Game Name: Dragon Quest XI - Echoes of an Elusive Age (3DS version)
Developer/Publisher: Square Enix
Release: 29/07/2017
Genre: Turn-based RPG

Does it have lots of text?
- It's an RPG, so obviously yes ;)

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
- Because Square-Enix has already made official that the 3DS version won't be localized.

What is it about?
- The typical village boy in his coming of age trial, which escalates into saving the world, recruiting all kind of allies during his journey, battling villains, etc.

Popularity in Japan:
- It's one of the most popular sagas in Japan. The 3DS version sold very well. It also has an interesting feature: you can play it in both 3D or 2D mode, for fans of retro-rpgs.

Screenshots:

Videos:

Why I think it needs to be translated?
- Because it's a solid title, from one of the most well-known sagas of rpgs in the history of videogames.

What I can do to help:
- Not much, really. I have no hacking skills and my Japanese knowledge is still low (JLPT N4 approx.). I could still proof-read the translated texts and beta-test the results.

+1 to this. Also, I can help with romhacking and even provide tools if needed.

Game Name: Future Card Buddyfight Appears! Our Strongest Buddy!!
Developer/Publisher: FuRyu
Release: March 15th, 2018
Genre: Card Game Simulator

Does it have lots of text?
Yes. There's a lot of dialogue between characters in the series.
I won't mind if there's a translation only for the menus, card text for cards.

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?

FuRyu is exclusive to JPN only

What is it about?

A game where you fight against opponents in a TCG game, that is based on a TV show.

Popularity in Japan:

Very popular working on it's 5th season.

Yes
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
Only one game out of the entire series has been translated and marketed outside of Japan. This game is called Kenka Bancho:Badass Rumble which is the third game from the Kenka Bancho franchise. The game is fun, but it did not sell well even though it was seen as one of the best psp games of 2008.

What is it about?

You play as Daigo Asahina, a new student to the infamous Kukijima High School. Kujima is known for housing some the most notorious delinquents.

The game takes place over three years where you will be doing everything from fighting(of course), working, and even falling in love. If it's anything like the story to Kenka Bancho: Badass Rumble, then you will be fighting to prove that you are the toughest S.O.B. of them all.

Popularity in Japan:
The series is pretty popular in Japan. It even received it's own anime spin-off, Kenka Banchou Otome. The game itself did alright. It sold over 24,000 copies on its first week which is less than expected, but it did make the top 3 for that week. This is the first game of the series that was on 3ds which may be the reason for its decline in sales. Most of the games were made for the psp and the others were made on the ps2, so it is possible that many of the franchise followers bought a ps vita instead of a 3ds. Famitsu gave it a score of 34/40.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
From what I've played and have seen of the game, it has an awesome set of controls and the combat is excellent. With all of the different fighting moves in the game, there is nothing more fun than going around and beating on anyone that stands in your way. And, there are a multitude of mini games you can play if you ever just want a break from the mayhem. Plus, you get to play as a badass. What more could you want?
What I can do to help:
I won't be of much service I suppose, but I can try to play through the entire untranslated version if that would help.

It seems that you're the first person to make this request. As you're a new user you may have missed the first post in this thread, I recommend you read through it and post your request according to the guidelines :D

Game Name: Detective Conan: Marionette Symphony
Developer/Publisher: Bandai Namco Games × Spike Chunsoft
Release: 25/4/2013
Genre: Zapping Adventure

Does it have lots of text?
Yes, it is basically an interactive detective novel, so there is tons upon tons of text. Hundreds of recap passages alone and background flying text. The script is 3.31MB in all -- the same size as War and Peace in .txt format.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
It's a niche, anime tie-in game to a series which is not very popular in America.
What is it about?
An expansive and high-tech island seaview resort made of four towers, Clover Hills, is celebrating its first anniversary.
Large crowds have gathered for the festivities at Central Tower, the control tower at the centre of the resort which maintains the entire island.

Among the guests are the members of the Conan Family:
Kogorou, Conan, and Ran head to meet a client at the resort's aquarium, who wants to consult Kogorou about a possible case.
Meanwhile, the Detective Boys and Haibara climb the emergency stairs of one of the towers to investigate the legendary rumours surrounding Clover Hills.
Hattori and Kazuha are also visiting the resort's TV studio for filming.

But then, an enormous explosion shakes the manmade island... The bridge connecting the Hills to the waterfront has been blown up. The Conan Family realises that the resort has been cut off from the mainland.
At the same time, the press receives an audio message from the bombers, and a threatening message, stating that everyone in Clover Hills has been taken hostage.

"We have taken over Clover Hills... If you do not fulfill our demands, we will sink the resort into the sea, along with every last hostage."

As Inspector Megure and the MPD worry what will happen, Clover Hills is thrown into uncontrolled chaos, with brutal cases springing up in every area of the resort. A group with an evil purpose is lurking in Clover Hills...
This time, the enemy is one that Conan cannot hope to face up to alone. Kogorou, Heiji, Ran, Kazuha, Sonoko, The Detective Boys, the MPD, and even Kaitou Kid... Everyone must co-operate in order to quell the coming chaos, as there is no singular mastermind behind this case.

What could the bombers' objective possibly be? Will the Conan Family be able to work it out in time to stop them from committing even more crimes?
The curtain rises as the Conan Family and the terrorist organisation are plunged into all-out war...
Popularity in Japan:
Low. 28234 sales tracked over first two months after release. Niche focus, plus necessary anime foreknowledge needed to enjoy the game means it had a limited audience.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
As long as you don't mind text walls, it's a nice game that fans of the anime would enjoy no matter what language they speak!

And if you are a fan, it's basically an interactive Conan movie, complete with a cinematic-style plot, where you have to reason out the truth alongside Conan. (And no, the organisation is not that Organisation. The cast is the general movie cast up until movie 17.)
What I can do to help:
Translate the game! Also, playtesting.

What I need help with:
  • Graphics editing - There's around 440 pieces of text in graphics. 86% have translations ready.
  • Enabling the variable-width font found in the game (Each character has a width defined, but the game ignores it and sets them all to 32 :( ) I might have an idea for a fix, though.
    4qV7nFV.png
  • Moflex video editing (There are several moflex videos in the game which are filled with piles of text that would ideally be translated in-place as well.)
  • Minigame program edits (A minigame turns up several time where you make up words from syllables selected on a roulette which spins faster and faster. The coding would need to be altered so that the minigame is in English.)
  • General hacking everything together into a playable state
  • DLC fix (The last chapter of the game, Clover Rhapsody, was given out as first-press DLC codes, and is available to purchase on the eShop for 200 yen or so (not sure if it went up after the tax increase). All the assets for the DLC appear to be in the main game/ 'on disc', but the script itself is missing...)

This would be AMAZING! I'm a huge detective conan fan and would be super happy to play this game. I'm not very helpful when it comes to technology, but i'd gladly test anything--! I know the show well enough that I could probably help with wording things as well.

Big, big, BIG warning to those who want to attempt to translate this one, even if you're avoiding inserting the official translation: If you're gonna translate this complete secrecy is going to be essential.

This isn't like the other Dragon Quest 3DS translations like Monsters, Monsters Joker 3, Rocket Slime 3, etc. where neither Square Enix nor Nintendo had any intention of bringing them over and thus let the projects continue. This one has the PS4/PC version coming (and Switch eventually) and any attempt at cannibalizing their sales through a fan translation is going to be a huge no no for them. They can and *will* come after you if you're public about this early on. There's a reason they went after the people Dragon Quest VII 3DS and Final Fantasy Type-0 on PSP. Any threat to their profit is going to be met with a deluge of C&Ds.

So your best bet will be working on it on the down low. You can make a surprise release like Joker 3. By the time SE sends the C&D it'll have been downloaded and preserved. I'd hate to see a passion project such as this one shut down without realizing its full potential.

VII 3ds eventually was confirmed, so that was kind of different.

The 3ds version of XI is pretty different to say the least.

Game Name: Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker 3 Professional
Developer/Publisher: Square Enix
Release: February 9, 2017
Genre: RPG

Does it have lots of text?
Of course, it's an RPG after all.
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
The original Joker 3 never came out in the west, and considering Joker 2 Professional never made it to the west (yet the original Joker 2 did), then I don't have any hopes of this one getting a western release. It's also been 18 months since the game got released in Japan.
What is it about?
It's the same story as Joker 3, so an amnesiac wanders the world to learn about his past, scout out monsters, and use them in friendly cockfights to beat other monsters, and the main antagonist. Joker 3 Professional is an expanded version that has over 700 monsters (compared to over 500 in Joker 3) from newer Dragon Quest games, along with other features, such as the ability to import monsters from the original Joker 3, albeit 10 per day.
Popularity in Japan:
It's Dragon Quest, the same franchise that caused Enix to release subsequent Dragon Quest games after Dragon Quest 3 to be released on weekends and people getting robbed of their hard earned copies, so it's extremely popular in Japan. While the original Joker 3 sold over 368k units in Japan on the first week, Joker 3 Professional only sold 122,051 units on its first week. Both games still made their number 1 debut in their respective release weeks, with Joker 3 Professional outselling Nioh on the PS4.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
The original Joker 3 got its fan translation, and despite a few issues I have with it (stealth chest in Silent Meadows that crashes the game, text being truncated), it's still a solid game. I just want everyone to experience the definitive version. I also know that there are some serious Dragon Quest fans here who probably want to see this game in English as well.
What I can do to help:
Beta testing and some grammar checking. Thanks for taking the time to read this post.

Game Name: Cho~ricchi! Tamagotchi no Puchi Puchi Omisecchi

Developer/Publisher: Bandai Namco Games, Nana-Onsha, Bandai

Release: April 19, 2012

Genre: Simulator

Does it have lots of text?
ALOT of it does. (Obviously...)

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?

Tamagotchi was only seen as a 90s Nostalgic thing in the US. Releasing it to America would seem pretty weird considering the last corner shop game we ever saw was Corner Shop 3 in 2008. It also has some elements of the anime which people wouldn't really understand where the extra characters came from since the anime is REALLY underrated outside of Japan.

What is it about?

If you played the old corner shop games from the regular DS. Then you'll get the point of what it's about but IF not. This is a shop simulator where the player has to pick a Tamagotchi partner to work in the shop with and earn Gotchi (the game's currency) Along the way. When serving a certain amount of costumers, Princess Tamako will visit the player and upgrade the shop just like any other corner shop game.

Popularity in Japan:

It's actually pretty popular in Japan more than America. Spawning it's own anime series from 2009 to 2015 and even two theatrical films.

Why I think it needs to be translated?
I honestly adore & love tamagotchi and it's anime/games. For me I would love and die to see this game translated into english. Especially fans who've also enjoyed the previous games on the DS.

What I can do to help:

Sadly, I can't do anything because i'm a noob when it comes to translating:(

Yeah, no way can i be of use on such a thing, but having one made by someone is definitely needed, even with ps4, switch, and *barf* stream versions being localized. that whole 3d on one screen 2d on the other for the 3ds version seems like a cool thing.

+1 for DQIX and LBX Chou Custom

Game Name: Danball Senki W Chou Custom
Developer/Publisher: Level 5
Release: June 27 2013
Genre: Action RPG

Does it have lots of text?
It does indeed, typical action rpg
Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
The game came out in 2013, it already has a sequel (Danball Senki Wars is the 3rd game) and the switch is taking over. Level 5 is already on the next stage of things.....Level 6? lol (shoot me)
What is it about?
Little Robots that you customize in thousands of ways and then use them to beat the brakes off other little robots. Undeniably awesome.
Popularity in Japan:
I'm not sure but it has to bedecent, it has a TV Series and ish sooo. (What is the relevance of this section?)

This series is arguably one of the best series on 3DS for its fun action, ridiculous replay value and multiplayer functionality.
What I can do to help:
Zilch, I know I'm a Piece'o'shit begger but there's plenty of people who want this game in english.

EDIT: I didn't want to ask for too much but there are also some other sick JPN games out there that people might not know about. I'm posting this list to generate a little hype around games I'm into for someone to hopefully make a request.

- Danball Senki Wars (obviously) - an RTS/ARPG take on LBX.
- Ex Troopers - goodiesohhi is working on this solo for those who don't know, maybe give his post a thumbs up to boost morale.
- Cube Creator DX
- Mushibugio
- Gaist Crusher God
- Medabot Dual
- Snack World

it's really sad that there's no interest in this whatsoever from anyone despite others actually wanting an english patch. i don't know much about editing files and translating, but i have a friend who would possibly be willing to help if i asked him ( and if not, i can always help with translations or something else, i have the japanese version on my 2ds ).

Why I think it needs to be translated?

It seems like a really interesting and fun game.
What I can do to help:
read lower.
I'd love to see this happen and to help start this project here are the extracted .gmd files of what seems to be めがみめぐり / Megami Meguri's scripts, now if they're anything similar to other 3DS .gmd files there are already a few tools that could possibly work with unpacking these if anyone would like to give this a try and make it work, the scripts are quite a few but the actual text in the game is quite short, plain and repetitive so it's probably not a lot of work to handle for a translation group that might be interested in this game. Also used the 'braindump' DecryptedExeFS.bin (extracted ExeFS files) of the game to create a NTR LayeredFS plugin following these directions, here's the resulting .plg LayeredFS plugin file for NTR so the translated scripts can now be tested individually with NTR, the game's TitleID is 0004000000190a00. All the best and good luck to anyone who wishes to handle this translation project!^__^ (hope I'm not spamming this thread with these, if anyone creates a game specific translation help/discussion thread please redirect me and I'll happily remove and re-post this information there.)
So does anybody try it? I try extract gmd files (with pw dd tools and Kuriimu) and it's not worked for me :\
Game works on citra fine, so any translation can be checked on it.
Or using ntr patch for 3ds as says Dgrin.
I interested in this game, so if anybody help with getting text and packing back would be great!

Developer/Publisher: From Software/Capcom
Release: 10 sep 2015
Genre: Adventure

Does it have lots of text?
I can't say exactly, but I think a lot.

Why I don't think this will come out in the West?
Even PSP didn`t get west release or at least english patch.

What is it about?
It`s Potapon analogue for 3DS. Also it is similar to animal crossing (Felyne customization, customize main Felyne house, simulation of Felyne village etc.).
The gameplay during a Quest is a bit similar to the Patapon, although it does not use rhythmic-based button inputs. The Felyne party is not controlled directly; Instead they are given three types of commands via the X, Y, A buttons. The "Forward Arrow" will command them to move forward. The "Stay Arrow" will cause them to either burrow or stay put. And a third specialized command; for example "Rest", "Attack", "Bomb", "Flute", etc. can be chosen. Based on the commands you choose, various events will occur. Choosing the right commands will progress the party to the end of the quest.

Popularity in Japan:
Monster Hunter is popular series. I can not say for sure, but I think that this game was popular. It is too cute to be unpopular.
