Ok so im currently on 5.1.0 and i have successfully used tinfoil to install a couple nsps. However it seems i can only install the actual games. When i try to install the game updates nsp files it crashes. Any help?

Has anyone encountered a weird freezing issue under SX OS in TV mode where the game would suddenly freeze and the TV would make a very loud buzzing sound, and when you take out the Switch from the dock, the screen would be in black and there's nothing you can do except doing a complete shutdown and reboot? This only happens in TV mode and with my XCI games, all legit games never have this issue.
No. I haven't. Are you running the latest SX os update?

Hi all,

I had originally posted this in another thread, but I think it's a more appropriate question here.....

I'm curious.... with the 6.0 update out now (officially), can anyone confirm if they ran into problems just updating the 'legitimate' way?
For example, I'm currently on 5.1, SX OS 1.9, Auto RCM, several NSPs installed, currently not banned (would like to stay that way but not bothered if I do).

I would like to be on 6.0, SX OS 2.0, Auto RCM, but if I update through OFW, can anyone confirm if any of the following happened to them:
- Did you get banned through the detection of unofficial NSPs?
- Do unofficial NSPs get deleted?
- Was the update successful?
- Was Auto RCM removed and you had to 'reinstate' it?
- Anything else to be wary of? (not concerned about efuses, just the ability to play all games when they are released)

I'm still weighing up the pros and cons - ultimately when Smash comes out I will likely need 6.0 to play it.

If all I want to do is play the latest games (that require up-to-date firmware), shouldn't I just update the emuNAND to 6.0??? (I saw another thread to do this).

Kind of confused......

Thanks for your time.
- You can get banned for having unofficial nsp's
- I updated to 6.0.0 the official way and none of my nsp's got deleted
- The update was successful
- Auto RCM does get removed when you update
- there's really not a reason to update to 6.0.0. It removes a lot of options such as image themes. It's up to you if you want to update or not tho

Don't use the emunand. It's basically a guaranteed ban

Finally hacked my switch 5.1.0 and using to NS Atmosphere dongle to inject payload.

1. I'm using ReiNX now. Are there any advantage to inject Hekate and load ReiNX from Hekate? Or is it fine with injecting ReiNX all the time?

2. After install .nsp files through TinFoil, I am able to delete the .nsp files using NXShell the first time. But I can't delete the files anymore the 2nd time I use NX Shell. Is this a known issue? I select the file , press delete and nothing happens.

3. One small problem. I booted into RCM and I ran Hekate through TegraRCM in Windows and realized I forgot to copy any files into the SD card. Also I forgot to delete my WiFi settings. So, I switched off the switch and booted into NOS right after that to delete my internet settings. After that I Turned off the switch and the Prepared the SD card and booted into RCM again and injected Hekate And backed up my NAND and boot0/1.

Throughout the process I did not run any CFW. Is my NAND still considered clean? Or did I screw up big time?

Thx.
1. Injecting reinx is fine. Hekate will give you more options, and you can still have it set up so it will auto boot reinx unless vol+ is held.

2. NXshell has always been super buggy for me. Try reinstalling the nro

3. As far as I know. You still have a clean nand. Hekate is just a bootloader, you should be fine

I'm kind of at a loss as what to do next. I recently updated my switch from 4.1 to 5.0.2 using ChoiDujour and I can no longer run Monster Hunter Generations ultimate (have the game cart). The error that pops up is either the 2011-0301 or that the app cannot start. I don't understand what to do as the other 23 physical games I own which are Sonic Mania, BOTW, and Octopath Traveler work fine. I tried reformatting my sd card back to exFat to try and restore my NAND to start over but hekate doesn't detect the backups I made. Is there some huge step I'm missing?

Since the only reason why I'm using homebrew in the first place is for save edit purposes, would it be easier if I;
-Restored my 4.1 NAND
-Burn fuses and update to 6.0
-Start to run ReiNX or whatever and use homebrew then to edit my save files
But if I were to do that and start playing online games or purchasing e-shop titles I would still be setting myself up for an easy ban right?
I'm not entirely sure if this is the issue, but have you installed the game card controller update?

Switch is on latest version, setting up SX OS. Am I supposed to use the emuNAND to play legit games and to update to later versions, or do I use the sysNAND? I would be installing NSP files and doing homebrew on sysNAND offline mode exclusively without updating too, right?

And can I make emuNAND without a valid SX OS license? I don't have one now because my dongle broke before I could activate.
Emunand is basically a guaranteed ban. Best if you don't use it

With the new SX OS 2.0 release, I have a few questions.

Due to it being dual boot, and not a true EmuNAND hosted on the SD, I think I'm going to not use the EmuNAND for now. I'll wait until an SD hosted NAND is available.
  • The new update offers NAND dumping. Does this mean that Canna's NAND backup tutorial is no longer needed to be followed? I.E. Does the SX OS NAND dump give the same results?
  • As I'm not using EmuNAND, am I still safe to update to 6.0 FW without burning fuses, by using rajkosto's tutorial? I.E. Is the latest firmware safe to use without EmuNAND?
Thanks.
You can use nand dumping from the SX os menu, although I personally still use hekate to do it. You can still update without burning fuses.

I have a switch from a friend, he has updatet from 5.1 to 6.0 and now 7 fuses are burnt,
Is there a way to get back or are to many fuses burnt?!
And before he update, he has a emunand backup installed (5.1) and he can still boot into it.
There's no way to go back. Once your fuses are burnt, that's it

If I get banned can I still update games? Can I get superbanned for anything else than illegal CDN usage?
All bans are superbans now. Once your banned you can't update games/system, play online, access the eShop, etc. You can install updates to your games and system with homebrew tho
Where is the difference between:

Smash Hekate => Launch => Payloads... => ReiNX.bin
and
Smash Hekate => Launch => CFW

What is launched when I select the latter Option?
It launches atmosphere

Intending to get a new switch after my 1st is superbanned. Should I use my banned account on the 2nd new switch? Thanks in advance
Your account itself is probably not banned. As far as I know you can use it on a second switch, but don't quote me on that

Are you using the latest version of tinfoil? Also, are you sure your update files aren't corrupted?

sale on amazon!
200gb and r4s with rajNX for a modable switch with 6.0.

all will go good?
It should work fine. Just know you will probably get banned eventually. I would also personally recommend reinx, but if you want to use rajnx it'll work just fine as well

My switch is on 3.0.2 and has never been connected to the internet. I followed reinx.guide and when I injected the payload with TegraRcm I saw the splash screen on my switch with the anime girl, but then it just went to a black screen. Is this because my sd card is exfat? Should I format the card to fat and try again or is there a way to get it to work?

No, I'm on 1.6 and system version 5.3. I don't have this freezing issue at all when in handheld mode, so I would think it's the TV mode that causes this, but then again I don't have this issue in TV mode with any other games.

Try updating SX os and tell me if it fixes your issue

What happens if he anyway try to downgrade?!
Will it brick?!
It'll brick. Make sure you have a new nand backup

--------------------- MERGED ---------------------------

Can I change it to launch ReiNX?
You can set it to auto boot reinx if you want

Reinx works fine with exfat for me. It might be your switch firmware? Try looking on the reinx discord for help.

Yeah, I don't have the exfat update for my switch yet because it's never been online and I wanted to make sure I was able to dump my nand and update without burning fuses before i did anything. Should I format card to fat32, then install reinx and backup nand, then use choidujour to update to 5.1, then format my card back to exfat?

Hey sorry, I've read a number of pages and FAQs, especially the ban one. I don't get a few of the terms thrown in there, so I'd just like to ask plainly.

I'm really interested in backing up my saves locally, and perhaps modding them, and putting them back. That's it, no pirated games, nothing like that. What's my safest option? I've seen the trinkets and jigs, but I also see stuff about instapermabans haha. For something as small as I'm wanting to attempt, what's the likelihood of banning and is it even worth the risk? I'm on the latest update and with Nintendo Online sub.

First, you cannot install ReiNX since the exploit and CFW are both temporary. Second, you can just backup the NAND with Hekate since Hekate supports exFAT (Hekate is loaded outside of Horizon aka the Switch's OS). After that, you can either format the SD card to FAT32 to use ChoiDujourNX to install the exFAT update or use ChoiDujour from your PC to install exFAT.

Likelihood? The only people who can come up with a percentage for that is Nintendo. Any modifications to your console can warrant a ban however your chances increase if you are running backups regardless if you own them or not. Nobody can tell you how likely or unlikely you will be banned for using only homebrew, for example, but it is low (and not 0% either).

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. Do the trinkets and all make changes to the OS that are permanent I guess is what I'm asking. Like does it work like booting to a Linux pendrive so you have access to a windows partition to manipulate data?

Hey guys and gals, switch hacking noob here with a couple of questions.

1) Where does the tinfoil installer install the .nsp files? Switch memory or the microSD card exclusively? I have watched a number of videos, read a couple of tutorials but no-one says anything specifically about that.
2) I understand the CFW is temporary, which means that if the switch is restarted then you need to do the process all over again. What about the installed games? Can you still access them or do you need to run CFW again in order to see them in the menu and play them?

Thanks

edit: added one more question

From the data that I have gathered thus far, the device used to send payloads has no bearing on your chances of being banned which makes sense since being banned is a violation of the ToS originates from modding the console not devices being used to send payloads; the external/internal devices themselves make no modifications to the system but some may require you to do so. For example, some trinkets recommend you install AutoRCM by connecting some wires however you can choose not to install AutoRCM and leave the trinket in there. Nintendo shouldn't be able to detect physical modifications such as this.

  1. You choose where to install them after selecting the .NSP file
  2. Games are installed permanently but can only be run in CFW

To play you installed .nsps you need to have your Sigpatches up => CFW needs to be run/injected again, otherwise youll see an Error starting them

Question for someone who follows the switch scene very closely. What would you recommend for my switch?

- I have a switch on 5.1.0 firmware. Fuses burnt and all.
- I have a sx OS license but I havent used it since version 1.0.
- I installed a legit game from the eshop a year ago and just finally beat the game.
- After I installed the game I changed my wifi password at my house so the switch hasn't been online since then. I could be banned I just dont know.
- I have a clean 5.1.0 nand dump before loading any cfw at all.

Now I'm bored and looking for something fun to do with my switch. I dont know of any good games out there that I havent already played and beaten.

Should i stay where I'm at or should I upgrade to 6.0 without burning fuses? Should i play with SX OS 2.0 or stay away?

What would you do if I gave you this switch in it's current condition?
