ok do i keep my old stuff on sd card. it just frooze on loading sd card screen im thinking maybe i dont have boot 2 is there a way for me to check?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Patience. Stop using caps. I have 3 kids man if I don't have time perhaps someone else will but posting a million times in caps is just annoying.

Copy the contents of the COPY to SD folder onto you sd card. You should see a structure like sd:/apps etc.

If u have an error, you need to tell us what specifically went wrong and in what step. Think about what information we might need to help you solve your particular problem and try to offer it without having to be asked.

Edit: temp folder is intended to be for ModMii only, don't you worry about it

also my HackMii_Installer folder in copy to sd card is empty is that normal?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

shold i have unzip all the HackMii_Installer from temp and put in HackMii_Installer folder in sd card

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

anybody what does in the guide mean 'Note: if this Wii was previously modified, and it has either the HBC, BootMii as Boot2, or a Forwarder Channel installed, you can use that instead of an exploit.'
does that mean i dont need hackmii installer i just need to update HBC?

should my hackmii installer folder be empty in copy to sd card folder is that my prob?

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Simple: find it yourself, not differently than let's say a SNES game

But, if you already have cios and a wad manager, you don't need the hackmii installer - get a wad of the Open HBC and just install that: https://gbatemp.net/threads/v-wii-homebrew-channel-open-sourced.450288/page-4

what u mean the guide telling me to use that hackmii installer do i just skip that?

You can put the hackmii installer's boot.elf in the hackmii installer folder but it's not necessary in most cases (I.e. if your first installation of the HBC uses an IOS other than IOS58) - however in your particular case, do it, it will make the steps easier for you. I say this because I just noticed your syscheck, and since you already have an old HBC installed, you can just launch the new HackMii Installer from the HBC you already have (after you copy over sd:\apps\hackmii_installer\boot.elf). If it fails to launch or install when launched via the HBC or you have any issues with the hackmii installer you should pause where you are in your current ModMii guide, and go and run ModMii's hackmii solutions guide (which will tell you to launch MMM to install IOS58 then try the hackmii installer again), finish that, then return to your main guide.

It looks like you have and old version of cioscorp or darkcorp installed at some point because your syscheck shows a ton of patched IOSs that really serve no purpose than to mess up the hackmii installer (and launch backup discs from the disc channel - which is obsolete since usb loader support IMHO).

Since I'm not sure what 'old stuff' is on your sd card I couldn't tell you if leaving it there will make a difference. I suggest you take it off your SD card just in case and copy it back later if you care to. Ultimately the only real risk is installing WADs not mentioned in your ModMii guide that are left over from whatever you had done years ago,

You said it froze on loading sd card screen. Can you be more specific? I'm guessing that it freezes after launching bannerbomb 1 (since your sysheck shows you are SM 4.1)? The next step screen should be the hackmii installer loading, correct? If so, stop your current guide and instead use ModMii's hackmii solutions guide.

ok do i keep my old stuff on sd card. it just frooze on loading sd card screen im thinking maybe i dont have boot 2 is there a way for me to check?
You can put the bootmii SD card files on your sd card. If bootmii is installed as boot2 and it finds the right SD:\bootmii folder then it will launch automatically, You don't need to check this though, since the directions I provided above should allow you to launch the hackmii installer and it will tell you if your wii is capable of installing\updating your boot2 with bootmii.

anybody what does in the guide mean 'Note: if this Wii was previously modified, and it has either the HBC, BootMii as Boot2, or a Forwarder Channel installed, you can use that instead of an exploit.'

This means that instead of using bannerbomb, or some other exploit to launch the hackmii installer, you can just launch the hackmii installer from the HBC as described above - but you still need the hackmii installer.

Hello. I downloaded the latest ModMii v6.4.8 and ran the wizard to update my softmodded Wii and install additional apps. However, it's telling me 52 of 59 downloads failed. I notice that it's trying to download these files and gets an instant "404". Is this happening to anyone else right now?

I made a picture of the log here: image [dot] ibb [dot] co/jE2SgL/modmii-fails.png (new users can't post links apparently).

Would someone be kind enough to run a recent version of the ModMii wizard, select all defaults and tell me if they also fail to download most of the files? That downloading the files gives 404 errors?

EDIT: Here is a screenshot that samples the error output:

There's no (public) way around using the hackmii installer...
how does flashax work?
I think it serves hackmii installer directly to RAM, but I don't know if it grab it in real time from bootmii.org or if it is served from flashax server.
If you want hackmii installer, it seems to be bundled in hackmii_please package, which website still work.

Nintendo will shutdown eShop/update server next year, I wonder if they will keep the IOS servers online.
You are spending time on modmii to update it, but you might have to do it again next year if cdn is not available anymore.

While it's still online, do you have an option to backup and generate all IOS/cIOS base that modmii supports? or do we need to do it one by one?
I'm sure some users already prepared for it and made backups of all existing nintendo files.

Is the only file I need from the hackmii installer
Boot.elf? Or do I need more files from the hack mii installer zip in my sd card?

I’m I advised to make another back up nand?

Yeah I was going into the sd card expoilt method to start boot.elf do I need more files so my hbc can see it?
Is there any step by step guides or YouTube guides on updated on modmii I know some steps will be diff ?

I'm not sure if flashhax hosts the hackmii installer itself, if it does then technically that's a big no no as well. Please.hackmii.com is a great source for people to grab the hackmii installer boot.elf, I'll remember that for next time

It would be as simple as downloading everything from ModMii's download pages. I could put together a download queue to share to make it easier but it's as simple as going to each of the download pages and entering A to select All.

Pretty much
Or do I need more files from the hack mii installer zip in my sd card?
Sd:/Bootmini.elf allows you to launch the hackmii installer from bootmii, but since 99% of the time there's a way to launch the boot.elf it is redundant.

I’m I advised to make another back up nand?
Can't hurt. For u I would recommend making another one again at the very end so that once everything is fixed u have a good solid backup and won't need to repeat any modding steps.

Yeah I was going into the sd card expoilt method to start boot.elf do I need more files so my hbc can see it?
Just put the boot.elf where I told u to in my earlier post and follow the Modmii guide.

Is there any step by step guides or YouTube guides on updated on modmii I know some steps will be diff ?
The ModMii guide has YouTube videos built in, if you click the broken images in your guide it will launch a video explaining each step (broken images will need to get fixed eventually, but if they were working they would tell you to click on them for a video tutorial)

Ok I will try didn’t get anywhere yday I’m afraid of bricking. How come I have to install new HackMii installer if I can access the BootMi in the HBC menu already? Are they the same thing?

my sd data is crashng without me putting that file in there is that something to do with letterbomb do i need to delete or rename anything?

It was my private file cozing this I renamed it so I need to keep anything wats in that file?

with old stuff i meant do i move everything from root of my sd card and replace it with modmii copy to sd card contents

updatethe bootmini.elf. file dosnt show up in the contents of sd card menu to load i also placed it in the Hackmii Installer folder and tried to start it on hbc it just stayed on the scam screen and didnt give me button to press to proceed.

im not sure wat im going wrong pls send me detail steps wat u think i should do ?

You're not following my instructions, go read them again. There's only so many times I can repeat myself.

If nobody knows why I fail to download so many packages, does anybody know where I can get the files manually myself? I'll do it if that's what it takes to finally get my Wii to play backups.

Everywhere I read ModMii was the recommended easy way to set up a modded Wii... but already 3 days I cannot figure out why the heck it's not working.

@XFlak Is it possible you can make like a mini update to ModMii, to include Wii Mod Lite over Wii Mod or Multi Mod Manager and have options to patch IOS31, IOS80, EVC, and install RC24 Mail Patcher to SD Card for RC24?

You don't need the shopping Channel, a better screenshot would've been the final screen where it tells u all the files u are missing. If some fail to download the root cause is likely server issues (I. E. Nintendo) and u should just keep trying

Hi XFlak, thank you for the reply and for creating this software. I have posted the list of the missing packages in my original post a few days ago:

I made a picture of the log here: image [dot] ibb [dot] co/jE2SgL/modmii-fails.png (new users can't post links apparently).

I've been trying to redownload for the last few days but sadly still the same errors; maybe Nintendo is shutting down their servers? Discontinuing the Wii? I know they will close the Wii Shop in January next year. Is there an alternative download source for the files? Maybe a mirror?

OK, what's interesting is that with the program "Qwad" I can download the wad that ModMii fails to download. I put in Title ID: 0001000248414241 , Version: 21 (this is the Shopping channel requested in ModMii, as shown in my previous screenshot), and after 20 seconds I get a 25MB .wad file!

So why is it that ModMii fails to download this file?

I'm not familiar with qwad, if both are downloading from NUS, then they should either both work or both fail. Ita possible qwad is downloading from an alternate "shady" source if it detects NUS isn't working. Or perhaps there's something unique about your set up that is preventing nus downloader (which is the tool modmii uses to download files from nus) from working but isn't affecting qwad. Perhaps your antivirus or firewall is stopping one but not the other? Lots of possibilities here

Thanks.

So it seems I am now bang up-to-date, but am still seeing an issue.

When I was in the USA, a long time ago, I bought MDK2 on WiiWare and now I am in the UK and wish to install it on my PAL Wii. But I am getting a black screen?

Do I have to install it in a particular way? Thanks

Well, I figuired it out and fixed it! :)

Turns out NUSDownloader was failing to download as well, it was saying "Error : An exception occurred during a WebClient request" immediately on "STart download". I googled this and had a suspicion that it needs MS .Net Framework 3.5 installed; tried to install it but could not (guess my Windows is broken). So finally I set up a VM with a fresh Windows on it, and whaddaya know? ModMii downloads great inside it :)

Used HackMii today and played my Wii Sports backup! Thanks a lot for this tool!
