Question to the experts out there; I have and older Wii with an Wiip 1.3 installed (running OpenWii 2.0b or something as thats the highest possible version to run with the limited amount of memory on that chip - as far as I know).

When I soldered it I lost a pad or what it is called on the board, so one cable is now soldered to one of the legs of the chip. I would like to upgrade to a newer and better chip and was wondering if I need to desolder the part connected to the Wii or if I simply can exchange the modchip with another one (soldering only on the easy side which is outside my Wii).

Do most modchips use the same connection points so that this would be easy? I would like to run OpenWii, any good suggestion on where to buy a modchip that support that? (I am too noob to make it myself) I see TCNiSO's newer 2.0 Wiip is no longer on their site pending a copyright review.

Thanks for taking the time to read and for you input...

Update; I guess Wiip is an ATtiny chip or At90s, so when looking at this page for At ATmega8 install vs. an standarad ATtiny the points on the Wii board is the same (presuming Wiip used these points as I dont have the schematic for my old install) can anyone confirm if my assumptions are correct?

thanks for confirming, my only convern now is that after reading around yesterday it looks like there is not much activity around openwii... I am not sure if that is simply due to the last release being more than okay for general use or if there are other reasons. I notice it still lacks multidisk, audiofix etc. if the drivechip comparison in up-to-date...

Any good place to buy (from Europe) a chip that can run openWii?

Or should I by a cyclowiz? Though will they even be supporting things now that they are under investigation? http://www.cyclowiz.com/cyclowiz.txt
