I have a switch on 5.1 that I hacked using this guide: https://pastebin.com/RR8hCg5K

I installed the exploits on that page and also installed devmenu using tinfoil. Beyond that, no changes (still on 5.1, etc.)

My plans so far are this:

1. copy all my physical carts to my internal SD (probably not hard, looks like data+save homebrew is common for this task)
2. install ultimate chicken horse

The second one is hard for me, I bought the game via accessing nintendo eshop on PC, it's my most-wanted switch game. But only later did I realize that it came out after the online update, which I wanted to avoid since I never plan to play online now that it costs money to do so. I avoided updating and hacked my system, and now I cannot access the eshop without getting an update prompt.

My question is, can I still get Ultimate Chicken Horse on my switch, given that I have hacked it and it is only on 5.1?

Thanks for any replies, really want to play this game!
You can't download the game from the eShop while on 5.1 but you can download the game in .NSP format and install it with either DevMenu or Tinfoil. If you want to officially download it from the eShop, you will need to update to any of the 6.X firmware. I recommend updating with ChoiDujourNX since it can update your firmware without burning fuses (fuses primarily prevent downgrading) so you can downgrade to 5.X at any time in case you run into any issues while on 6.X or there is an exploit that is only for 5.X and below. Know that AutoRCM will be installed by default to prevent fuses from being burnt. Also be aware that DevMenu does not work on firmware 6.X

A few hours ago an idea came to my mind and for that i would ask if there is a tool or cfw avaliable which allows me to use the serialnumber and other keys from a secound console to boot my actual console? Because i thought about if that would be a solution to use sx os on another console that it was activated for. I have two motherboards here and would be able to test it if someone have a tutorial how to do it.
Or in which way does the switch check this infos and can there checls be patched? for example as its patched for ignoring the fusecount

Because my secound console is activated with a license but the mainboard is dead but if i remeber correctly i have a full backup of the emms chip. So would be great if it were possible to skip the key checks or so and get the console to boot. Ohter method would be to just restore the backup from the dead board to the working but i think then it doesn‘t boot anymore or could there checks be passed?

Hello, I'm a complete newbie to the Switch scene. I've been reading the guides posted here these last few days and I'd like some help hacking my console:

I have a 4.1 Switch bought in early april and I never used it, I just charged the battery from time to time, but I never even complete the initial console setup.
I bought an SX Pro and I'd like to update the firmware without burning the efuses. From what I read these should be the steps I'd have to follow:

1 - backup the NAND using SXOS "Launch External Payload" with Hekate, following this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/backup-...-your-biskeys-tseckeys-keys-txt-guide.513386/
2 - add exFat support with this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-get-exfat-working-on-any-custom-firmware.517815/
3 - upgrade to firmware 6.0.0 without burning the efuses following this guide: https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-...nofficially-without-burning-any-fuses.507461/

(the guide says up to 5.1.0 is supported, is the 6.0.0 supported too? from the last messages on that thread it seems to be compatible?)

4 - enable autoRCM
5 - use SXOS

Can someone confirm that this is the procedure I should be following?
Are any of the guides I linked outdated or incompatible with SXOS?
Anything I should be aware of to avoid screwing up?

I'm still somewhat confused, help?

DevMenu is the only thing confirmed to not work on firmware 6.1. There is also a good possibility that Deja Vu, the private warmboot exploit, does not work on that firmware since a browser bug was patched in that firmware.
But for what do i need a warm boot exploit? Is it better as the current method? Because with the trinket soldered to the console i have to do nothing except holding Vol+ on power on so i don‘t see a need for a warm boot exploit.
Or is there something important or great only possible with a warm boot exploit that‘s not possible with the actual RCM Mode we all use?
What things can be done via dev menu thats not possible with the current methods (RCM and SX OS)

There is the homebrew application Retroarch which emulates a wide variety of retro games and then there's the payload Lakka which is basically Linux on the Switch.

This guide has instructions on how to dump the NAND, add exFAT support via the homebrew application ChoiDujourNX (which is the same tool used in the guide you linked), and how to update your firmware without burning fuses (which is also by using ChoiDujourNX). The guide you linked to updating without burning fuses is outdated and even recommends to use ChoiDujourNX instead. Also, all firmwares are supported as long as the console is not patched, which given that you bought the console in April is most likely not patched. Lastly, if you are going to be using ChoiDujourNX (which you should since it accomplishes two of things you want to do), it will enable AutoRCM by default to prevent fuses from being burnt so you do not need to enable it after using ChoiDujourNX.

For people who do not wish to install a trinket/buy a dongle/use a jig & USB cable to load CFW homebrew, Deja Vu is more convenient than the current exploit, Fusee Gelee. Deja Vu will most likely involve loading a webpage to boot CFW/homebrew and is confirmed to work up to firmware 4.1 (which is the same firmware Gag Order works up to).

Ah ok but then for me it‘s no problem staying on 6.1.0

Does you or anyone else know something about my question in my other post about using the NAND from a different console or at least changing the serial number of a console?
This could maybe be very helpful for unbanning.

Well I don't have much experience with the hardware nor do I know any tutorials that delve into the specifics, but from my understanding, the console lives on the motherboard so if you swap it from another console, there shouldn't be any other additional steps. But I can't quite say that with 100% confidence.

I updated to 6.1.0 over Nintendo's official firmware update, which means my fuses were burnt.
Will I be able to downgrade to 6.0 or is this also prevented by the fuses?

Yes and no. Yes because there are exploits only accessible to firmware 1.0 that don't require a USB cable and jig to load CFW/homebrew but no since very few games run on that firmware. I recommend using Atmosphere to update your firmware without burning fuses with ChoiDujourNX. Fuses primarily prevent downgrading so if they are never burnt, you can return to your original firmware at any time. You can follow this guide here

Thanks for your reply. So it is fine to update to 3.0.2 via guide sdsetup. I could downgrade to 1.0 later if required, right?

You can't download the game from the eShop while on 5.1 but you can download the game in .NSP format and install it with either DevMenu or Tinfoil. If you want to officially download it from the eShop, you will need to update to any of the 6.X firmware. Know that AutoRCM will be installed by default to prevent fuses from being burnt. Also be aware that DevMenu does not work on firmware 6.X

Thank you for the thorough reply.
When you say that I could download it in .NSP format, does that mean that I could somehow get a .NSP file from having bought it on the eshop? Or do you simply mean that there are places potentially where such an .NSP could exist, and that I could install that?

And as I understand this, if I upgrade with ChoiDujourNX to 6.1, then I can go on the eshop, download the game (plus get updates for other games for example), and then still downgrade back to 5.X whenever is needed? Thanks for your help.

Are there any benefits from staying at 5.1.0 than updating to 6.1.0?
Switch 6.1.0 is as hackable as 5.1.0, right?

Yeah, this could work. Updating using the regular (pc) version of ChoiDujour won't have you accesss CFW on your Switch, so this should be fine. Just make sure to follow the steps very carefully.

DevMenu doesn't work on 6.0.0 and up, but other than that, it works just as good.

Ha ha, I understand. I think I will instead do the update and get the downloads from eshop as I already bought the game.

I saw that there was a new update for the game in September, will you be able to get updates for games off of eshop after updating to 6.1 via ChoiDujourNX as well? Or will you possibly get banned from using the shop, or some other ill fate?

If you update via ChoiDujorNX and connect to the eShop, there is a good chance you will get banned sooner or later, because you can't use ChoiDujourNX without using CFW, and that will likely leave a trail on your system.
