it is because you're starting in c:/windows/system32 and there's no folder called Desktop in there. Go to Windows Explorer, and go to the hactool folder. Copy the whole address from the address bar, and paste that in for the cd command. It'll be something like C:\Users\your_user_name\Desktop\hactool.

When something isn't working, it is a good skill to have to be able to remain calm, and look at all the evidence you have to find out what is happening. In this case, you can see that the path begins with C:\Windows\System32 so it should occur to you that it is trying to find the Desktop folder in there, and maybe you need the entire path.
now im gettign this error, Please forgive me my brain is shot from taking a huge test and hacking today

i have literally no idea im lost in flextape memes the thread is this.

Once installed, type the following (Replace as it says):
python keys.py ReplaceMeWithSBK ReplaceMeWithTSEC
Here it says you need to replace those placeholders.

If you have a look in part 1, it says this:
We need your SBK (Secure Boot Key) and TSEC (Tegra X1's Security Co-processor Keys) before we can get the main keys. These are 100% console unique.
You need to do this first, and replace the placeholders with this.

I edited step 4 to make it a little clearer, for anyone else who might have the same problem in future.

I have been using tinfoil to install nsp files. Can I somehow check which updates and dlc I have installed? What happens if I try to install update or dlc I already previously installed?

Has anyone been banned that uses SX OS, used XCI installs, plays offline games, and updates their XCI's in OFW?

Every single ban I see comes from somebody playing a pirated game online, or used a NSP install/Dev menu, correct me if I'm wrong

You said no such thing as a dumb question so...

I have my launch day Switch on 4.1.0. I also have a jig I bought online. I'm mainly looking for emulators and to get some new games (Megaman, and the actual Gen 8 Pokemon game that isn't LetsGo). Should I be fine upgrading? Is it worth it to get another Switch for this if they're banning devices? I'd also want to mod saves if possible.

Can I do this on 6.0.1 without issue, or should I wait for the banproof Emunand if that's being worked on/possible?

I can get a Japanese switch as I'll be there soon, but not sure if there's an advantage unless I get a V1.0 which I can't really promise.

Thanks for clarifying.

I can access homebrew menu through album, is there any way to exit it without pressing home button? Does pressing exit from there corrupt and ExFat SD card?
The only way to exit the homebrew menu is to press the Home button. As far as I know, there is no chance for corruption when using the homebrew menu since it mimics the Album.

You can check updates by looking at the version number of the game. DLC would have to be done manually. I think DevMenu can also display your latest update? In any case, the latest update/DLC should override any previously installed content.

Yes, there have been plenty of people banned for updating their .XCI games in OFW.
I'm back with some rest, I don't know where i went wrong but I'm following this tutorial to convert xci to nsp.
https://gbatemp.net/threads/how-to-get-switch-keys-for-hactool-xci-decrypting.506978/

im on section 4 step 2 and when i throw the command into CMD it get this error...

I wanted to mention this yesterday but you left before I had the chance. That tutorial you are using is severely outdated and doesn't acquire the newer keys found in firmware 6.0. The best way to get keys are either by using shchmue's fork of kezplez or HACGUI. The former is a homebrew application meaning its ran on the Switch while the latter is used on your computer and requires a dumped rawnand as well as boot0/boot1.

Even a proper EmuNAND solution is not ban-proof. Truth be told, there is no hack that will ever be 100% safe. They will all always carry the risk. So far the safest thing is restoring a clean hack-free NAND before going online but who knows what tricks Nintendo may pull up their sleeve to catch people doing this. The ideal solution is having one console dedicated towards hacking and one towards online play but not everyone can afford this luxury.

Also all Switch consoles are region-free so it doesn't matter where you buy the console.

Its going to crash because I'm guessing you didn't read the Usage before running the program? You have to dump your fuses and tsec keys before running the homebrew app which can be dumped in all versions of Hekate 4.X. If your firmware is 1.0-2.3, then you must dump boot0/boot1 in addition to package 1/2. Then use any CFW to launch the homebrew menu so you can use kezplez. Make sure the .NRO file is in a folder named /kezplez inside of the /switch folder.
