As far as I know, ModMii was never made available to Mac users. There's even an April fool's day gag going on today about a new version of ModMii available for Mac and Linux.

You should be fine on System Menu 4.0. All you'd need to update is cIOS249. cIOS250 is only needed if you have problematic Homebrew that is experiencing issues with 249.

I don't remember which SM added IOS58. I know that a lot of current Homebrew runs off of that. If it was SM 4.1 that added IOS58 then you might want to find a friend with a Windows laptop/PC that you can use ModMii on.

You should post a SysCheck here so we can see what might need to updated. Maybe you don't need much, and can do it without ModMii.

Portugeek, YOU ARE A GOD!!
6 hours of banging my head on the wall trying to revive a screwed softmod that had broken Bootmii (fixed previously) and black screen freeze on both mymenuify and mymenuifyMod. Followed your instructions to a T and everything is perfect now. Thank you!

From here, ModMii will show you a list of IOS's/cIOS's you'll need to download and install to successfully update your Wii.

So I am now at the step of updating the IOS/cIOS. So how do I do this? You say I have a list, where do I find the list and what do I do with it. Is it in the WAD folder? I need help please!!

Do I need to go to Modmii and choose the option: Download page 4?

There are a lot of outdated Softmod Tutorials currently floating around the internet. These outdated tutorials can lead to unnecessary issues and headaches. It's especially frustrating after you've "successfully" completed a tutorial, thinking that everything went smoothly, only to later learn that nothing's working as it should. This thread is an attempt to properly help those gamers with outdated softmods, to get their Wii Softmod up to speed, and help minimize future headaches.

>> dude, thank's a lot for giving usefull guide to newbie like me. it really handy and also helpfull.

once again, thanks

the lost of iOS/cIOS need to update (after using SysCheck), you can find it on the root of ur SD Card folder. there will be two files:
IOSsyscheck.txt and sysCheck.csv

ModMii - removed bc system thinks I'm spamming links (Once downloaded, install it onto your PC) **updated Jan 16, 2018**
  • Direct link to removed bc...system thinks I'm spamming links of ModMii.
I have been trying to download and install this for the last hour or so (minus a couple days ago when I tried). Browser blocks it from even getting through. Got a friend to send me it as a rar file, browser again detected it but since it was a rar, I was able to say "keep the file". I went to install it and it keeps telling me something is wrong with the internet connection or my firewall settings.

Unless I don't know something about my system...like a hidden firewall that I don't know about it...I've disabled all the windows defender firewall and virus protection (was previously disabled to allow malwarebytes to run without an issue) and disabled all the malwarebytes real time protection. Added the file as an exclusion for windows defender (both firewall and av protection) and malwarebytes. Which shouldn't matter since they are both disabled and popping up messages saying that I'm not protected.

I'm running win10x64.

Any suggestions? I'm pretty sure I exhausted all that I can think of. Anything extra I should do in the advanced firewall settings? I've looked at the modmii.exe in the advanced settings and there are 4 entries all saying "allow" (not "allow if secure").

Edit: I was able to download a different version here:
gbatemp[.]net/threads/trojan-downloader-with-modmii.302794/page-3#post-3800470

I was able to run this one BUT it said the same thing about not being able to connect the servers or something of that effect. Is there a URL or IP address that Modmii tries to connect to that I can put in an exclusions list?

You want to make sure you are running the latest version of modmii. Try running modmii.bat instead of exe and see if that makes a difference. I never did extensive testing of ModMii on windows 10, while it should work, I've always used windows 7 (or XP).

...
Re-reading your post, have you extracted the contents of the zip file? You shouldn't run directly from the zip itself. Make sure u have the latest version here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/modmii/files/ModMii6.4.8.zip/download

Thanks for the response and no, I didn't run the exe through the zip file. The links in all the threads were straight to a exe to install ModMii and the zip my friend gave me contained the exe to install like the one I was trying.

Now...I am at work and on my laptop right now but I was able to download that zip file without a problem and I ran it (while keeping it zipped) without a problem. My wife isn't at home to send me my syscheck file so I'm going to try running this at home from this laptop. If all goes right, I'll even try running it on my computer to see if leaving it zipped while running the exe will actually work and I'll report back.

Thanks for the quick response and support!

That's the file I needed! I guess the links from the other posts are older (including the OP in this thread) and all my Google searches didn't pick up that link. But that link worked, both within the rar as well as I extracted it and ran it. No virus bs. Though...when the kids get to bed tonight I'll re-enable all my AV/firewall settings I had and re-run the program and see if anything happens.

So looking at the guide and the list of WADs, this is saying that literally everything is out of date on my Wii...?

I'll update you in a couple hours on my progress but I'm hoping that when I go through and install all the wads that I'll be able to load up SSBB through my hard drive instead of having the disc in the Wii and the possibility my kids ejecting it and scratching or breaking it.

Thanks for the help! Much appreciated!

@XFlak
Thanks for your help! I successfully went through the whole ModMii guide that popped up. SSBB now works too! I'm super happy right now! After not touching my modded Wii in about 8 years or so, I was a bit scared of doing anything with it, especially since I couldn't remember what I did in the first place. ModMii made life so easy, so thank you for the wonderful program! You did an amazing job with it!

Hi there,

I don't know if I should try this ModMii thing... But I have a modded Wii that I bought a few years ago... I don't think I got any of the NAND stuff to repair the problem I am having with it... And I don't know what to do with it...

The console starts may 1/2 of the time correctly. The other times, when I press on the Power button, it powers on, but the, after the initial message where you are asked to press A, the screen turns black and the machine tells me that the files are corrupted. (I believe they refer to this has a banner brick ??)

Sometimes, it does this after closing a game instead of reaching the Wii menu...

Any help, advice, guidance would be awesome !

PS: Is there a way to factory reset the thing if worse comes to worse ? I once did a Wii mod using the letterbomb method and succeeded... And that machine still works good.

THANKS IN ADVANCE !

Ironbass :)
