Weekend Discussion: What "dream game" would you want to see get announced?

review_banffner_base_new.png

The gaming industry outputs hundreds upon thousands of games each year, with all sorts of different varieties of genres and concepts to choose from. Selections such as AAA major title entries, niche lesser-known games, independent games, and everything in between. With so many options, there's bound to be something that every person can wholeheartedly enjoy. This brings about the question of what game you love the most, and what remake, sequel, revival, or revolutionary creation you'd want to see in the future. In the past few years, we've seen quite the number of hard to believe reveals, ranging from the remake of the beloved Final Fantasy VII, a spiritual successor to Castlevania: SOTN, a sequel to Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption, a long-awaited revival of the Shenmue series, a tease for Elder Scrolls VI, a new title from The Witcher devs: Cyberpunk 2077, Kingdom Hearts III, the announcement of Metroid Prime 4, a new Smash Bros., and so many more.

Does this future lineup sate your desires, or is there something you long to see get announced at one of the many gaming trade shows, like E3, Gamescom, or Tokyo Game Show? Perhaps an ancient JRPG series that you want to finally get a western release? Or maybe something that could no longer be created, due to the developers having shut down, but still a game you'd still want to see happen one day, despite the odds? A franchise buried by years past, ignored by its IP owner? Even worse, a series that was once great, yet fell from grace, that you want to see returned to its former glory?

Even with so many games releasing per year, that doesn't mean the well of ideas is dry, either. There could be an idea for a game that you've had for ages, but has never come close to being a real game. What are your thoughts? Is there a specific idea or game that would make your dreams come true, if it were to be announced? Let us know in the comments below!

No love for a Shining Force 4 yet?

Or maybe a Shining in the Darkness / Shining the Holy Ark sequel or spiritual successor.

Smash Bros Ultimate and Metroid Prime 4 were hard to believe?
I'd say Star Fox Zero was much harder to believe than either of those.

Anyway, my absolute dream game would have to be an actual Banjo-Threeie. Yooka-Laylee just didn't do it for me and I think most people feel the same. They failed to capture what made Banjo-Kazooie so great. A Hat in Time actually did a better job at it.

Also, what I really want from the next Zelda game is the open world and exploration of BotW, but with all the things that made the previous Zelda games great; big dungeons with unique items to find, varied bosses, and other secrets to find beyond just shrines that contain spirit orbs and not much else of value. There needs to be less focus on the shrines, or better yet, just get rid of them and put puzzles in caves and on the overworld instead like they used to, because with spirit orbs being the main collectible in the game and always found in a shrine, you know exactly what to expect and I feel that takes away some of the fun of discovering secrets. But it's hard to balance all of the classic Zelda mechanics with the open world aspect, making a dream game like this hard to make.

And of course, the obvious thing: A Pokemon game that contains every region from the mainline series. But that will probably never happen.

Two games:

- Burnout 3 HD Remaster for current gen consoles with 60 fps, the original soundtrack and MC
- a new Golden Sun game for Switch

My life would certainly be complete.

Something that could be nice, is squareenix and MonolithSoft teaming to re-create xenogears, with proper "second disc" story, and full gears selection (because it was planed like that, and it was butchered due to 2-year development limit reached) :D
we never know, teaming devs is possible. buying licenses or sources too. look at that 30 years later announcement of unreleased Psygnosis/Sony game!

To stay with xeno games:
We already had remakes (or more precisely a down-port) or xenoblade1 (wii to 3DS), but a HD remake (not a port!) using a single massive open world instead of separated portions would look nice.
they are making FF7 HD, anything becoming "HD remake" is possible, just depends on developers interest and money.

While we are dreaming: I'd like Witchers 1 and 2 on consoles too. I don't like starting with the 3rd episode...

If I only had one choice it would be a remake of Super Mario Sunshine I would cum instantly if that was announced by Nintendo!

Edit: if I had a second choice out of greed it would be Mario 64. They both would have to be for the Nintendo Switch that would be so cool!

That's easy. All gen pokemon in a singular world on one cart.

FWIW I've never finished x/y and haven't touched gen 7.

Honorable mention - Diablo 2 remaster
