Hacking COMPLETED BASIC MODCHIP / DONGLE UF2 SD BOOT FILES. Trinket / Rebug / RCMX86 / Others

Just got my trinket. About to solder method 1(seems best to me) here in an hour or so. The only question i have is what is the difference between the Hekate_Chainloader and S2_Chainloader? I plan on using ReiNX payload if that makes any difference.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

One uses Hekate, the other uses the S2 file. Both look for start.bin.

Use the S2 one. Have a good read of OP make sure you understand it.

Then you download hekate or reinx and place that in the correct folder as per OP. Rename to start. Bin. That's all.

Thanks for the fast reply. I read through the OP a few times. Everything is straight forward and understandable, except for why the two versions parts. How it reads to me is both will run your desired payload and both achieve the same thing. So I'm a bit confused unless hekate version only runs hekate, which in return means I'm a dumb ass and can't read. lol

The version 1 is an « already config Hekate set to autoboot your desired payload ». Only 2 things to do, flash the chip and drop the desired payload on SD.

You can achieve the same thing with version 0 folder or alternative, BUT you need more steps to obtain the same result :
Flash the chip, HAVE the SD configured for Hekate to boot, drop the desired payload on SD, run Hekate menu to set autoboot to the payload. It’s less straightforward

Flashed chip, dropped ReiNX in 0 folder on SD since I went with S2. Soldered it in. Worked first time!!!

No worries.

The whole method for just dropping a start.bin is just better as the modchip never needs updating.

It is ripped from SX gear and is all delightfully simple.

It powers everything up, inits SD and boots the payload.

People say it is pointless but I disagree.

Yes you can use SX gear to achieve same result.

But I wanted everything in a folder that you can forget about. And to change the fail graphic for everyone that hates TX.

The hekate version is good, but it will be outdated at some point.

For what this does, it can never go obsolete as it's just a forwarder.

Hey matty, thank you for this, s2 is working rly well and it is what I was looking for since I kinda got tired of asking around about UF2 builds of payloads.

Little issue I'm having though, is that restart won't restart the system and just put it on RCM mode. I'm using hekate 4.2 with s2.

Power off works perfectly, the issue is just with restart. Is this just my thing or is a known issue?

i think it was old method 1? the 4 wires install one but i didnt change the 3v point just yet. Is the Trinket m0 btw.

That is probably your issue. I installed my trinket with the current method 1 a day ago and restart is working fine. I’m using ReiNX though.

I have the same install and experiencing the same issue with restart so it's almost definitely that. I'll just live with it though as I'm likely to kill the console trying to move the 3v point with my old shaky hands.

i watch so much tutorial but i dont understanding ...any suggest for noob guy？
im not for this tech base..to me it difficult...

Yes, you can use any .bin you wish.

NOTE: If using SXOS, only place the "payload.bin" file into 0 folder (rename to start.bin obviously) and NOT your boot.dat or licence.dat, or it will not be seen by SXOS. Keep them in SD root where it always has been. I`m working on this.

The only options not available are a payload increase pin (to attach a payload increase switch) is missing due to no switch / pad being broken out on the board. If you are creative, you can still fit one and then the code will work with no modification.

The other one is the RCM strap and vol+ strap. Same reason. They aren`t broken out.

Above applies though. If you can break them out, then code will work.
