I set something else as the Wii U Gamepad as Input #1, all my devices work in the menu *except* the Wii U Gamepad. The only way to have the Wii U Gamepad working in the menu is to set it as Input #1...

Well the way I managed it to work was as follows....and you're probably gonna have to delete your configs for this as once you've taken Wii U Pad off from P1 its hard to set it back within the retroarch menu.

So here's what I do;

Load up Retroarch with no configure file and it should default to Wii U Pad as player 1.
In the main core set Wii U Pad to something like P5 as well and enable Analog behavior on ALL players with controls assigned and "all users control menu" as well and save this configuration as you default configuration.
This way, you can freely change player 1 back and forth to Wii U pad or Wii U Pro as many times you desire across cores and you can always get response from all controller devices.

It works for me so it should definitely work for you. Hope this helps.

Now for my question;

Has anybody gotten DEMON FRONT to work with any of the arcade cores?
I've tried many things but no go yet.

can you bring up the menu with other than player 1 home button though? otherwise this feature is kinda pointless.

Truly it should be working fine for everyone, but I've found that if you take off the Wii U gamepad entirely, its later hard to have it automatically recognized and remapped.
Its best to set it to P5 or higher as well as P1, then enabling "all users control menu" and saving your configuration before removing it from P1 altogether. This way you can switch P1 controls on every playthrough without issues. Also there's an issue with the left analog sometimes not being recognized across controllers unless you enable it for all of your active players, so its best to enable it for all of them as well.

Hi there,

I'm having issues with RetroArch 1.7.5 for the Wii U.

I'm booting into it using the Homebrew Launcher after running Haxchi (aka Brain Age).

The issue I'm having is that the menu icons are screwed up, and my roms aren't being placed into specific console directories like the normal PC version of retroarch.

Here's a GitHub bug report of the same issue I'm having, does anyone have an older more stable release that doesn't have this problem cause I'd rather just have something stable than newer at this point, and just wanted to play some retro games on my Wii U:

I can't post links cause I'm new to this website, but look on their GitHub for issue # 7380

I had the same problem with the icons being garbled and what I had to do was download all the assets through the wiiu menu (yes it takes forever...). For making playlists etc I still haven't figured it out. I've named all my folders correctly (ex Sega - Mega Drive - Genesis) and all my roms are no-intro roms. I tried doing a download of databases with it freezing on me so that might be the problem actually. I just ended up stopping to care and just put my general roms folder as start directory.

My biggest problem right now is that loading roms and cores takes so long. I'm gonna try to change the cluster size during a format of the sd card since I saw that being proposed as a solution.

Guys, maybe this is a stupid question. But could anyone tell me if its possible to NEVER have the gamepad be player 1? What I mean by that is, I'd like to (by default) have my wii classic controllers be player 1,2,3 etc. I'm pretty sure it's possible....
Also, how do I enable 4 players on either NES or SNES? Do I need to change a setting or should it "just work"?
Thanks in advance.

For the wiiu gamepad you need to switch it in the input. Before doing that you have to turn on the option for giving all controllers control over menu navigation (if not you'll lose ability to navigate the menus instantly when switching). I've only used Wiiu pro controller as player 1 but I don't see any reason why wiimotes can't be player 1.

For multitap it depends on the emulator, some support the console's multitap and I cantc imagine the NES emulators not supporting it. However, you most likely have to switch it on in the optison as normally it is not turned on by default.
