Ah, this makes me nostalgic for the old EA Harry Potter games. I have a particular fondness for Chamber of Secrets because when I started playing it, I didn't know that my PS2's memory card was full until I played for a few hours. I didn't turn off my PS2 for a week straight, and then the game soft-locked when Malfoy got stuck behind a pillar during a duel and it was impossible to progress. Great times. Anyway, if WB doesn't turn this into a gambling shitfest, I'll most likely check this out.

I dunno if Harry Potter is the type of Series that suits a Open World RPG gameplay and this video didn't convince me yet.
The wands aren't allowed to be upgradeable to be consistent with the lore.
The spells need to Work as soon as they're learned and a grown wizard is probably equipped with most spells from the get go (assuming he visited hogwards).

Basically can't wait for collecting clothes that give +5 Flipendo Damage and +10 fire resistance or whatever damage types they're gonna be using.

It says he starts as a late entering 5th year student at Hogwarts so plenty of upgradeable things. Damage and aoe can be progressive. For example lumos and lumos Maxima.

Also I can't wait to see customizable patronus charms!

This game looks really cool. I'd buy it just to wander around Hogwarts, to be honest. The setpieces look really well-put together.

I remember having that PS2 game. Think I was stuck in Diagon Alley for the longest time, and I don't believe I ever got further than the Whomping Willow, though.

Will you be able to watch your character getting strangled here too if you don't pay up them microtransactions?
What about them juicy lootboxes? "pay up to open a box and have a chance* to get yourself a cool wand or broom"
*of about less than 1%

Honestly surprised to see people attacking game for in app purchases when we don't know if it will have them or how they will even work. While I too prefer none, if they handle it properly it doesn't have to effect actual game play and can basically be a shortcut for lazy people.

I'm not getting excited about this yet, but would also point out that Hogwarts A Mystery would suck even without in app purchases as it is a poorly made visual novel with lackluster design and gameplay. The in app purchases are hardly even the worst thing about it.

Remember: No Micro-transactions! If they'res micro-transactions in this game, it'll single-handedly kill what looks to be an AMAZING project!

omg yessss finally! Been looking at older HP games now for a while just because I missed the whole HP universe. I'm so excited for this game that I'm actually not going to "Jack Sparrow" this game and support the developers

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Well, it being Rocksteady, PS4, XBO and PC at least.
Definitely XBO from the button scheme showed in the trailer (X,Y,RT) but really wish for PC and PS4. hopefully this game becomes a success that the developers would have enough money to invest into another HP game

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs
  • Psionic Roshambo @ Psionic Roshambo:
I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
