I was just wondering if the Streets of Rage Remake was somehow playable on the Wii? I have an openbor emulator that works perfectly fine and uses bin files... However, SoRR doesn't work on that.
I remember there was a build of SoRR v. 5 that I used in my softmodded Xbox years back, but I haven't seen anything for the Wii. Does anyone have any experience with us? When I look online, all I find is information about the openbor emulator, but for some reason I really feel like there has to be a way to get SoRR running on the Wii, especially in 2018

kaisersozeh, I believe that beats of rage is the program that one would use to make one of those games and the one that's for the Wii, is called openbor, which is basically the emulator to play the games created in that program. I don't know how familiar you are with any of this, but check out the gameplay for Streets of Rage remake. It's pretty rad! It's basically a mash-up of the first three Streets of Rage games with all the characters in HD and running at a higher FPS then they originally did on Sega. I would definitely love to get this installed on my wii! :D

kaisersozeh, thanks!

...wait, was the plug-in specifically to allow this particular game to play on the openBOR emulator? The game has so many assets that it basically needs its own emulator just to run... or at least that's my understanding of it. I wonder if the original SoRRV5 build that was created specifically to run on a softmodded Xbox, could also run on a softmodded Wii?

Presumably it was designed to work cross-platform, from the "open" in opeBOR. If the wii has the capacity to use the assets...I don't see why not. Worth a try.

To clarify, the plugin just accepts arguments from wiiflow "load this one" - it's still openBOR

kaisersozeh, I'll definitely give it a try and I'll keep you updated on how it goes.

You lost me on the wiiflow part of your comment. Was the word, argument, a typo? Admittedly, I've never really bothered with wiiflow, because all the tutorials I've seen were kind of a mess and I had trouble following them :/

It's a funny bird, wiiflow. Hopefully things will get clearer in the not too distant future. There is homebrew, openBOR. Someone has modded the source to accept a "load this one" instruction, so you can use that modded version as a wiiflow plugin.
You can click one of the openBOR titles in a coverflow, and wiiflow will pass your selection to this modded openBOR "plugin". You can point wiiflow to the right plugin, where the artwork is etc, in a BUTTON entry in the sourcemeu.ini. i think abz's pack had a an openBOR setup, not sure. I don't know the wii port's interface of openBOR, but i don't doubt you are best to just use that first, to see if you can get it working...

Streets of Rage Remake is not an OpenBOR game, it's a custom engine made with BennuGD... There was a port of BennuGD for the Wii, but it seems it was abandoned... I have talked recently with the main SORR creator and he said that if someone finish the BennuGD port for the Wii, we could enjoy this great game on the Wii.

SieKensou, I wonder if anyone in this forum, with the right skills, would be up for making that a reality? That game is incredibly fun!

Wait, hold up... Just came across this. Looks like someone might have finished it :D

EDIT: nvm I didn't read the details. Just saw the headline and got excited :(

EDIT 2:
Apparently this is the latest entry from this guy, in regards to this port. It seems like he just about finished it, and there's a particular way I guess you have to load it. I'm really not sure what that make of this, because I really don't know too much of the technical aspect of hacking

Yeah, it would be great but I already asked about other game that uses BennuGD on this forum and I didn't receive any kind of reply or interest on it... but maybe this Streets of Rage Reamke generates more interest and someone can take a look if a good port of BennuGD can be done, it would be really great to have this game running on ours Wii.

When I first downloaded the streets of rage remake and went through the manual and it showed the Wii as a supported platform I got so excited. Looks like the developer on the Wii port stopped working on it when Bomber Games got the take down notice from Sega. Going from OP's links it seems this was getting close to release which would have been made available as a Wii wad or app. Would be great if someone could finish it.

We just need a decent port of BennuGD engine on the Wii. With that Bomberlink could finish the port, but the last BennuGD release is too old and incomplete (and with too many bugs, I supose)...
http://forum.bennugd.org/index.php/topic,1513.0.html

Bomberlink even implemented the WiiMote controls:

He said that the game is completely adapted to the Wii, but the BennuGD port isn't continued and it is in an unstable state...
