Find the thread for 90dns, if you want to be able to connect to the network, give homebrew access to the internet etc, while staying hidden from Nintendo's servers. Otherwise yeah just stay offline.

Am I wrong in my understanding that Atmosphere now blocks all contact with Nintendo natively ?

So you should be able to stay “online” giving homebrew and other such apps access to the net, while the CFW keeps your switch “offline” as far as Nintendo could tell.

I know atmosphere disables some native error reporting, but afaik it doesn't block connection to Nintendo's servers. In fact the first time I ran atmosphere I forgot to set up 90dns, as I had been using stealth mode in sx os, and not long after connecting to wifi to use ftp, I got a nag to update my firmware (thankfully this was the type of nag that goes away when you boot into then exit recovery mode).

I'd love to see someone implement a sysmodule or whatever that does the same as stealth mode and stops the switch communicating with Nintendo's servers. Then you wouldn't need to worry about dns every time you connected to a new access point etc.

The exploit used to run Atmosphere called Fusee Gelee works on all firmware of unpatched Switch units. While you do not have to update your firmware, if you want to update, I would highly recommend doing so with ChoiDujourNX. It'll ensure you don't burn fuses meaning you will be able to return to your original firmware while being able to enjoy all of the benefits of being on a higher firmware.
will i get banned if i use this application to update my switch, or do i need to say offline if i decide to do this?

Possibly since you need to hack the console to run this application. There's an even greater risk if you use it to update to firmware 6.X since its impossible to update to that firmware offline. I think a way to mitigate such a risk is to let the console download the firmware online to let Nintendo you downloaded the update then use ChoiDujourNX to update to firmware 6.X

Yes. Eta 5 Hours

I guess it's German humor, which I have never found funny.

Nowadays it is hard to find someone who answers seriously in Internet forums. I was just asking if there is an estimated release date, as there was before. Despite the fact that it could be not reliable, but that's the point of an estimation.

All I got is 2 answers mocking my question.

There will probably not be another release date. To determine when a feature is ready in software development is quite difficult.
Just have a look at Star Citizen. They stopped giving out release estimates, as people would misjudge them for guaranteed dates. If the dead line was not met, they would go haywire and even accuse the devs of lying.
Especially for a hobby project that implements something of that magnitude. Your best bet is to subscribe to the Github repo and follow along.

Well that sure doesn't sound like something that would happen here at friendly gbatemp.

Thank you for the answer. I'll definitely subscribe to the repo. :)

If i install this atmosphere? Do i still need to inject payload eveytime i restart the switch?
You do not "install" Atmosphere. And yes, you still need to inject a payload every time you reboot/shutdown the console because it uses the same exploit that all other CFW use known as Fusee Gelee.

I read the official guide and it never mentioned anything about the jig (Yes I do have one).
When doing so, it never went into RCM. I just watched a video of recent and I can still do it even on 6.0.1

Your switch is fine for getting the CFW

make sure your console is fully powered off, insert the jig all the way in the right joycon rail, then hold volume + and power and your switch should be in RCM

Firmware doesn't affect RCM, only hardware revisions
