I'm glad you guys are going into a commercial direction with this.
In a couple of years you can actually make a good profit for yourselves, not just the site. With all the hard work you've undoubtedly put into this whole thing.

I think people will agree that you would deserve it.

We're still very much out of pocket after these years without affiliates, tournament prizes, import tax and more...

I'm a few hundred pounds out of pocket and so is Costello. We don't intend to make any profit as money will go towards hosting and future tournaments and more, and even then we still have a long ways to go before we're in the green

commercial direction? hah!
we've had many offers from advertising companies (yes, offers, we didn't even have to request them) and we've always refused.
We've never made any profit off GBAtemp, all the money we've ever made always went to pay the server bills and to offer prizes for tournaments.
Keep in mind we're a community, not a company or something.
For my I've spent countless hours working for GBAtemp, and I never intended to gain anything from my work - I always did my best for the community and I intend to keep it that way!

Believe me, there are still a couple of unbelievable things coming soon (sooner than you think!) can't tell you more for now but you might be surprised.

The members and staff of GBAtemp have my eternal gratitude for pulling me out of the deepest, blackest, heart-destroyingest funk I've ever been in. When Costello asked me to be a moderator here, I was only too happy to help those that helped me. This is a mighty mighty site, and one hell of a community. My hat's off to Costello, shaunj, Opium, Thug, jumpman17, TPi, Dirtie, and the rest of the current and former staff for making me feel at home here. Also, I'll take this opportunity to thank lagman, OrR, 5uck3rpunch, and Takeshi for permeating me with hope in those dark days past, and Linkiboy, Orc, veho, and tshu for making me to laugh my butt off.

..and I'm making new friends all the time!

GBAtemp ROCKS! Toadally awesome! Cowabunga dudes!

I'm always surprised
biggrin.gif
.

I tend to look at stuff from a (fair and honest) profitable way.
But I'm going to run a multi-million company soon, so who can blame me.

I have been promoting GBATemp a lot, because you guys are simply the best. I like the buttons you guys made, I might get some of those.
You guys have my support forever.

Q~

EDIT: I just noticed my avatar is gone?

Thanks all you head-tempers for keeping things real and maintaining the best 'homebrew' discussion board/database this side of Nintendo. All the best for the future. Keep up the solid work
