TX Announces SX OS v2.2 BETA with Docked USB Drive Support

It's only been a week since Team-Xecuter made the big announcement of SX OS v2.1 with their 'cheat engine'

SXOS22.jpg

And now they are back and on a roll with them adding 'Docked USB Drive Support' and many other nice improvements to their 'cheat engine' and a few bug fixes! :)
How do you do, dear SX OS users?

Today we are back once again with a much anticipated new feature as well as various improvements to existing functionality for SX OS. While this is still labelled as BETA we've had some good success with it internally, we're looking forward to your feedback.

Lets jump into the list of changes!
  • Docked USB drive support!
Yes. You read it right. You can now plug a USB mass storage device into your switch' dock and load XCI or install NSP content from there directly. No longer are you limited by the size of your microSD card when playing the switch from the comfort of your couch, but you can now enjoy TERABYTES of content by using external harddisks and such! The filesystem on the drive needs to be either FAT32 or exFAT, and the directories that are being scanned for content are equal to the ones you'd use on the microSD card.
  • Updates to the cheat system
    • More accurate progress indication during cheat search
People were reporting "freezes" during cheat searches, often times these were just due to impatience and a suboptimal UI from our end. The progress bars are more honest and update more frequently now!
    • Cheat search for exact value requires no initial dump anymore
For 'exact value' searches a big initial dump file on your microSD is not needed, and since this is often the way people start a cheat search we decided to streamline the cheat finder process a bit. You are now prompted with a question whether you want to start an exact value search or arbitrary value search, in case of the former the process will be much faster.
    • Automatically apply/disable cheats upon toggle
The interface for "applying" the cheats was a bit counterintuitive, you now no longer have to press the plus (+) button in order to apply cheats. They are automatically applied/disabled once you toggle them. Disabling cheats now properly works as well, so there's no need for having a dummy cheat any more to work around that limitation.
    • Ability to add cheats using the UI
Identifying memory locations for cheats using just the console is nice, but previously there was no way of adding an actual cheat-code for a location you found to the cheat code library. This has been addressed, and there is now an interface for doing this directly from our menu.
  • Show homebrew NSP icons in TX menu
Some homebrew NSP titles were not displaying their icons properly. This has been investigated and fixed.
  • Fix error 2345-0021 when in docked mode opening TX menu
People who play/cheat in docked mode will like this fix. The frequent crashes that happened when opening the TX menu in docked mode are now a thing of the past!
That's it folks. Enjoy this BETA and let us know what you think. We have more tricks up our sleeves, more rabbits in our tophats. And we only have one gear: FORWARD.

SX haters are actually impressed. lol
Most people are hating on them for stealing work from others. Why would they hate when they make something good themselves? Granted, they're the only ones working with XCI's and I don't think NSPs function in a way that would allow this, but still. Credit should be given where credit is due. They've expanded the capabilities of the scene with this update and that is laudable.

I agree. Nobody was a Xecuter hater like most try to spin it here. There's hate where hate was justified but the people complaining aren't fanboys with any loyalty whatsoever so if there's something good that they did they will also say that.

I don't care if TX vs the open source community does any good or steal any code. I'm just here to watch the drama. lol

Hey Guys, I'm working now so I didn't have time yet to test this new update, but if someone could help on my questions would be great:

- As I understand, remove the Switch from the dock while playing a game will be the same as remove the cartridge, right?
- External SSD will work much faster on loading times compared to external HDD, right?
- Using Fat32 I'll be limited to XCI files smaller than 4GB, am I right?
- No corruption issues expected for exFat since the external device will act as read only, that make sense?

That worked, thanks!

Although TX mentioned above, I was really hoping for /sxos/nsp or /sxos/xci folder structure will be working :(

Does anyone know the max power draw from the docks usb type-a ports?
Earlier this morning I my iPad was drawing 1.5A or so out of a wall wart and when I plugged it into the dock through a USB meter it was drawing .96A so that may be it.

Edit: The meter is USB 2.0 so if those are 3.0 ports then that might make a difference. Idk.

This also works outside of docked mode. I have my 4tb drive, added the usb to usb-c adapter from my note 8 and was able install nsp files directly and play xci files on the go. No pc or dock required. ;-)

But what about NSP exclusive content? I assume this still can only be installed FROM USB, not TO it. I.e. with eshop titles you're still limited to your NAND/SD Card.

For now. I'm sure that will be supported at some point. But updates and DLC could be installed to microsd or nand and the base game could be mounted as cartridge (XCI) from usb.

This was already mentioned several times.

Sorry, just got to try it. And havent time to read the whole 17 pages yet.

I appolpgise.

So how would a 5TB drive work out? Mine is, and I formatted it as exFAT, that should work, right? I'm using a USB 3.0 version though.

great work. but i will still wait for a more refined version, including ntfs support.

by now, i have no need to take risks losing data on my hdd.
Ntfs support is a microsoft thing and most consoles don't support it because they have to pay Microsoft money for that. Switch doesn't support that so i doubt that will ever happen
