Hey everyone,

yesterday I took my time to update my o3DS XL and my N3DS XL that were running 11.4 with A9LH to B9S and 11.8 plus the newest Luma 3DS.

I did not touch those consoles for quite some time now but remember that the last time I did I made sure that they both run Luma 3Ds via A9LH plus Gateway 3DS (I guess via Emunand). By the time I knew that i will never need Gateway again but since I got 2 of those cards I wanted to have my 3DS XLs compatible with it „just in case“.

Well.. now that I updated the consoles i wonder:

  1. Is there any advantage in keeping Gateway 3Ds working on my devices?
  2. If not: how can I get rid of everything without removing the installed games on my cfw sysnand?

Have a good one!

It might not apply, but I'll probably never get rid of gateway emunand just because converting the .3ds gamesaves to .cia gamesaves is an insane ordeal

The thing is: I don't know if gateway still works. I found some threads stating that I could end up with a stock firmware when I use gateway again as it does not support anything upwards of 11.4 (or something like this). As I don't know if it still works I would like to get rid of it

Converting .3ds to .cia is can be either done on the console itself, or on PC. It's not hard at all

What you need to do is move your emuNAND to your sysNAND using GM9
https://3ds.hacks.guide/move-emunand.html
This part of the guide explains everything that you need to do, down to even properly formatting your SD card to remove the emuNAND

Is this the right way if I don't want to save anything from emunand but just get rid of it? All games I got are installed on cfw sysnand.

Backup your SD card and go to Section VIII - Format SD card

Cool! Thank you! And by simply copy and pasting the whole SD to my Mac and afterwards moving all files back to the SD all my games/updates/DLC will still be there?
Yup, although I do suggest making a sysNAND backup too (recommended in the section above it) just to be safe. Once you have everything backed up, just format, restore the contents of your SD card (minus the sysNAND backup, just leave that on your computer,) and you should be good.
