Don’t panic, the keys can only help so get them soon. Did you get boot 0/1?
@Canna can help more with this.

It is an OTG cable but I am always hesitant if a usb c does not state is has a 56ohm resistor. Can you find an Anker cable?

Word @thorasgar

Before hacking my switch I did a Nand backup using hekate. I followed some guide I found somewhere, but that mentioned nothing about BISkeys, tseckeys, keys.txt. My questions are:
1. What are BISkeys, tseckeys and keys.txt and why should I have backed them up?
2. Since I had no idea that I should have done that, and only backed up the NAND, what can I do now after using SX OS and NSPs (using SX OS's installer) for about a month (been permanently offline the whole while)?
3. Is my NAND backup useless?

Nand backup is never useless..

If you backed up before doing any cfw, sxos or any such hacks or home brew on your switch then you have a virgin emmc backup
If you hacked or cfw or run homebrew before your backup you can still make a dirty backup..
Always make a backup of your system and all related console information biskeys, tsec keys and your keys.txt.

You can make a backup now but it wont be clean. but its a backup none the less if your console emmc get corrupt or goes bad..

If you wish to backup your nand and your console information i have made a thread for everyone.

This one should be better than I guess?

https://www.amazon.de/Anker-Weiblich-Verwendet-Technologie-ChromeBook-Schwarz/dp/B01COOQIKU

I'm pretty sure it is sold by official Anker page on Amazon.de so it shouldn't be a fake and the cable itself would be safe? It's only a few eur more expensive so it's not a problem

edit:

Also do I need a special USB-A -> Micro-USB cable or is any cable good as long as the OTG cable is good?

i have errorcode 2137-8035
I know that @Draxzelex already answered your question, but I think I now what is going on and it's not quite what he suggested. As far as I can see you are running SX OS right? More, specifically SX OS 1.6?

IF so, it sounds to me like you are using their New Stealth Mode system. This blocks all Nintendo related communications, thus naturally, you cannot connect to their servers to update your games. In which case this is not because of a ban, but because you are being protected against a ban.

EDIT: Found the error code and meaning here: https://team-xecuter.com/forums/threads/154682-Nintendo-Switch-Error-Codes. I believe you are getting the error because of Stealth mode, not because you actually can't connect to Nintendo's servers.

I am going to pass on this one as I do not know all the details about the 56ohm resistor issue and I don’t see it mentioned in the US version of that page either. Hopefully someone else that knows a bit more about the issue can chime in.

Edit: So here is a link that explains the 56ohm resistor a bit. The trick is finding an OTG cable with the 56ohm resistor since you are going usb C to USB A.

Yup I got the eMMC Boot0/1 and Raw GPP both before doing any CFW. I did it literally the first time that I used my RCM jig and I've never used any AutoRCM
I'll get the keys following your guide when I get home.

This is the thread that brought up the question for me of what those keys were. It looks like a solid guide, if the answer is in there I can keep digging, but if it isnt, what are they and what do they do?

Biskeys are your system keys tied to your system without those your emmc files system files will not work
think of it as a password or encryption if the console does not have the right /password/ keys/ or they dont match whats on the console it will not load the system files...
Biskeys are console specific and cannot be used on another.

Tseckeys
TSEC *Tegra Security Co-processor* is a dedicated unit powered by a NVIDIA
basically kinda same thing crypto keys. also console specific
The falcon processor TSEC generates a special console-unique key that will be referred to as the tsec key
This is presumably using data stored in fuses that only microcode authenticated by NVidia has access to.

Keys.text holds the keys to decrypt.encrypt game dumps updates and other such files. also used with the xci nsp tools.

Im not going in to too much detail as i do not know everything.

Ok cool. So if I understand correctly, these will just make it so I can use the backup I made on my console and they aren't modified by what I have installed or done to the console (except maybe keys.text?). So if I get them now, it would still be the same as if I had gotten them when the console was still a CFW virgin.

YES. Keys.txt changed via system versions. Game update versions etc

Not directly hacking related, but is there some method of hotswapping microSD cards without rebooting the system? I'd like to keep one large card with most of my game library and a slightly smaller one as a testing ground for some Skyrim stuff, but even with AutoRCM it's a pain to do a full shutdown and restart every time I want to swap between the two or write to one of the cards.

NO And dont get lazy sometimes the slower route is the safest

Rename your folder or file so it does not gett overwritten by what ever it is you are messing with. once testing over rename back to original name

Hi guys. I am very new to the Switch hacking scene and party :)
Anyway, I ordered a Jig and USB A to C cable from Amazon and should receive them early next week. Before I start any hacking or CFW stuff, I read on here to backup NAND and keys. I have a few questions about all of this:

- Is it true that I should restore NAND backup before going back online after hacking/CFW stuff? If yes, do I just restore NAND, or NAND AND keys?

- If yes to above, would I lose any saves/progress that were made after the NAND backup?

Help and thoughts greatly appreciated :)

I'm on 4.1, and I tried to do the ''offline'' exfat update, and I could not make it work.

My question, is exfat update REALLY necesary?

Do you reccomend me to update to the ''safe'' 5.1 before 6.0 launches?

The pros would be exfat update, cons probably no atmosphere

Althought right now I can use everything with fat 32 and xcicutter

Backup before you mod anything. always.. this will give you what i call a virgin nand... (Untouched:ha:)
And also backup your keys....

If you wish to go online, and dont want to be banned. or very lower risk of being banned. then restore your virgin nand..

You backup your keys, for safety and if you somehow brick your nand or corrupt it , keys will be used for recovery purposes..

Follow this > Clickhere first... before you hack or mod or cfw.

If you want exfat support then yeah...

Exfat handles bigger file sizes..

Can use choirdujournx just for the exfat update by selecting the same sys version you have just tick the exfat option also.. choirdujournx guide is here on gba temp..

If you make sure you use the same version 4.1 then you dont need to use a bootloader to prevent fuse burn..

Ok, thanks so much! But, would I lose any saves/progress that were made after the NAND backup, if I restore the clean/virgin NAND so I can go online with less ban risk?

depends...
If the saves are there now then your backup everything. when you restore your restore your saves...

If you do not have any saves now and then use cfw and then make saves,,
when you restore your backup you wont have cfw or saves....

Basically when you make the backup it will backup everything .....
When you restore you will restore everything...

If you are running cfw or home brew you can run a app called checkpoint or edizon to backup your saves...
But you cant restore them unless your on cfw ...
Or you can use a method of mounting the system partition with hackdiskmount and transfer your saves that way..
But i wont get you into that as its for advanced users..

so if you have your saves on there now. and make a virgin backup .. when you restore that you will resotre your virgin clean nand and your saves

I hope you follow this.

BACKUP NOW OR THE FIRST THING YOU DO WHEN YOU PUT IN YOUR JIG IS TO MAKE SURE YOUR BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED AND RUN YOUR FIRST PAYLOAD WHICH SHOULD BE THE PAYLOAD IN MY GUIDE.

Would it be possible to add the save to your back up NAND and then restore your pre hack NAND, keep the save, and not be banned?
You could but I wouldn't recommend restoring save data for a game you don't own.

Your keys don't get tainted or change unless you run some sort of malicious software that can wipe these from your console.
