Saints Row: The Third hits the Switch next year

IMG_0504.JPG

Deep Silver's 2011 hit game, Saints Row: The Third will soon find itself re-released on a new platform. Fishlabs, part of Deep Silver, will be porting the game to the Nintendo Switch, where it will release sometime in 2019, with more info to be revealed soon. This specific port sees the more critically acclaimed third Saints Row game receive a port, rather than the newer fourth game, or the original.

Why though? Why not Saints Row 4? What's the reasoning here? Saints Row 3 is so old it's been given away for free on PSN already, everybody and their dog has already played it. I get that Agents of Mayhem bombed, but that's the developer's fault for releasing an unplayable game, this kind of a salvage operation can't possibly be profitable.

These ports are getting ridiculous. This is going to be an 8 year old game when it comes out. I guess if it sells, it sells.

Not sure why people are upset at these ports. The entire schtick of the Switch is being able to play on the go (or handheld in otherwise convenient places) and if you want to play it go for it otherwise don't?

BUT the big downside is the potential in oversaturation of crappy indie/shovelware titles.... so there's that. Still happy these ports are coming to it imo tho

the mobile version was an entirely different game, it's like comparing gta advance to gta 3 and saying it's the same game

however i had no idea there were those kinds of phone versions of the game till just now
...except that GTA Advance was the same game as GTA 2.

I can already see this being delayed, mark my words.

Sorry, but this is ridiculous.. I could understand if it were the latest release, but the third? Really?
They're porting what seems like the most popular games from the 360/PS3 era. Sure, we get some good games, but they're old as dirt.

Porting old games is awesome, but they could have ported actual good games like Red Dead Redemption 2, MGS IV, MGS V (I still need to finish 1 mission in it to finish game, but got bored).

They could have also ported Far Cry 3, GTA V and other good games...

But I really want is new games also showing some love for the Switch, I even wonder why EA had older Frostbite games on PS3\X360 and not a single bit of interest in having a current Frostbite game engine conversion to Switch. Same for most good Indies coming to PC and consoles and only the crappier and mostly 2D goes to Switch.

IMO, Saints Row 3 was the best in the series. I can't wait to beat the crap out of people with a giant purple dildo again LOL
it was lacking a lot though just look at the customization and detail in the first 2 then look at 3 literally 2 had special npcs for specifict npcs multi layer clothing putting logos on most clothing and activitys with multiple levels some even had up to 9 levels per the problem with 3 is it removed too much

they better not cut anything as this game was hilarious nintendo want mature games don't censor it then un kept manhunt 2 uncensored on the wii so kindly do the same with saints row 3. And no mario bits just content that was meant to be there not to add child friendliness to a game about zombie you can make have dicks bigger than a horse and wield a dildo sword. they better not take that out that had me laughing my ass off they do that i'll return the game for a refund right away.

I dont mind the PS3/360 ports. I welcome them. Some of us were "Nintendo Only" gamers back then.

I'm not and wasn't a Nintendo only gamer, but that doesn't mean that played every single game that came out during that generation, let alone in general.

I just want to play NEW games on my Switch. How many worthwhile exclusives are there at this point? Odyssey, Mario + Rabbids, Splatoon 2, ARMS (Maybe), Octopath, Xenoblade... what else? Heck, Bomberman R got ported over to other systems.

Didn't they lose the source code for the first two?

Idk. I know SE did for kingdom hearts 1 and 2. They had to recreate them from the ground up for the final remix editions. To do this they spent around 300 hours playing them. They didn’t want to miss a single detail lol. So companies accidentally misplacing or deleting source codes isn’t unheard of!

Well the article said it was more critically acclaimed. I loved having the powers in 4 though, but they made the cars and the rim jobs shops useless. That, and iirc they removed a lot of the clothing shops as well, so you have less options than in 3.
Exactly, 4 is quite dull.... Weapons, Car, everything is pointless once you have the super powers...
It looks like more a GTA IV mod than a retail release.
