The SD card is going to be formatted either FAT32 or exFAT, even if you didn't format it, it would come with one or the Switch does it automatically.

When it's inserted into your computer, you should be able to see what format it's in by going to your computer and checking properties.

What other files do you have on this SD card? Are they okay?

I watched a video, containing a winrar with all the files then I simply dragged them into the root of my MicroSD card.

Here's a screenshot of the files that are on the root of my MicroSD Card.

Can you check the format type with this? https://www.quora.com/How-can-I-tell-if-my-hard-disk-is-formatted-as-FAT32-or-NTFS

(But EXFAT instead of NTFS)

I haven't been using an EXFAT card, but I'll give it a shot to try to reproduce some issues (assuming you're using one).

Afaik, even though I can't exit using the Plus button, all the file changes are flushed and written to disk which should prevent corruption. But like I said, I'll format my card and check it out anyway.

I'll just wait til there's more stability in the Homebrew.
I don't want to get banned due to faulty failure in the Homebrew.

With a view to being as transparent as possible and to be "for the users" so to speak we have decided to only include apps on our appstore if they have open source code published somewhere (ideally github but not essentially there).

Now with that said there are 19 apps we have no sources for wether they are closed source or have no known source . So we will be removing these apps and would like help from the community to assist in finding some sources for some apps listed below.

jaguar / gearboy / picodrive / mGBA / vba-next / beetlepsx / gambatte / snes9x_2010_nx / mame2003 /mame2000/ snes9x_2010 / fceumm / genesisgx

These are the old individual core ports that appeared in the early retroarch thread. i think @Natehaxx ,@ShadowOne333 ,@ploggy may beable to assist here :).

WAINcartdumperNX i dont actually know the author of this app maybe people can help here . PROJECT REMOVED.
neopop_SDL and Fruity are @nop90 projects
Tinfoil/DZ is a @blawar project. PROJECT REMOVED/
FirmwareDumperNX is a @fOmey project. PROJECT REMOVED
fizzbuzzNX is a Foxofgrey project but i cannot find any post here on the app.

I hope i can get some assistance form you guys here..

Dont forget you can always post your homebrew here : https://submit.fortheusers.org/

or reach us on our Disocrd : https://discord.gg/F2PKpEj

Thanks.

I think all of the RA cores can now be replaced with the official nightly build link for RetroArch Switch.

I have a question.
If a switch is hacked and this recquires internet to work how can I use it without getting banned for jailbreak?

Ok, so i am having a little bit of an issue with this app lately.
Firm 6.2

Never had an issue before, but after the last week or so, i've noticed, once loading the app, it takes a good while for the loading bad to appear, stuck on a black screen for a bit, then the loading bar comes up, and can be very slow at times. Then when updating or download apps inside, it is also super slow. Like i said, i never had an issue before, everything worked super well, i have great internet at home, so my own personal internet speeds aren't affecting the download, nor should that affect the time it takes to load the app.

Am i missing something here?

how strange... I'm guessing that downloads from this site: https://switchbru.com/appstore/#/

aren't slow? (on the same wifi, from computer)
Nah on PC downloads are perfectly fine. I also don't have any issues with any of the other apps in as of yet, things like checkpoint, the doom ports goldleaf and so on all load up instantly just the app store sits at a black screen for a while. Then the loading comes up as usual but super slow, works but slow. Then the downloads/updates are fine but are also slow like it took me 29 mins just then to update to version 2.0.1 of Edizon which is a 6meg file

I am just interested to see what Ive broken lol.

I'm really not sure, I would never call it *fast* but it's not nearly 30min for 6mb slow either.

Any chance I could get you to try a different SD card anyway?

The reason it's a black screen for a bit while launching is because it loads an index of all apps before displaying the progress bar (which I should change) but it's still network related. I might also be interested in how long an ftpd transfer takes of a similarly sized file.

Thanks again for your feedback

About to head to bed as I've got work at midnight but should be home about 8am (Australia time) I'll give another sd card a shot

Also I'll add fat32 and I do update with sdfiles however when I started having this issue I also download the github nro to make sure something wasn't broken with the same issues .

I'll let ya know how the other sd card goes but I'll assume it will work fine because it will be fresh everything .it's just sad cause I had no issue with the amazing app for the longest time then something just broke lol .And not sure what I did

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Update: issue is only present on my home internet. When I tether to my phone no issues. (though I also get nagged to update my system as well)

Weird

Ok so it's def my home ISP.

Accessing the site without my VPN on loads extremely slow, but behind a VPN it loads perfect .So the problem is my ISP. Anyone got any ideas how I can bypass this on my switch without tethering my phone each time I wanna update crap?

I'm happy to announce that through no small effort, and a lot of work from @QuarkTheAwesome @rw-r-r_0644 @crc32 @pwsincd and @CompuCat , hb-appstore 2.1 is ready for release!

Download: https://github.com/vgmoose/hb-appstore/releases/tag/2.1

What's really amazing about this release is both the Switch and Wii U apps have been brought up to speed with each other, and are running off the same codebase! This means that the Wii U repository is now based off libget and has a majority of the functionality of the Switch app.

Changelog:

Switch:
  • new theme category + allow theme installation
  • NRO launching after installation
  • uses GPU to render (smoother)
Both:
  • faster downloads
  • can actually exit with minus button
  • misc category added
Wii U:
  • synced with switch codebase! Now using SDL2
  • can search now!
  • can control without touch screen
  • can scroll and read more details about packages (size, changelog, etc)
  • can install files anywhere on SD (Retroarch, haxchi, etc updated)
  • sort apps, smoother scrolling, and other quality of life things from syncing with Switch

As always, visit our website for more info: https://fortheusers.org

The PC build has also started migrating to Buck + Buckaroo for building and dependency management. It is my long term goal to use the same Buck configuration to lock in dependencies and compile across all platforms! This should prevent situations where the underlying libraries (such as specific libpng, SDL, or devkitPPC/devkitA64 installs) are updated and no longer available, breaking the build for future users. Here's an article with more info on this approach.
