'Streets of Rage 4' announced

street of rage 4.png

Teaming up with SEGA, Dotemu announced today the comeback of one of gaming's most iconic series. You read the title right! Street of Rage 4 is indeed happening! A brand-new announcement trailer was just made available:

Developed by Lizardcube (Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap), the title features hand-drawn visuals which have a cartoony aspect as you can attest from the trailer. Streets of Rage 4 is said to build upon the classic trilogy’s gameplay with new mechanics, a fresh story and dodgy stages. Additionally, players can choose to go solo or team up with a buddy to clean up the streets in this brand-new installment.

There has been no mention of a release window or the platforms on which the title will launch on but expect news to follow shortly as this is just the first announcement.

An official website has also been released to keep up to date with the game's news but is noted to be down at the time of writing. Alternatively, you can check out the official Facebook page.

UPDATE:

The official website is now live right here.

What the fuck? Talk about out of left field!

What's strange is that just the other day looking at the cancelled SOR4 project.

For this to succeed they really need to nail the SOR style with its gritty, neon, nightlife style and pumping electronic music. Maybe Yuzo Koshiro is back on board to compose but I doubt it.

Now to go and listen to the SOR2 soundtrack!

If this goes the way we like SOR NIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks like a cash grab. This could be an opportunity to revamp the franchise, modernize it all around, but instead, its just looking like an old beat up up with cute graphics.

sonic mania went retro again and was a huge success, sometimes you dont need to modernize, you need to return to basic.

I don't like this particular animated style.

Pixel graphics or Street Fighter IV cel shaded style graphics SEGA. Or get out.
Pixel graphics would be best IMO, or at least a more faithful art style. I'm just hoping it'll run on a potato because I'm putting an old i3 2120 based PC into an arcade cabinet at some point when I'm not busy with work (I don't know what the cheapest GPU to put in would be that still performs well).

Yes but that's sonic mania and this is...this.

Making parable with mania doesn't make this a good game from the get-go.
We will see.

my cheap garbage, yet it runs most modern stuff great (not new DooM ofc!), the radeon HD 6770 GPU is ok, And its silent.
As for what you try to do, retro emulators run flawlessly.

I seriously wish for a Vectorman revamp, remake...whatever

You won't believe things I managed to run on much worse CPU from 2005. Dual Core Pentium D 2,8 GHz to be exact. So consider that a beast compared to mine, and indie games are generally fine with older hardware.:toot: As for the GPU, anything mid-range will be more than enough.

well i run G620 CPU @ 2.6Ghz (dual core) and 4GB of ram, and i can play dark souls 3 @ 40fps and DS2 (finished it) 60fps SOLID!
Also i ran, Tomb Raider @60fps, MGS: phantom pain/ground zero @ solid 60fps....

So i can confirm that my PC can do good work in this day and age! :yayps3:

(i just need the DAMN XBOX360 controller!)

Yes PLEASE! We need more side scrolling beat em ups like the good old days! Yeah the FPS and Open world games genre sells like hot cakes but we are flooded with them. Just want an good old school beat em up with today's visuals, heck even with retro visuals as an option will do me just fine.

I'm old school, Golden Axe, Crime Fighters and Bad Dudes remake/sequels to name a few would be nice.

The 360 at least had a bunch in XBLA (turtles and Scott Pilgrim spring immediately to mind). However most ended up rather sub par. Don't know why as we can still seem to make fun platformers. Maybe they got the same people that did all those weak dungeon crawlers.

I just remember number 2 being very hard.
Number 2 is the best of the three, at least to me. The first one was easy, same as the cd version. The 3rd one wasn’t that great to me. You played the better one.

You mean Two Bad Dudes. Got that for my friend when we were 12 maybe. We stayed up so late playing that one.

I really hope they played SORR (Streets of Rage Remake) at least once. Maybe SOR3 at least as the mechanics in that were pretty good but SORR improved it perfectly.
Also hope they have more than two characters and the rest aren't all DLC or something horrible like that.
Oh and if they removed that suplex throw move thats been a main stay of the series it pretty much ruins it. It doesn't appear in the trailers so that has me worried. Then again it is more of a fancy teaser so will have to wait and see.
Fingers crossed it turns out alright but I have a feeling its gonna miss the mark pretty hard and be incredibly short.
It's happened too many times to reboots and especially modern beat em ups, just not gonna get my hopes up but I do want it to do well.

That's cool and all, but WHERE'S ADAM??
I hope they won't make the same mistake as SoR 3...

And I also hope Yuzo Koshiro is working on this

paprium! it's real programming, genesis 120% after the solar pilrium, sega it's stronger than you
the pixel art paprium is manufactured on a development kit used at the time, it is compatible original material, cartridge or rom.
the graphically, it looks more like a flash, than the love of pixel art ugh!

CPU
Motorola 68000 @ 7.6 MHz
Zilog Z80 @ 3.58 MHz
Display
Progressive: 320x224 (NTSC) or 320x240 (PAL) pixels, 512 color palette, 61 colors on-screen
Interlaced: 320x448 (NTSC) or 320x480 (PAL)
here is what hardware paprium relies on or needs ... then street of rage 4, should pe
give some lessons from two passionate programmers in a garage ... vivid 2018.

i dont get it, are you compairing hardware to a new game? or old games to new ones?

obviously people dont need to make it 100% pixelated anymore since they dont need to.
