Basically none of the CFW are going to brick your system. It all comes down to you, how technically proficient and how impatient you are. ReiNX and RajNX are free and offer you just about everything you could want. Homebrew, backup loading, useful apps etc etc. They take a little bit more steps to set up but as long as you follow the tutorials you'l be fine. You'l aslo need to get a USB a to USB C cable to connect the switch to the pc as well as some sort of jig(Plenty of options, there's a thread here that discusses that) so you can enter RCM. These are my recommendations(Either one, they aren't TOO different from each other). However if you want convenience and don't mind paying 50 bucks then SX OS is the way to go. The SX PRO bundle comes with the OS itself, a dongle for payload loading and a very high quality jig. However they have a history of fucking up updates though they usually are quick to fix them. So, really, it's up to you as there really isn't a BEST CFW right now
Hekate or ReiNX. I don't know anything about RajNX, but TegraRCMSmash is good. I use Hekate 3.2 with a DIY Trinket M0 dongle and many around the internet like ReiNX.
If you want a dongle solution, don't go over $20. Many seem to like NS-Atmosphere. You can find some threads about it here

You can NOT get some random Android phone. It needs to have some thing in it for NX Loader to function. You could use your computer until your dongle/jig arrives or I think there's something around for iPhone.

I use hekate because I had issues with ReinX on 6.0 because sleep mode did not work correctly so go for hekate.
Hekate is not a CFW. Did you try Rei's nightly builds? The latest one has that particular bug fixed. Or patched at least
I never said it was a cfw? and nope I didn't but if it is fixed then that's great news and maybe OP might want to give it a try

Oh yeah i forgot to mention. You have to make sure your system is hackable. If you bought yours like in the first few months of the year you should be fine. If not check this thheard https://gbatemp.net/threads/switch-informations-by-serial-number.481215/ to make sure yours isn't a patched unit

Basically just stay offline, don't go online at all. You might also want to use https://gbatemp.net/threads/90dns-dns-server-for-blocking-all-nintendo-servers.516234/ this coupled with airplane mode, just to be safe
The best way to avoid getting banned is by making a NAND backup in Hekate then restoring it before going online to return your Switch to a pre-hacking state. In the tutorial I linked is a section covering not only how to fully back up the NAND but also how to restore it.
Neither is SX OS, but it's in your suggestion.
Speaking of brick, did they ever remove it instead of just un-enabling it... All those 'updates', that should've been in 1.
Do you mean the brick code in SX OS? Pretty sure they did remove it. Or at least they say they did. And SX OS is more of a CFW than Hekate is as Hekate is just a loader
well for a complete newcomer I would say RajNX its designed for noob friendly though soon atmosphere NX will be releasing which is pretty much going to make everything switch over to it
So hekake***, all offline, dns block, with a nand back up for when im ready to go back. And raj/rei nx is good as well? How should i handle the sd card? Backups go on there so ill need tb? Or multiple sds? (Which will all need the cfw?)

Atmosphere is basically the basis of Rei/RajNX but it's incomplete. Once it's fully released it's going to be the be all end all. As for the SD cards, you'l need the card for the backup but once the backup is done, remove it from your SD card and store it somewhere on your PC just to be safe
My personal recommendation goes to ReiNX. It's the one i use and i love it
I never saw them mention removing it. They claimed to have 'deactivated', which is hogwash. And, taking Nin's XCI function, mixing it with Atmosphere, and adding encryption is not CFW.
