I know there are multiple threads asking if one can unban themselves on Switch, but I have a somewhat different (possibly stupid) question. If I have just recently been banned from online services (I can still update FW to my knowledge, but eShop and Game Updates Blocked), would a clean NAND restore fix this? I know bans are related to certificates and thus don't think it's very likely, but I figured I'd ask just in case. If I understand correctly, the NAND backup is to help one prevent themselves from getting banned in the first place, but not actually take away a ban that is already there. However, I figured I have very little hope until cert patching (maybe) comes around, so until then this may be my only chance.

Thanks for the help in advance!

You're supposed to restore the clean NAND before you go online, not after you get banned. Restoring it ain't gonna get you un-banned because that NAND has the same console certificate as your now banned console. The ban is handled server-side, not client-side.

If you also have a chance, can you submit a ban report here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/nintendo-switch-banning-hub-warning.508710/

In this world, you can never count on anything constant. People change, economy changes, countries change.
If there is one thing that is always constant though, it is Draxzelex asking you to submit a ban report.
I don't have that much success with PMs so I do public posts in a forum so that way if they don't post, everyone knows that person ignored the request. Also I do typically offer actual advice/answers when a person who gets banned asks a question :rofl2:

I'm tired with all of these threads.
No, no unban possible unless:
1. You change your Switch's motherboard
2. Change your Switch's cert with a non-banned one
3. Hack into Nintendo Database and delete your entry

May I ask if you follow right procedure. Like you just said you won't get banned?

If you backup the NAND before you hack the console/run CFW, stay offline with all of your hacking or use a DNS server to block Nintendo-related traffic, and restore that clean NAND backup, you should be safe. You will also have to consistently make new NAND backups every time you return from online play because you cannot flash the same NAND backup twice.

Read your End User Agreement and if you've not broken any terms, then contact Nintendo and make a complaint to be unbanned.

Really? Yikes... so every time you stop playing the game. new nand backup? thats a bit nasty.
Seems like this is not really feasible. to me atleast.
But atleast if its true what you say that means there is a method.

Btw and you can't install the game via NSP?

No one has been banned thus far for restoring a clean hack-free NAND because it is virtually impossible to be banned for doing so since Hekate is loaded before the NAND.

Also, I don't understand your second question.

Of course this is only sensible if you only go online a limited number of times (say, once every few months). However, if you don't pay for NSO, you don't gain much by being online anyway.

I can submit a report tomorrow. It will probably not help you much since I did literally ALL OF THE THINGS people were told not to (kept internet online, accessed services, etc.) but I'll still put it in nonetheless. Thanks for the response. As for the angry people in the comments mentioning being sick of these threads; sorry. I didn't mean to annoy/upset anyone, and as I hinted at in my post I already had a feeling I knew the answer to my question; just wanted to make sure that there was absolutely no way out.

Why you can't flash the same NAND twice?
If you restore a clean NAND backup, go online, then return offline to perform hacks, and restore that same NAND again, its a red flag to Nintendo that you modified your console. That is because the NAND had to have changed after you went online with it and these changes are recorded by Nintendo. If you undo those changes, then it won't match Nintendo's records.

Imagine if restoring the NAND was like painting the console white and hacking the console meant painting it red. As long as Nintendo never sees the red, then they won't know the console was hacked hence why you would paint it white before going online. However once you bring the console online, it changes color to blue. Now if you paint it white again, Nintendo will know you modified the console.

Hint. 2 and 3 are impossiburr
2 has already been accomplished quite a while ago. Though just like with the 3DS, it'll never be public for ethical reasons. However, due to the nature of this horrid scene, I imagine some turd will leak it for five minutes of fame and ruin it for everyone.
