After five years, players can now get the final achievement in The Stanley Parable

Five years ago, the wacky comedic walking simulator game made using Valve's Source Engine The Stanley Parable released on PC. While this normally wouldn't be much of a big deal, one of the achievements titled Go Outside is now finally available through legitimate means. The Stanley Parable has multiple quirky achievements, with some of them requiring players to play the game for an entire Tuesday, clicking on a door an amount of times, and having players mess with the config of the game to get an "unachievable" achievement. However, the most notable one the game has is the aforementioned Go Outside achievement, which requires players to have played the game once, and then not opened it again until five years have passed. Since the game launched on October 17, 2013, and today is October 17, 2018, a full five years have passed, meaning you can now get this elusive achievement without cheating for the very first time. If you're interested in grabbing it, make sure it really has been five years since you last played, otherwise...you'll be forced to come back on October 17, 2023 to ensure you have another chance at it.

Why put this kind of achievement that spans 5 years? useless... it says play the game and let time passby (5years) without playing it... i dont think its worth the wait... if you really love a certain game, you will play it frequently... but if you dont have any interest on the game, you will leave it, so for those who want to get the achievement it means they are already bored on the game because they decided to wait for 5 years to play it again... opposite if you really love the game you will always play it no matter what...
What a silly move about the game developer... they encourage players to dont play the game for 5 years...
This is a game about meta jokes and nonsensical stuff, this is really fitting imo.
You're bound to get bored of a game over time anyway, so most people will get this achievement in time.

If I had this game and was trying to get this achievement, I would just set the date and time to 5 years later and I would probably get the achievement. If not, then I don't know.

Well unless you plan (set an alarm for it?) you might ruin the achievement without intending it:P

i do not know how the hell i got that achievement
Because no one has played the game, not even the OP who wrote this "news". Most of the achievements of the game were supposed to be a parody of stupid achievements of games and they were supposed to be obtained by cheating.

There's a lot of games with date specific or interval specific achievements/trophies.
Several of the Halo games had date/time specific achievements (there's that warthog one that you have to get at midnight, and several date based ones).
The last one like this I remember was in Journey on the PS3 that required you start again at least a week later... but 5 years... that is definitely genius trolling of achievements of this nature.

Man...talk about a slow news day. Not having played an indie game in five years...yup. That'll be a GREAT addition to the price collection cupboard, alongside your "1500+ APM achievement", "Played through doom on ultra nightmare using only knuckles", and "100% completed Everything" rewards. :creep:

It's obvious you didn't play the game. It's all about meta and crazy jokes.

I don't know this game, is this fun?
I loved the mod that became this game and the game itself was also very enjoyable in my opinion. They're both worth playing I think.

Personally I cheated myself to this achievement by changing my computer clock because I couldn't see myself not playing it for 5 years.

That's how you were supposed to do it though XD
