Castlevania Requiem announced, will have Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood emulated

After being leaked thanks to the ESRB, Konami has officially confirmed the existence of Castlevania: Requiem, a port of Symphony of the Night and Rondo of Blood to the PlayStation 4. Both of the games will be simply emulated, but will have "new features", which include upscaling to 4K, and having trophies to achieve. Smaller additions such as rumble support and utilizing the DualShock 4's speaker will also be present. The double pack will have a digital-only release, and will land on the PlayStation Store on October 26.

Good. My local CEX has a boxed copy of SOTN for a whopping £180 so for that price, I can actually buy this and a second hand PS4 as well.
I think I was able to get SotN on PSN for the PS3 for about .99 cents thanks to a flash sale. But... I'll buy it again.

Double disappointment. First off, PS4 exclusive. Don't have a PS4. Would have liked a Xbone version. Secondly, straight emulation? So that means the dated save and load system is still intact and no skipping the slow text crawl.

Straight emulation? If you're worried they're just going to be the PC-E/PS1 versions, then I don't think anyone need be too concerned.
The blog post states...
Both games are the originals emulated for the PlayStation 4, with several updates that take advantage of the new hardware. This includes 4K/1080p upscaling, multiple high resolution backgrounds, different rendering options such as smoothing and full Trophy support. Word of warning though, that Platinum will be tough to get. Elsewhere, Requiem will make use of the DualShock 4’s vibration, analogue stick and speaker, with the latter meaning you’ll hear a cool little chime when you pick up an item.
Just judging by the trailer alone, the framerate and resolution are much improved over 'straight' emulation.

Oops, you're right! I guess it helps to read, doesn't it? Lol. I wonder if they did fix some of the dated mechanics then. If so, I really hope there's enough demand for it to go multi-platform, maybe even PC? Please Konami?

?? every version of those two games has exactly the same save system and it works just fine and you mean the slow text just at the beginning or SotN and nowhere else? RoB doesn't have any text and SotN has like 3 cutscenes, all well paced, so I fail to see the problem.

I'm only talking about SotN. The slow narrated text in the beginning needs to be skippable or fast forwarded. And when you die, you have to go all the way back to the main menu, no option to start from last save right away.

I'm kind of looking forward to it. Shame there's no physical release, so me downloading it will depend on the price point - hopefully no more than £15.99 (especially as the PSP/Vita Dracula X Chronicles is only £7.99 on PSN).

The Ninty fanboys have me lmfao... seriously, so butt hurt about a couple of old games that were never released on Nintendo platforms being rereleased on not-Nintendo platforms... you have heard of emulation right? Honestly, the first time I played through Rondo of Blood was on my 3ds! Pretty sure I could run one of the releases of SotN on my Wii U... if I didn't already have it on a couple of Sony systems!
...such a shame it doesn't include Circle of the Moon to really piss the Ninty fans off!

What are you saying
Why would anyone be pissed about this
No one cares about it, the Twitter crowd whining about it most likely doesn't even own a switch seeing as a lot of these complaints is followed up by something along the lines of "get it on switch then I'll think of buying one"
Im sure the switch owners have plenty of ports for now, they don't need scam-nami

(This is likely a timed exclusive though)
