Success. I used most of the files from the NS Atmosphere website since their site was just updated very recently. I did however copy / overwrite some of the files from the Reinx guide that were more current on the date stamp.

Up and running. Yes the first thing I did was backup my NAND. I haven’t tried to install any nsp files yet. The first one I grabbed a backup of was a xci and I started looking how to convert and just decided to try and find an nsp copy instead. Much easier, haha!

I didn’t know there was AutoRCM before I bought my payload injector so that was sort of a waste. I could have done the initial load from my computer and just bought a $3 jig instead. Oh well.

Although I actually do have a question after all that rambling. I don’t plan on going online but if I ever do, would I be safer just NOT using AtuoRCM and using the payload injector every time I need to power off? My Switch rarely gets turned off. It’s always in sleep mode and generally in the dock when I’m not using it. The annoyance I see is ever time I take out the SD card I have to power off and then reinject but I could just use FTP or tinfoil network install to avoid that if needed. If it takes a long time I don’t care. I could queue up the files to start before I go to bed or watch some Netflix.

So basically my question is, what are the pros and cons of AutoRCM?

Sorry for hijacking your post. I Wanted to ask the same question. I haven't hack my switch yet but I have unlinked my account in preparation for firmware 6.0 but Seems like linked account is required to play the 'new' NES games.

Should I update to 6.0 and link my burner account first before I hack my switch?

I will burn the fuse and lose chance to go back to 5.1.0 Or are there any workarounds?

Linking account in 5.1.0 is not possible already. Nintendo won't allow.

Thanks.
There is work being done to use the NES app without linking an account but there is no ETA on when that will be available. Until then, you will have to link an account to use it. Also I believe unlinking should still be possible if you call Nintendo and give them a satisfactory reason such as a losing the Switch, having it stolen, or selling it to a friend. You can also update to firmware 6.0 without burning a fuse if you use ChoiDujourNX.
Just updated to 5.1.0 using Chois.
Everythings working like a charm.

But, sometimes when I try to smash hekate via Tegra I see a black Boot screen (saying hekate, looks like a loading screen) but after that my console stays black.
If I turn it off and on again and smash hekate again it normally jumps into hekates bootloader menu as usual.

Whats that? :o
Hekate V4.1 now automatically powers off the console if the Switch has AutoRCM installed and entered RCM from Horizon. It will send Hekate normally if it entered RCM from a fully powered down state.
Sorry totally new to the switch scene and I've tried to look but found no clear answer. Basically, its only the SN of the switch that is needed to see if it is exploitable or not? So if I find a switch that has the correct SN, even if it's on a higher FW version(for example i buy it 2nd hand and It has been updated) I can still hack it? I read that 6.0 is a bit iffy right now, but other than that any FW revision is fine?

Thanks
The current exploit is based on the hardware of the console, not the software; that's why firmware is no longer irrelevant to hacking the console much like the 3DS. The way we determine hardware is by looking at the serial number. There is a pinned thread in this section that is full of patched and unpatched serial numbers. I would recommend you checking that thread out before you purchase a Switch if you plan to use CFW/homebrew.
Is is safe to use usb c phone chargers to directly charge the Switch, without being connected to the dock?
If they have a 56K ohm resistor built it, they should be safe.
Can we load SX OS without any bricking risk form any dongle/'modchip' now?
Also, are there any advantages of the SX Pro, compared to a custom dongle/'modchip'?
Not sure there was never any bricking risk from dongles/modchips before but yes, you should be fine loading SX OS. And the only advantage SX Pro has over modchips is the license that it comes preloaded with.
I use ReiNX, if i wanna change sd card i have to do some particular things or just copy/paste?
Its as simple as changing the files on the SD card since CFW cannot be installed but is temporary.
you think its possible to suspend an systemprocess so we can hot-swap lfs files for that title while the switch is on?
Why not just use something like memloader or FTP?

If you want to go online as safely as possible, I would recommend uninstalling it. Outside of that, the other con is that you cannot boot pure OFW without RCM if AutoRCM is installed; meaning you cannot use the console without sending a payload first. In exchange you don't need a jig or otherwise to boot into RCM which can be good for the pins of the Switch.

Perfect. I've already asked the seller and its XAJ400488 so it does fall in the hackable range (XAJ400344 - XAJ400531) if I'm correct.

Hekate V4.1 now automatically powers off the console if the Switch has AutoRCM installed and entered RCM from Horizon. It will send Hekate normally if it entered RCM from a fully powered down state.

So, if i power off my switch now, it enters RCM and Hekate will power it off again?

Correct or more accurately when you send Hekate a second time. However if you power off the Switch with AutoRCM installed then power it off from RCM without resending Hekate, such as with a manual shutdown, then re-enter RCM, sending Hekate in this instance will work. Remember, Hekate will only turn off the console automatically if it entered RCM from Horizon not from a powered down state. Anyways, CTCaer says he will work on not having this be done automatically in V4.2

But if i rely on AutoRCM never bring me to the ofw (horizon), its actually useless right now, right?

So, if i boot up ReiNX, and power it off, it will enter autoRCM but be stuck there, right?
Or will it be powered off from there automatically, yet?

Not entirely. Since Hekate will now automatically power it off when sending the payload, you'll just have to send the payload again and it'll work as intended (consider it a minor bug for now). ReiNX is a bit weirder. If you choose to power off from Horizon with AutoRCM installed and you have a power source plugged into the console, it will enter a special mode known as 'zombie RCM' where sending ReiNX in this instance will power off the console. Sending ReiNX in any other instance will load ReiNX unlike Hekate; the automatic powering down is exclusive to Hekate V4.1

Same exact thing happens to me. Essentially I just need to send the payload 2 times....the first time I have a Hekate logo on the center of the screen and then it goes black, send it again and it jumps into the menu as usual....no idea but other than that everything seems to be working for me.

Unless you want to play online or use the eShop (which are bad ideas with a hacked Switch anyways), I would heavily recommend downgrading to a lower firmware such as 5.1 which is much more suited for CFW and homebrew than 6.0. You can do so either by restoring a NAND backup via Hekate or using ChoiDujour.

This might be an obvious question but once you load a nsp backup can you load it whether you are in OFW or Reinx mode? Or just when in Reinx mode? Sorry if I’m using the wrong terms.

Essentially asking if the game backups run regardless of mode you are in as long as they’ve been loaded already via tinfoil? If so, I’ll jist stay on OFW most of the time. Unless I’m missing something?

You must be in CFW to load any .NSP content you don't own. Referring to CFW as ReiNX mode is actually better than referring to CFW since there are many different CFW. If you want to be grammatically correct, you can just say running ____ in ReiNX and just drop the word mode altogether.

Thanks again! You rock. I love this forum :)

Are there any cool amiibo hacks when in CFW? I recently bought some nfc tags for Zelda (on OFW) but anything software wise so I don’t have to carry around the tags?

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you to the awesome helpful members and info in the thread!

Is there a limit to # of characters you can use when naming something on backup / NSP's? Just curious if I need to rename and keep them short etc. On a side note: Is there any chance anyone has heard of a port of Daphne LaserDisc emulator being made? If you have any info PLEASE let me know... I would love to use my Dragon's Lair 1 / 2 and Space Ace on this (=

I have a second Switch from launch at firmware 1.0.0. What's a good place to start if I want to use homebrew on it? I've heard that I should most likely back up the NAND, but firmware 1.0.0 doesn't support exFAT until I update the Switch to a higher firmware that enables the support. But the thing is, I don't want to burn efuses and would like to get the chance to restore NAND back to firmware 1.0 if I want to.
