Because this whole "great work, really - does it work and how, please explain to me personally" thing gets so old...
Its also an excellent example to outline two points.
- Good work, guys!
Really means nothing anymore. Its just what millennials say, when they want to appear personable to get favors. And I actually blame them for having grown up in structures, where stuff like that flies.
The amount of people nicebombing others, just because they expect to get something for free, from time to time has been staggering.
I'm not saying that its all wrong - I'm just raising awareness, that this is a thing. Comes with the "last place winners trophy" culture I guess. But is an extra extension that makes it even worse.
- Not being able to prove a Schroedingers cat dilemma is very much a thing, so are complex systems
"Testing" if you are not banned - is not something that people do for fun very often. Because it involves restoring a nand backup, and not making mistakes, while reverting to a previous state. And then capturing the new current state, and backing that up again, ... This means that the reports on that arent very common either. This means, that you can make no statistical assessments, apart from single use cases ("I used this and was not banned" testimonials
). Why are we even looking at this with a statistical mindset? Because we dont know exactly what Nintendo does, when they ban, when they change the telemetry servers, ...
in short, no one is incentivized to go out in front of everyone and claim "this works". Because its a complex issue, we might never 100% understand. Yet thats, exactly what you are expecting us to do.
If you read the last page again, there is an argument based on theoretical probability in there. Basically about "if all possible best practices have been accounted for". You dont hold those discussions, if you are anywhere close to what some would call "certainty space".
At the same time, I trust it to work (at least up to 6.0.1), but then - I also dont care if you get banned using it, and I dont.
I'm willing to take a risk here, but I'm not willing to take yours.
Somewehere in there is a lesson about individual responsibility and growing up. Also about what it means to not always ask people on the internet to make the decision for you.
And yet, I know for certain - if 10 people in this thread would tell you "it works" - you would go with it as well. And if on the next day for some reason it would turn out that you all got banned - you probably would find all kinds of reasons, for why it was still the correct decision to take.
Just understand, that you are asking the impossible here. "Solve me a Schroedingers cat problem", where the setup is - I want to go against every usage agreement for online, Nintendo has put forward - but also face none of the consequences, Nintendo has come up with. In a scenario where we cant even look at Nintendos code. And you probably are very willing to update to new Nintendo firmwares in the future. Dear hacker - make it work.
This is a scenario, where we could make the best educated guesses - but if Nintendo would show even a bit of enginuity, we would all fail horribly.
Something about not being able to predict the unknown.
