There was a banwave around the time firmwares 6.0 came out that even affected users who only used homebrew, however most of these homebrew-only bans are related to those who updated their firmware with ChoiDujourNX. In short, updating to firmware 6.0 before connecting online most likely flagged these people for a ban since its currently impossible to update to that firmware offline without hacking the system.

Of note, .NSP only bans are on the rise as well so if you want to minimize your chances of being banned, a clean NAND backup is the best way to go. If you don't have one, you can either do a factory reset to remove fake tickets installed into your system or manually remove the software and the fake tickets via Tinfoil.

EmuNAND is too new to have any practical data about its safety however I have outlined some concerns with TX's implementation which you can find below:

Thanks a lot, i dont use NSP files, just XCI and for now, everything looks good. I edited my last message, i got error 2016-1100 saying that i need to update first, same if i try to enter eshop. I guess thats good cause i dont get any of the other error codes for banned peole.

So in conclusion, EmuNAND is no go for now, till we learn more.

Thanks again!

I'm sure this has been asked before but there are too many pages to search through :<

My switch is currently on 4.1 and I have no intention of playing pirated games. My only use for running homebrew is to use the savefile manager. If I understand correctly if I want to seem legit I should connect to the internet first, deny the system update, then use ChoiDuJourNX to update to 6.0?

Once I do that I should be safe to purchase games on the e-Shop and play games like Monster Hunter or Splatoon online correct?

I've just managed to get my switch into RCM and have injected hekate to make a full NAND backup. Eventually I'd like to just put ReiNX on afterwards. But I keep reading about AutoRCM and if your battery drains(also it doesn't charge in RCM mode), so that means even if I keep my switch docked and in sleep mode eventually it will have no battery left?

Also for title updates like Xenoblade for example, do I need to install them individually 1 by 1 or can I just take the latest?

Depending on how you updated, a new backup was necessary. If you updated officially (by connecting online) then you burnt a fuse meaning your 5.1 backup will no longer work unless you use a bootloader which bypasses the fuse check (which they all do). If you didn't burn a fuse, then making a new NAND backup now is just good practice. However if you connected online regardless of burning a fuse while on firmware 6.0, then you need to make a new backup since Nintendo now expects your console to be on that firmware.
The console certificate, which is how Nintendo bans consoles, is burned into the console. Replacing the motherboard will most likely remove the certificate attached to the console but it won't unban the console unless the repair company replaces the motherboard with an unbanned console certificate; it won't be magically unbanned if they just replace any old motherboard into the console. Also I believe the license is tied to your serial number.
Make sure you are using the latest kezplez.nro from shchmue as the other builds are buggy and only work in a specific way. Also, you have to dump your fuse info as well as your tsec keys before launching kezplez. Lastly, ensure that kezplez.nro is in the kezplez-nx folder.
If you make a NAND backup now, you will be able to revert the console to a pre-hacking state by simply restoring that backup before you connect online (which means you have to ensure you stay 100% offline with all of your hacks).

Thanks so much. That post helped me tons. Finally got my keys. Last question and I shall leave in peace :) I installed an XCI file and after the icon appeared on the main screen as is needed. launching the game asks for an update. Question is, do i update it? or is this not recommended? I'm pretty new to this and am still figuring out the does and don'ts.

Have you done your pharmacy exam yet? ;)

Out of curiosity how would one go about Copy the SYSTEM:/Contents/registered folder from another Switch?
Either mount the NAND live using memloader or dump the NAND to mount with hacdiskmount. If you're going to be doing the latter, you can just dump the SYS partition rather than the whole 29 GB.

No, updating with ChoiDujourNX to firmware 6.0 may have gotten 2 users banned so I would recommend not going online if you update to firmware 6.0 offline until a cartridge dump has firmware 6.0. If you want to play games online as safely as possible, currently you must burn fuses (which will prevent you from downgrading) and update to firmware 6.0 officially.

AutoRCM doesn't drain battery; leaving the console in RCM drains battery. The issue here is that RCM looks identical to a Switch that is powered off so if you're not careful, the Switch could be in RCM and you may find out after its too late. This is because people did not understand how to turn off a console with AutoRCM installed. However, we now know the only way to turn off a console with AutoRCM is to do so while its in RCM. To enter RCM, simple Restart or Power Off the Switch; both of these will cause the console to reboot into RCM. Once in RCM, you can either do a manual shutdown (hold power for 12 seconds) or use Hekate's Power Off function.

The latest update should contain all of the previous updates. Otherwise, you can just install them all without worry about installing anything twice since there is no harm in installing something that is already installed.

You can risk a ban by downloading the update officially (even in OFW). If you want to be absolutely safe, download the update offline from your piracy site of choice.

I've completed 2 (one in January which is the only exam I can take prior to graduation and passed) and the NAPLEX on the same day as the Smash Direct in August (you have no idea how upset I was when I found this out). I'm currently scheduled to take my third and final exam this Saturday which is the law portion.

Ok but that is only if you have your switch out of the dock I guess? So if I put it into sleep mode and my switch is docked then im fine?

Correct; Sleep mode should be completely unaffected by the Switch with AutoRCM installed. Some users noted increased battery drainage in sleep mode due to AutoRCM however not only is this hard to believe (it affects a part of the Switch that is only used during startup) but there are too many variables to consider any of their findings to be valid.

Ok I understand now. When people was "shutting" down there consoles(undocked) it wasn't actually shutting down and was just sitting in RCM mode instead which causes the battery to drain, like the console was still "powered" on so to speak. I'm not planning to keep my console much out of the dock honestly (my work pauses aren't very long haha).

Many thanks for your help, its greatly appreciated.

I don't think I've had a clear answer to this so far, but if I sold a Nintendo Switch that I had previously hacked but recovered a NAND, but Nintendo banned the console after I last tested it and before someone bought it off me, would they be able to get the console unbanned? I think answers to this have mostly been agreeing that it's a concern or "Yeah you'll die, lol!" If it turns out Nintendo refuse them because they really are that cunty, what other options do I actually have in terms of selling it?

Keep getting this error when trying to use ChoidujourNX "Could not find or open 'hekate_ipl.ini"

I know the files are in the right spot. Any help?
Are you using ChoiDujourNX V101? I think V100 checks for the .ini file before launching. Also rather than using Hekate + Atmosphere to launch it, use ReiNX V1.6 since it doesn't require the need for an .ini to boot up.

Something tells me you would have to convince Nintendo first and foremost that you bought it second-hand and even then, they bear no responsibility towards second-hand purchases on account of making zero profit. However, there is only one way to find out if it will work after all but I'm still very doubtful it'll be successful.

Sorry for being a noob but not sure what that means. Im following this youtube tutorial. I was able to make a back of my nand and now im trying to launch the cfw but i keep getting that error. But i k now everything is in the right spot and i do see the file in the bootloader folder which is in the root of my sd card.

I am using V101 for ChoiDujourNX but i dont even think im at that part yet. I can't boot into the cfw cause of that error.

Good luck. I'm sure you will do very well. One of my best mates is a pharmacist. Has been for 20 odd years now. I've often spent time there and seen how things are done. One thing I have learnt is that career is meant for people much smarter than me :) But this is South Africa and they changed the way pharmacy's do business here, which was kinda lame, but yeah. Regardless i wish you all the best of luck

  • Do not get into the habit of following YouTube videos. They get outdated extremely quickly and make troubleshooting even harder considering that every person will give different instructions.
  • If you already have ChoiDujourNX V101, just download ReiNX from https://reinx.guide/, put the ChoiDujourNX.nro in the Switch folder as well as the firmware folder you want to install (preferably on the root), launch ChoiDujourNX, navigate to the folder containing the firmware files, and once you see the .NCA files, you press 'Choose' in the bottom right. The other prompts are self-explanatory

Your only ethical option is to inform all potential buyers as to what you have done with the Switch and that there exists a possibility it will be banned by Nintendo in the future. Obviously that will reduce its market value in most circumstances. You can also attempt to sell it as a modded Switch with all the “compiclicated” modding predone for the non-tech savvy buyer.

Ok thanks after looking through alot of info and just using common sense i got it working. I finally have 5.1.0 firmware with exfat support.

Now i have another issue. From what im reading it seems "autorcm" mode is bad cause it drains battery alot. It seems after using ChoiDujour it auto put my switch in "Autorcm" mode. Is there a way to remove this?

If you updated without burning fuses, it is highly recommend to keep it. Also AutoRCM is not bad at all and it does not in fact affect battery drain at all; the only thing that drains battery are RCM and users who did not know how to turn off a console with AutoRCM. In short, powering off the console from Horizon (name of the Switch's OS) with AutoRCM installed causes it to reboot into RCM. To power off a console with AutoRCM installed, you must do so from RCM. I conducted research on all of the AutoRCM-related myths and rumors and compiled them here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/psa-man...es-not-turn-off-a-switch-with-autorcm.515402/

When installing nsp via tinfoil, I have about 10 nsp's I want to install all at once using the "Install All" option. Is this okay if 4 of them are game updates? Or should I do the games first then the updates (same question for nsp DLC if I ever do any). Thanks!

Order doesn't matter but Tinfoil can crash if you load too many .NSP files. Not sure what the limit is off the top of my head but it is fragile.
