Quick question :
i just test ftpd and it work well but, if i click on the home button the ftp server will shutdown ?
Same thing if my switch goes to sleep mode ?
And if a ftp transfer is stopped (cause of the sleep mode), when you launch it again it will be from the begining or just from where you stop ?

thx

EDIT : Don't answer me i tried and yes it stop the transfer but you can continue it later

I just installed firmware 5.1 and installed my first NSP (Xenoblade Chronicles 2) using tinfoil and reinx and when I start the game it tells me a new update is available is it safe to download the update? My console isn't even connected to the internet so not sure why it keeps saying it.

Every custom firmware needs rcm to install but according to this guide if you're on 3.01< you don't need to boot into rcm? so no jig necessary. any information how to install a cfw without rcm?
First, you do not install CFW; this is and will always be impossible since consoles are designed to not accept code not signed by Nintendo. Second, the guide is referring to a hypothetical coldboot exploit that is available to firmwares 3.0.1 and below but has not been cracked yet. There is also no estimate on when it will be released, if ever.

When you installed the .NSP file, it most likely added a file or flag to the console that lets it know an update is available. Now that its prompting you for an update, you can either accept the risk and download the update officially or download the update from your warez site of choice and install it the same way you installed the game.

I am a noob at hacking, i have installed nsp without sxos and I got a nand backup. I want to know if you can hack to get switch online ( I am kinda dumb but i don't think you can do this). If not, can you make hacked servers like wiimmfi ( I have homebrew on my wii).

Okay, can you tell me the difference between the warmboot exploit and the coldboot one? does the warmboot(dejavu?) still need to boot into rcm too?

I got a brand new in box XAW1008XXX yesterday for such a good discount that I decided to not pass it up. I noticed these units are marked with "not safe to buy, probably patched" and below it state: Serial number in orange are reported as unpatched.....was just wondering if I could get some clarification.

I have not taken 6.0 yet etc and was curious what my options are.

Thanks for any help!

Deja Vu requires loading a webpage to boot hacks/CFW. However, we don't know how the theoretical coldboot exploit will work because...its theoretical. All we know is that it doesn't involve sending a payload via USB connection. I wouldn't pin much hope on this exploit ever being released especially since we already have a coldboot exploit that works on all firmware and is the one we've been using for several months now.

If its unpatched, you're good to load whatever homebrew, hacks, or CFW you want. But if it is patched, I would recommend either returning it for an exploitable console or, if you must keep it, don't update the firmware past 4.1 as there is an unreleased warmboot exploit by the name of Deja Vu that you can take advantage of when its time. However we don't know how long it'll be until Deja Vu is released.

Draxzelex, thank you for the quick response and insight, much appreciated.

After seeing what Nintendo rolled out last night I am not too crazy about updating to 6.0 personally just yet lol. I will eventually get another Switch before Smash to play my carts I have been collecting for the system etc but I guess I was a bit confused as one section says probably patched and another says orange are reported as unpatched.

Would I need to look into and read up on pushing a payload to the system and waiting to see if I have a black screen etc? I took a quick look and am new to the Switch scene so just started reading up a bit. Thanks again!

There's a tutorial on how you can push a payload via command line so you know if its patched or not here: https://gbatemp.net/threads/a-defin...atched-or-not-purchases-after-07-2018.512018/

Gonna buy a Switch tomorrow. (an un Ipatched one, lol)

If I get AutoCRM going, do i need to fiddle with the joycon bridge everytime I start up the console?
Or does it automatically start in CRM Mode so i can load the CFW?

AutoRCM removes the need for shorting the pins to enter RCM. An internal trinket or external modchip can remove the need to send payloads manually.

Okay, to be very clear right now, If I've AutoRCM enabled, and i'm on the road, without a dongle, PC/MacBook whatsoever with me, its at the moment impossible to start up my switch in a cfw?

Correct. Your alternatives are to use sleep mode as it is very efficient on the Switch or don't install AutoRCM.

k, great.
so a dongle is actually needed if I want it to be as mobile as possible?

Ah, with sleepmode you mean, start it at home with my cfw and put it to sleep while traveling?
How long does the battery last in sleep mode?
