Is it out already? i wanted to play online one last time before possibly never being able to again.
No not yet. It will most likely be released sometime in the coming days, but for now you can still enjoy online access while it lasts. At the rate the devs are working however, we may just yet be able to update to 6.0 without issues. But please don't actually update until official confirmation is released.

Hi guys. I am very new to the Switch Hacking scene. I ordered a Jig from Amazon yesterday and hope to join in on the fun early next week. Anyway, how should I go about avoiding updating? Is it as easy as keeping system in airplane mode? Any help greatly appreciated :)
Airplane mode isn't perfect. The system will try online between boot and OFW (pretty sure all the bootloaders like hekate and sx proprietary dongle dodge this so cfw airplane mode hould be fine.) Just don't enter your wifi details. If you need online later for any reason turn the remove the wifi details after. If you turned your switch off then turn off your access point (router/phone etc) and remove the hotspot while it cant go online.

Also it's usually mentioned in large bold text in any tutorial but I'll say it anyway: before you use anything like cfw/homebrew, backup your nand.
jig->rcm->hekate->backup nand and keys. Better to be safe.

I noticed some people are so afraid of losing the ability to play online. No one knows but it is very likely that updating games and firmware will be possible while being completely offline. My question for all of you who wants to play online using xci, nsps - will you be interested in playing with people who can potentially hack their games and cheat (look at PC gaming)? I would personally prefer to not play against cheaters online.
We can already apply fw updates, game updates and dlc offline and ninty superbans basically make it so you can only play online on OFW with a legit game after restoring to a clean nand.

I do agree with you about online cheats though. Emunand might allow that because it can essentially be used as a throwaway account but I imagine ninty will either get really quick at banning or just add additional server side checks to render that a moot point.

They have been very...un-nintendo like (competent) in how profesionally they've dealt with the situation so far so here's hoping that they keep it up for cheat free multi in the future. I enjoy playing backups online as much as the next guy but not at the cost of ruining the game.

Hopefully this is a good lesson not to believe GaryOpa or other bullshit you see on the internet. None of the "leaks" were even remotely correct.

Bunch of bullshit that didn't even make sense on a surface level to begin with.

EmuNAND isn't a throw away account at all. You still have to use your own unique tls-cert for anything, meaning you'll burn it. Going online on this fashion is just a fast track to a superban.

How is it their fault you got banned?
Lol no. Nintendo wants to prevent privacy, right? Now, they will release 6.0 update, which will prevent privacy

At the same time they superbanned my console, which will prevent all update, meaning: my switch will always be able to do privacy. Why? Because of Nintendo!
Nintendo actually made sure that I will always be able to play privacy on the superbanned switch, that’s why „Nintendo just shot themselves in the foot.“

I don't get how that is a bad thing for nintendo. You where and always will be able to do piracy and they know that. They just gave you less features you could use (whether you were going to use them or not is another story) and made it so you can't abuse their system with it

Are you able to access 'News' on the home screen with your super ban ?

I think the word you were looking for was Piracy.

Don't want to get people's hopes on updating to firmware 6.0 immediately but it would appear that the hacks are being updated for 6.0 with some success. These are still highly experimental and probably unstable but it would appear that Tinfoil miraculously works on 6.0 as well as ES patches (signature patches) so backup launching hasn't been fully broken.

good, I hope that all those skilled people who spent their time trying to crack SX can now use their skills in cracking version 6.0 :yay:

Cheers for the correction, good learn these things. Has anyone tried spoofing the tls-cert? I guess you'd need to figure out the algorythm and hopefully come up with a tls-cert generator for that to be viable too...

Regardless it will be interesting to see what creative ways people come up with to do the unexpected or in nintys case the unwated. I have a feeling private servers for online would invite some serious legal trouble >.<

I think I'll wait and hope for a revision (switch mini please) and then use that for legit. Until then emuand would be nicer than nand shuffling (I'll admit I don't play online much so it's not a huge deal. Also im bad enough at smash I need to play local with drunk people so besides splatoon...and maybe the 2019 pokemon rpg...im good as is).

sorry for my noob question ..but if we want to play files downloaded from CDN program in v.600 fw in the future... does that require patching the file downloaded itself or patching the firmware through cfw ?

If Nintendo is really now competent security-wise as some people say they are, it might be an encryption/signature type thing using Nintendo's private key, which means we will most likely never have such a thing... but who knows, maybe they messed up somewhere or maybe I'm overestimating them, only time will tell.

The certificate is signed. I'm not sure if it's going to be possible for you to factor the signing keys before you die, but it's going to be cheaper, quicker & easier to buy another switch.

If it were possible to create a new one that easily, then nobody would care about getting banned.

Spoiler alert: No

I don't know how much time he has left, or the scientific advances in his life time.

It's obviously irrelevant though as Nintendo will turn off their network way before anything like that happens.

FWIW the statement was meant to make you think "oh thats a long time, it won't happen" rather than "hey better get started now then".
