Red Dead Redemption 2 launch trailer

One of the year's biggest console releases, Red Dead Redemption 2, is almost here. Rockstar's latest trailer shows off some intense moments from the game, which is launching soon, on October 26, 2018, for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. It should be noted that if you plan to buy the game through a smaller retail store, or plan to rent it, you might have your game playing plans put on hold, as independent shops and rental services reportedly won't be getting the game to sell for launch, and won't have copies available until November. Red Dead Redemption 2 was revealed in October of 2016, with an original release date of Q2 2017, to which it would be delayed twice until getting its final release date for later this month.

Why. What is the purpose of making sure your game sells less in the launch month?

I don't get it. Is that some kind of US bullshit? Why wouldn't there be enough copies?

I will wait patiently a gorgeous PC port with uncapped FPS, playing RDR2 at 30fps will just make my eyes bleeding!
If the first two games are something to go by, a PC port of this one will be very very unlikely

But maybe if the online part gets lotsa players Rockstar may plan to finally do a Red Dead PC port with this one just to grab more cash from online-only players like with GTA V's GTA Online

It's highly unwise to left out this huge numbers of pc elitists, that decision will costs a lot of income for the company, but i'm pretty sure many people just can't resist the tentaction and they will get the consol one anyway, them play it again when Rockstar releases MUCH IMPROVED PC PORT, so thank you consol players @THEELEMENTKH , for being our of BETA testers :D

Dude in game purchases were around on consoles way before people complained about smartphones being the reason. You can't really blame smartphones honestly. The gaming industry regarding to consoles has been failing. You got early access consoles being released (Nintendo Switch) and reportedly another upgraded Switch in development.... Not trying to really diss consoles but the fun time is over. It's just way more convenient to get a PC honestly.

It might be convenient for you. If i was presented with a pc as the only option to game today, i would prefer to just give up games altogether. Around the time of the PS2 and before.. it would be a different conversation. There are few if any PC specific genres anymore that have nothing to do with Battle Royales, MOBA or whatever they are called games etc. It is a wide phenomenon, companies shitting on the customers to go the way money goes. GTAV for example, is by now old enough that it should need a new release but no, let's just milk this cow yet.

I would usually choose everything at high frame rates, but given this is so cinematic, it is almost fitting to not run beyond 30.

I'm confident we're pretty close to a PS5 announcement, so I feel like anybody jumping on the game now will get the worst version. They'll release on PS5/XB2 later, and then on PC later still, just like they did with GTA V last gen. No reason to miss out on more profits, and doing it this way they might even get some people to re-buy.

Edit: one large European retailer has already listed RDR2 PC for 2019.

There won't be a PC port for a couple of years.

That's why i said I will wait patiently, and since this is coming at the end circle of corrent gen, RDR 2 will get ps5/x2 port too! And pc port obviously will be the last.
I think people are vastly overestimating the arrival date of ps5/xb2

late 2020 still almost 3 years

Well I just say it's more convenient just because of emulation, I'm not about strictly just talking about PC games. I don't have to debate everytime about buying the same games over in HD when I can do that on my PC with a Official controller or a third party controller. I love the fact that some people prefer playing their games on the original hardware, but you can't deny that you get the best of both worlds when it comes to gaming on the PC.
