Thanks, i know how to export and re inject a save it is just that i tested a fresh save and it works great on the editor while my transfered save from generations is not it gets stuck at loading save and never loads
Was it tansferred by the in game (official Capcom option) or by 3ds homebrew method? If you have the original mhgen save I can try again

Hi, i have a question about the Editor

Let's say i have my Gen save on GU AND my XX Save. Is it possible to "fuse" them so i can have each character on the same save file ? If so, how does it work please ?

@Entoptical hi, op.
i tried the executable in this thread, although it does "convert" my mhxx save(3ds clean profile, from mhx->mhxx no mhg mixed up) to mhgu. but the game does not launch, error report after ninendo loading screen.
then I tried the newest executable from github release. this one says the mhgu placeholder profile is not a valid save, wont even let me convert...

btw, I removed all mhxx dlc quest, palico from my save, also empty the item box. the possible conflict data should be minimum....

edit: i tried convert to switch mhxx, it seems the github one convert the save into mhgu size(with padding i guess?), but the data section offset still remain the same as mhxx switch.

the exe in the thread takes mhgu profile for 3ds to ns conversion. the one one github takes sample profile accordingly(i guess). at least for mhxx 3ds it requires mhxx ns profile. it should not goes to mhgu directly. we need a mhxx ns to mhgu conversion.

nvm, I figured out the file structure, manually edit it...

for anyone who interested in progress transfer for your mhxx.
here is the bruteforce method definitely will work:
(player slot swap, to be more specific.)

hexeditor open mhxx file, the offsets for the start of each save slot should be within the first 16 bytes (in little-endian, so the bytes are reversed but are the exact address to jump to when converted to big-endian), go to the offset for the player slot you want, take a 11d088 length block.(the rest of one player slot are in-game-quick-message string, no need to copy them, and u shouldn't, cuz xx and gu got different length for these shoutout messages)

open mhgu file, find the player slot again, paste it, let it overwrite all bytes.

if u got more than 1 slot to transfer, repeat the above steps.

NOTICE: this method wont transfer JP version dlc quest, dlc palico, but dlc palico you already hired are still available. u may also wanna clear the item box to get rid of those jp version dlc items, sell those xx only armory before transfer is also recommended.
btw, game may not be able to display jp characters(those palico) until the Chinese language patch arrive within 3 months.

search your player name, at the first occurance, remember the offset and take a 11d088 length block.

If its anything like the gen save, the offsets for the start of each save slot should be within the first 16 bytes (in little-endian, so the bytes are reversed but are the exact address to jump to when converted to big-endian), making finding the start easy. I'll check tomorrow to be sure.

There are also 5 DLC tickets that have names (werent dummied out) but never has localized events and get removed in official transfer. I'll find the names again and post those at the same time.

Hi guys can someone take a look at my files and see what might went wrong?

I am trying to converting my MHXX 3DS save to MHGU on Switch. When I load the game in Switch, I don't even get to the Capcom screen and gets stopped by Msg:

"The software was closed because an error occured."

My 3DS save is genuine and I went as far as deleting all palicos and items... still the same message. Yes, if I restore the original MHGU save the message goes away and everything works fine.

I am attaching 1) the original 3ds save (no cats) and 2) my converted switch save (no cats, no items).

thanks!

OP tool has some fatal issue at convert xx to gu.

currently, OP tool does not adjust player slot offset. it actually mess up the profile instead. thus game doesnt even load up.

I followed what you said but still have the same error as before.

Here's what i did:

1) open 3ds MHXX save (System)
2) find my name (starts at offset 6746)
3) copy the next 11D088 blocks (starting from 6746)
4) open Switch MHUG save (System)
5) start at offset 6746, overwrite the next 11D088 blocks of data
6) save and restore using Checkpoint.

Did I miss something?

Unfortunately I cant deliver on the offsets for the save as promised (the GenU save starts with the list of downloaded DLC cat data, which is just after the offsets in the Gen save).

still, the 4 named DLC items that are not transferred are:
Wonderful pass
Extraordinary pass
Studio pass
Gold Studio Pass
