I absolutely second this. Maybe we could utilize Horizon's BT driver to support various wireless controllers.
But at least supporting wired HID controllers like HID to VPAD (one of the best Wii U homebrews) does would be cool.

Also something that just came to my mind: A playtime tracker. I don't know if I looked deeply enough but it seems for an offline only user like me the playtime for each game is not tracked. But even if, it would be unwise to track the playtime for each title as soon as everybody is using custom NSPs (hbmenu, RetroNX, FLOG, Tinfoil).
I'm aware that not everyone cares about that but personally I do and it's one of the coolest features of Steam for me.
Tracking the playtime with a sys module does not even lower the risk for getting banned (while using custom titles), it could also be synced to some kind of webservice, allowing each user to have badges or banners of their current (or overall) playtime charts as signatures here in gbatemp.

I don't know if @XorTroll wants this to "end up" as a sys module request thread (otherwise I'd create an own thread for that) but it makes sense to keep requests in a list which could be added to the first post?

  • streaming (to PC)
  • backup service
  • last.fm scrobbler
  • a "various controller" to Switch Pro Controller emulator/driver (like HID to VPAD for Wii U)
  • playtime tracker (+webservice?)
  • voice chat service
  • always accessable web browser (overlay?) like in Steam
  • always accessable messenger/chat service like in Steam
  • something like Hamachi to play multiplayer games despite being banned
Aren't wired HID controllers already supported?

I thought, GC controllers with the Wii U adapter only.
Is any third party HID USB controller recognized by the Switch?
That would be a nice to have.
But being able to even use wireless ones, especially the Xbox One S bluetooth controller (without extra adapters) would be freakin' awesome.

Looks like only some work.
Xbox controllers are the trickiest to get working, due to XInput. But HID controllers should be doable since there's already partial support for them.

Hey. I have been using xor.play with no problems. Got some questions tho:

1.-Is there a way to loop the music? I mean, it plays and all, but after a while it stops and there is no way to turn it back "on", unless I shut down the Switch. I tried entering a game and closing it, sleep, etc. but the music doesn`t play anymore until a reboot is made.

2.-Is there a way to put more than one song in the menu? Or it just supports one. (I know in game is supported but I only use it on the menu)

Well, thank you man!!!!

By the way, when in the menu, and the music is playing, if you put sleep mode and then go back, the music will be slow and all buggy, until reboot. Hope a update is coming soon!!! your work is great.

Hey

Since you got Xorplay working, would you mind showing me some images of your setup? Ive tried setting this up with both Hekate, RajNX and ReiNX, and it just will not work and I no longer have ay idea what could be the problem:/

I would very much like to get this working with ReiNX atleast

Hey man.

Well in this moment I dont have the NS at hand but, I use it with RajNX. Just copy xor.play.kip on the RajNX folder, and in the root of the card, put up xor.play.json and there, edit the file (with a text editor) with the path of the music you want. It can be on any folder, just open the .json file and there you put the path. And finally, on the RajNX.ipl you write (under CFW and plenty of other kips) xor.play.kip

Hope you understand at least something. If you want, I can send you later the pictures by PM

its not really hard, just make a text file with

{
"title id of game" : "path to song"
}
on the root of your sd card and save it as a json file

the path to the song has to be sdmc:/name of the song file.extension of song file (mp3, wav, etc...)
an example would be
{
"0100000000001000" : "sdmc:/play.wav"
}
pulled from the github

Seeing something similar to HID to VPAD would be wonderful! I currently use the Magic-NX adapter, and while I do get some good usage out of it, I hate how you're limited to one user only. I really hope to see some homebrew software that doesn't have this limitation in the future.

I understand it perfectly, thanks. I'll try to set this up anew shortly, but for now, here are some images of my setup that I posted in this thread back when I tried to get this working with RajNX. Would be cool if you could check it out and see if anything is wrong. You'll probably notice that the kip file is not in the RajNX folder, because I don't think it was supposed to be in there back then. Also, the images doesn't show my SD Card, but the SDFiles folder was an exact copy of how my SD Card looked back then.

its not really hard, just make a text file with

{
"title id of game" : "path to song"

pulled from the github

I never said I thought it was hard, I already saw the instructions on the GitHub page back when I tried this and I followed to the a "T", yet it didn't work. What frustrated me the most was that the SDFiles package I used apparently already had all the necessary files, patches, etc. set up for XorPlay, and yet, even launching the included "XorPlay CFW" still didn't play any music:/

EDIT: ADDED IMAGES OF MY CURRENT SETUP WITH RAJNX AND GUESS WHAT? IT STILL DOESN'T WORK!!! COULD SOMEONE PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT THESE AND TELL ME WHAT THE PROBLEM IS, BECAUSE I SURE AS HELL DON'T SEE IT...

Probably a little bit of a necro with this thread, but has anyone had any luck getting Xor.play to run with LayeredFS? I know it's predecessor, sys-play couldn't run with it, but I've found no documentation to suggest Xor.play cannot. I'm trying to get some music to play with a custom theme, yet every attempt, even with no other sysmodules running ASIDE from LayeredFS and Xor.play result in the system freezing/crashing at startup on the Nintendo Switch bootscreen. Any assistance and/or pointers would be much appreciated.

Seems I'm reviving a thread :P
Although the last few posts seems it's pretty inactive here, just wanted to say, hopefully we get to see a few more modules and layeredFS with xorplay support.

Is this already possible?

Has anyone found a way to make xor.play loop ? i've tried using arrays, and also tried setting another gameID below
0100000000001000 to the same file, and even tried placing
0100000000001000 twice, but nothing worked thus far... (the audio bug after going out of sleep mode is also still here, but that's not a huge issue)
