I use layeredfs every day to play Skyrim, Odyssey, and Mario Kart with mods. It's as easy as copying files to the SD card, I've never had issues with it.
The free alternatives have been able to boot and run backups on 6.0 without any modifications since its "release".
I think I am going to have to use ChoDujourNX to update to 6.0 never used ChoDujourNX before , use to just update the normal way but i cant do that now , i can just use ChoDujourNX to update to 6.0 dont care about keeping my efuses , not going backward

Who cares what version number SX OS decided to go with. As long as they keep releasing new updates! That's all that matters to me.

I am fairly new to the scene and I do have a couple of questions to you guys: If I use my switch exclusively offline on firmware 5.1.0 on SX OS 1.5 do I need to update to 6.0.0 and SX OS 1.8 in order to be able to play future games or is the combination of firmware 5.1.0 with SX OS 1.8 fine when staying 100 % of the time offline.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First off, I would say for your own sake stay on 1.6 unless you're already running 6.0.0. If you've already updated (which you should not do), run 1.8. Otherwise, stay on 5.1.0 + SXOS 1.6 as long as possible. New games will most likely work / be fixed to work.
do not update and wait,you can download os 1.8 and replace the boot dat and stay on 5.1.0,theres no reason to rush.
i am using os 1.8 on fw 5.1.0 with no problems.
