In the last few years I found that Steam is the only platform where I play online multiplayer with friends.
I went as long as I can with buying games for my Switch, until I've concluded that I only play single and local multiplayer (joycons) with friends/family.
So far I'm enjoying the benefits of CFW and I'm not looking back.
Unless an online rich game (maybe Pokemon 2019?) interests me enough to buy a dedicated online Switch.

I will only play multiplayer on my PS4. And I can always buy a 2nd unit of switch if I want to :) So i dont care, as long as I can play good RPG games offline :)

My plan with the Switch:
Right now I have a launch Model that I use 100% legid (I play mostly online).
But knowing Nintendo, its only a matter of time until they release a "better" Switch like they do with all their Handhelds (3ds -> 3ds XL -> new 3ds and so on...).
Once a "new" Switch is aviable i will transfer my Account to the new Hardware, clean everything from the old Switch and enjoy my sweet homebrew on the Launch Model while staying 100% legid on the "new" Switch.

Also has the benefit that homebrew should be much more developed and bug free by then.

I don't care for a Nintendo online service, Splatoon 2 is the only title I launch for multiplayer & for now only at Splatfests so I can easily live without it. All what I need is a couch coop and a single player mode which both available even for a superbanned console. Same for PS4, where I also don't need online MP & that useless achievement system too as I play just for fun. If I ever badly want to play online I always can do it on my PC.

I believe Nintendo is somehow encouraging people to hack their device.
Overpriced games? Lack of basic (free) features like save game management, web browser, youtube, media player (I know one could have those with a decent phone but still!).
The Switch has so much potential and in terms of homebrew it is growing day after day. Let's just give it time.
We had all those things on the Wii U and it was hacked too.
Well, Nintendo removed those apps from Switch because there were used to hack both 3DS and Wii U...

I bought a second Switch to be able to choose both online & Homebrew and haven't touch my "legit" switch in ages! The only reason I'm keeping it is for Pokemon and Smash but when N start charging next month it will be hard to justify paying for it.

Exact same here. I have an original switch, I bought season pass for Xenoblade and have some eShop content, so keeping it legit.

I won a second switch at a work conference (won a Mario kart time challenge XD) that I've hacked and am using to play all other single player games.

I envision myself probably purchasing smash and the new Pokemon (2019, not this stupid Pokemon go shit) game, although if I have to pay extra to use any of the online features... Ugh. I don't even play those two games online much, and the main thing with Pokemon is wonder trading and, well, trading in general, which I barely do.

Maybe I'll just pirate them instead. Seeing less reasons to keep my legit switch legit...

At some point I am just going to buy a second Switch and that will be my "legit" one for games I want to play online.

Probably when Smash releases.

This ^

As soon as the original Mario Kart has multiplayer added I will buy a new switch and pay for online in a heart beat.

1.) I play my legit cart copy of Splatoon 2 in OFW.
2.) I play my pirated NSP and XCI in CFW offline in Airplane Mode.
3.) I only update my legit games in OFW. (I do cart game updates with the game cart inserted, as an extra precaution)
4.) I only update my pirated games with NSP update files, offline in CFW.
5.) I never launch a pirated game in OFW.
6.) I never update a pirated game online in OFW or CFW.
7.) If I don't remember if I'm in OFW or CFW, I open the Album first before launching anything.
8.) I have parental controls turned on, so I can't "accidentally" open any games (Pirated, or legit) without a pin first as an added precaution (as well as an anti-theft measure in case my Switch is ever stolen).

I've had my SX Pro since early July, and no ban yet because I follow these 8 rules strictly, and always with caution.

Two teens in the house so just bought a 3rd Switch for offline CFW. We are a PC/Nintendo only family so the $35 for family online seems reasonable to me. Already have two Splatoon 2 carts and there are friends in other states they occasionally play Smash with on WiiU. Obviously the kids have more time than I do for playing.

My youngest actually gets into a lot of the indie games like crypt of the necrodancer, shovel knight and binding of Isaac. Will still purchase some of those that he really likes for mobile use.

Having multiple switches is much easier to justify in a family household than if upyounare a solo gamer. Nice having a dock on each of the 3 TVs in the house and since I use Shields as the media player for them will set up NXLoader for convenience. Just realized I now have 6 Tegras in the house.

With two legit Switches will still be buying carts but will be more selective and not need 2 copies of some games anymore like we did with BotW and Odyssey.

I would just wait it out another half a year. Even banned units will go up in price when the hardware revised units go on sale.

That depends on how successful nintendo are. I am thinking of buying an mariko when they come out because I think nintendo won't be...

Don't mean that as a bad thing but gonna ask you in a couple of months if you still aren't. Wondering how long it would take or if you can stay unbanned that way

I don't really know, but If my error logs are the only thing that give me away, then I feel pretty safe for right now.

I despise everything to do with online gameplay. Its just not my cup of tea I guess.

That being said, I agree on one point. Nintendo develops some of the best games in the industry. For that reason alone I keep one switch stock with all my digitally purchased games.

Then I have a second switch that I use for homebrew, backups etc. If I find a backup that I very much enjoy then I will go and buy that game for my stock switch.

i have all the sxos stuff and i keep track of the homebrew and hacking scene, but so far only homebrewed to backup nand and update without burning fuses. My backlog of real store bought games is big that i dont need to pirate as of now(i havent even gotten to beating mario odyssey, unopened octopath traveller etc). Personally Im waiting to see what the paid online program features, if i feel like its a ripoff i'll MAYBE turn my back.
