If your using ChoiDujourNX to update, you can not only downgrade whenever you want but all of your installed games will be untouched. Its the best tool to update and downgrade with.
is there a way to connect other bluetooth controllers (ex. Xbox one) to the switch using cfw?
Not at this time.

I'm on SX OS, but I only ever use XCI for fear of getting bans with NSP. I got a new game that's XCI but there's a NSP file for its DLC. Can I use the NSP with the XCI and will I run the risk of getting banned like playing a NSP game? Thanks.

Yes because it is impossible to use DLC as an XCI; they must be installed as an NSP (one of the many shortcomings of XCI files). Either buy the DLC or install it as an NSP. However if you made a clean NAND before hacking, the risk is irrelevant whether you are using XCI or NSP since it wipes all traces of hacking.

just in regards to NAND backups, i have a full clean backup off my NAND when my switch was on 5.1.0, i played some games while loading into CFW and then i decided to upgrade to 6.0. i restored my clean NAND, upgraded and then made a new NAND backup of 6.0. Was the restore step necessary or could i just upgrade to 6.0 and then do a NAND backup again?

Hi all,

My nintendo switch is mod with SX OS and banned. I am okay with it but now it is stuck in Nintendo logo. Even trying all the google remedy it does not help. A repair shop quoted me abt $200 USD to change the motherboard to solve this freeze issue.
They told me the banned is on my motherboard and with new motherboard my switch will not be banned..... Just wanna know if this is true. And if I change motherboard I will need to buy the SX OS liscene again? Thanks all for reading

Hi Guys,

New here. I have the NS Atmosphere and used the Reinx Payload. I get all that installed and also installed ZerotwoXCI and Kezplez, which is used for the keys.
Somewhere along the way I've done something wrong or am missing something. I dumped my keys to the memory card (ExFat) and can also launch Kezplez. But that is where it stops. Instead of the rainbow coloured screen, I get a black screen and then have to reboot. Am I missing something? I assume that I need the keys on the root to be renamed prod.keys and when installing using the zerotwoxci it will then assign those keys to the game. Are there any more detailed guides someone can point me to? I have a few XCI files that I would like to test out.

Thanks in advance.

Hi guys!
I'm not sure I'm completely understanding a few things so let me explain my doubts:
I have a 5.2 Switch and I never did anything related to hacks in it yet. The reason I haven't done anything is that I wasn't sure if I could return my Switch to a completely "non-hacked" state eventually if I wanted to play something online, for instance.
So although it looks like SX OS Emunand does not work in the best possible way, I just want to know if I can use it to play some backups (I'll not connect online in my OFW) and, let's say, if I decide to buy Diablo 3 and want to play it online in the future, will I be able to completely wipe everything related to the hacks from my console and play it normally?

Depending on how you updated, a new backup was necessary. If you updated officially (by connecting online) then you burnt a fuse meaning your 5.1 backup will no longer work unless you use a bootloader which bypasses the fuse check (which they all do). If you didn't burn a fuse, then making a new NAND backup now is just good practice. However if you connected online regardless of burning a fuse while on firmware 6.0, then you need to make a new backup since Nintendo now expects your console to be on that firmware.

The console certificate, which is how Nintendo bans consoles, is burned into the console. Replacing the motherboard will most likely remove the certificate attached to the console but it won't unban the console unless the repair company replaces the motherboard with an unbanned console certificate; it won't be magically unbanned if they just replace any old motherboard into the console. Also I believe the license is tied to your serial number.

Make sure you are using the latest kezplez.nro from shchmue as the other builds are buggy and only work in a specific way. Also, you have to dump your fuse info as well as your tsec keys before launching kezplez. Lastly, ensure that kezplez.nro is in the kezplez-nx folder.

If you make a NAND backup now, you will be able to revert the console to a pre-hacking state by simply restoring that backup before you connect online (which means you have to ensure you stay 100% offline with all of your hacks).

So im in the process of hacking my switch now but just noticed the guy i bought the switch from his account is still linked to the switch. Is there a way for me to remove it without updating the console? I want to make a clean nand backup but obviously i dont want his account as part of the backup,.

You have to call Nintendo and explain the situation. Or you can give them a false yet justifiable reason to unlink the account.

Ok so im lost. Im trying to install exfat format without updating to 6.0. Im currently on 5.1.0. Im trying to use ChoiDujourNX and it says i have to use a game dump with a firmware that matches my console. But looking at the list of game dumps it seems no game actually has 5.1.0. The most recent firmware is 5.0.2 it seems. https://gbatemp.net/threads/list-games-required-firmware-version.485959/

Am i missing something here?

Yes, reread the list of options carefully. I will highlight parts of the list for you.
  • Extract the UPDATE partition from an XCI image of the cartridge that contains the update you want into a folder
These are common cartridges and firmware versions they contain:
Puyo Puyo Tetris/ 1-2 Switch (1.0.0) - would never recommend installing this one as no Switch made with 1.0.0 actually runs it (its a slightly different 1.0.0 with exFAT that bricks you)
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2/ Mario plus Rabbids Kingdom Battle/Cars 3 Driven to Win (2.1.0)
Splatoon 2/ Sonic Forces (2.3.0)
Pokemon Tournament DX (3.0)
Batman The Telltale Series/ Syberia 2/ The Elder Scrolls V. Skyrim (3.0.1)
Attack on Titans 2/ Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (3.0.2)
Bayonetta 2/ Gal Gun 2 (4.0.1)
Kirby Star Allies (4.1.0)
Octopath Traveler (5.0.2)
Taiko no Tatsujin Nintendo Switch Version JPN (5.1.0)
  • Copy the SYSTEM:/Contents/registered folder from another Switch that is running the firmware version you want
  • Copy the SYSTEM:/Contents folder from a Switch that has a "System update is pending" notification. This will let you pick either the currently running firmware, or the pending firmware to install.
  • *cough* xbins *cough*

I just have a question in regards to RetroNX. Is the release supposed to come packaged with any scanline filters etc and if not could I use some more simple ones from the pc build? I have been looking through the options and do not see any. Thanks for any help!

So im on 5.1 and just want to do my "monthly check" to see if im banned. Any way to do it without updating to 6.0?
I've had people report seeing the error code 2124-4007 from firmware 5.1 when they accessed the eShop. Alternatively, you can try updating one of your games or your system firmware to see if one or both throw an error code (either 2137-7403 or 2181-4008).

Thanks, gonna try updating a game.

So how true is that 6.0 is better at detecting hacked stuff? I have seen lots of comments about updating to 6 and then getting banned. Any news about it? Any news about "EmuNAND" from TX?

Edit: So im getting error 2016-1100 and its telling me i need to update before downloading the data (game update/going into eshop) so i think thats good?

There was a banwave around the time firmwares 6.0 came out that even affected users who only used homebrew, however most of these homebrew-only bans are related to those who updated their firmware with ChoiDujourNX. In short, updating to firmware 6.0 before connecting online most likely flagged these people for a ban since its currently impossible to update to that firmware offline without hacking the system.

Of note, .NSP only bans are on the rise as well so if you want to minimize your chances of being banned, a clean NAND backup is the best way to go. If you don't have one, you can either do a factory reset to remove fake tickets installed into your system or manually remove the software and the fake tickets via Tinfoil.

EmuNAND is too new to have any practical data about its safety however I have outlined some concerns with TX's implementation which you can find below:
My apologies. For removing that bit about resizing the NAND, I now offer 3 more strikes against SX EmuNAND.
  1. A permanent modification to boot1 in order to load EmuNAND
  2. An up to 15 GB file is stored in your NAND filled with files that are not supposed to be in the USER partition, such as PRODINFO, boot0/boot1, etc.
  3. Loading EmuNAND is going to create a mismatch in the NAND size that TX may or may not be patching out which can also get logged within the console

One thing that just occurred to me.... The sound on the 2600 sucked less back then the harsh sound we hear now is from infinitely better speakers we have now, back when the 2600 was new speakers produced a almost muffled sound, like CRTs made old graphics look slightly better.

I wonder if I could recommend that to some emulation devs that perhaps the sound could use some smoothing out to simulate those old TVs

I think a few of the early systems could benefit from that, at least up to the 8 bit generation, by the 16 bit generation I think TVs had gotten a lot better in almost every way
