Final new Splatoon 2 map, 'Skipper Pavilion' revealed

DoAV42MXsAAtHCh.jpg

For more than a year now, Nintendo have been providing frequent updates for their online multiplayer shooter, Splatoon 2. Earlier today, the Nintendo of Europe Twitter page revealed the final new stage, 'Skipper Pavilion', which will be released in October. This means that the final version of the game will have a total of 24 maps, including the 16 added since August last year. That's 8 more than the original Splatoon game's final stage count.

It is possible that this is just the last 'new' stage to be added, and that other maps from Splatoon on Wii U could be added in the future, but it seems unlikely.

It's great that they've supported Splatoon this far, however I think they should definitely be trying to engage the community more and keep that going instead of just dropping all support like they did with Splatoon 1 on Wii U. Splatfests should still be around after the two years of promised support is up, and they should add new in-game events and whatnot to keep people playing. Or, of course, they could come out with a brand new Splatoon of some kind.

Yeah, I'm finding it odd that they're stopping this support now, after the paid online has been released.

At least with Splatoon 1, it was because they had a new console and Splatoon 2 around the corner. With Splat2n, unless there's a Splatoon 3 somewhere, the Switch still has many years of life and the Splatoon community is not going anywhere. Hoping for more Splatoon in the future.

Splatoon 1 was only around 2 years before the sequel. There is a very good chance Splatoon 3 is coming out this summer which would explain halting updates. But then again there isn't a new console coming out next summer...

I felt that the Octo Expansion DLC was sort of the 'last hurrah' of the game, im not surprised Nintendo is not going to make more maps but could at least add more cosmetics (Like some on Wii U and still isnt ported over)

I bet there is a Splatoon 3 coming out eventually but the issue is if its more of the same, I wont be getting it, I feel the main reason 2 was popular as nobody bought 1 (Maybe a hidden port?!?)

Now this is just a thought but maybe Nintendo is going to make Splatoon games every 2 years kind of like sports games are made every year except for this will be every 2 years a little Nintendo thing.

Meh. Nothing of value lost IMO. I don’t like splatoon, they just feel like the characters Nintendo wants to insert into all of their other multiplayer games. At least those sploon update videos wont waste time in nintendo directs anymore.

ehh, they were a guest character in mk8 alongside link, Isabell, and Villager and are in smash bros. which has pretty much every Nintendo character under the sun. it doesn't seem like there shoehorning them into much of anything

Well, I didn’t like how MK8 had non-Mario characters in it to begin with. But then inserting more? And why would they stick in Splatoon characters into Smash when literally NOBODY asked for them, but then NOT include highly requested characters like Banjo and Kazooie (Microsoft said they’d be okay with it), Geno from Super Mario RPG (technically belonging to Square Enix, but they could at least try to work out an agreement), and I hate to say it because it’s mostly a meme, but Waluigi is also a highly requested character. I just think if they’re going to add characters, they should add ones that people actually ask for.

ehh, there were quite a few people who have asked for inkling before. the characters you listed have been around longer and therefore have had more time to be requested meaning they seem much more prominent
