I hear putting a modchip allows you to put any hard drive without doing all that hard drive flashing is this correct.
I hear for the soft mod it still allows to play burnt games. IS there capability issue's with burnt games?
I kinda want to see if I can get a modchiped xbox so later i don't have to do that much work when i want to replace the drive.
What are the benefits in a modchip and a soft mod that make ether better.

Doesn't matter if you use an alternate dash like UnleashX or XBMC
Modchips have the advantage to boot off DVD and boot off a unlocked HDD, that's pretty much all.

As mentioned the main perk is slightly faster as well as custom boot in some cases, and the ability to use any hard drive without having to find one that does locking or actually do the locking.

I do want to note though that various models of DVD drive used by the original xbox have different compatibility with different media, or want special treatment of said media. This will apply regardless of hardmod, softmod, TSOP, just trying to rip audio or DVDs from the main menu of a stock box...

Not the precise info I was looking for but a start

I hear 2tb is the limit for the xbox. so adding 3tb would only give you around 200mb of storage extra making it a wast kinda. im wondering if that is for the xbox games and if the emulation games can be detected after the 2tb limit?

Extremes of the xbox, much less vaguely practical ones (seen the price of large IDE drives these days?) without going into fun like the XBOX Xtender (multiple drives in a system, not really all at onc is not my forte.
https://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=649 seems to be the topic of choice to cover SATA TO IDE/PATA conversion tools.

It seems like a system limit as well. No distinction between xbox games and homebrew for this one.

With that said are you likely to need the space? Every non arcade, non optical console clocks some 22 gigs ( https://gbatemp.net/threads/complet...r-collecting-and-history.507129/#post-8043597 ). Even with ROM hacks that is not likely to rise too much.
The PS1 emulator is kind of workable and that might get things a bit higher, also if you wanted to drop the N64 games from the list above (mad respect for the n64 emu authors working on the original xbox but in practical terms today it is not something I would suggest) that is going to be some 4 gigs if memory serves. Not sure what the MAME set likely to do well for the xbox (final burn alpha) clocks but I don't imagine it is too far off the console collection mentioned above -- you are not going to be doing all the greatest current arcade boards on it. Found a 2017 vintage discussion of Final Burn Alpha and its complete ROM set apparently clocks 9.33 GB compressed. Updates were still happening as recently as May of this year though.

Having a poke around http://www.abgx.net/filename/ then we could start to put numbers together for a complete collection of commercial xbox games. Sadly it does not have a size listing in that text file and sizes were quite variable (most games in Scene releases were between 1 and 3 gigs in my experience, though plenty went higher), to say nothing of the ability to trim things. Also if you wanted then DVDs are an option in this.
Knock out the Japanese dupes and either NA or PAL region dupes and that number will drop considerably (PAL releases were also often split by country). Go further and weed out things you would rather have on PC (any PC still vaguely workable for day to day stuff will be able to play every xbox era game happily). Further still and trim the fat (do you really care for Antz Extreme Racing?) and things get better. Nothing stopping you from holding some of these... less likely to be played titles in reserve on your PC somewhere as well and maybe even create scripts to copy it down from a network share somewhere.

While you could still use it as a media player too that can be done over network which you could build a NAS for if you wanted, and I would say get a raspberry pi or anything that supports a proper version of kodi instead as it is far more modern and handles things far better.
Commercial games being straight network loaded is not going to happen outside of SAN scenarios (don't), some homebrew stuff could be done but with the stuff covered above it hardly seems worth it.

OK i got a offer to get a aladiin chiped xbox. it already comes with a harddrive that is sata but it's smaller size. Wondering if it's possible to drop a pre made harddrive with all the iso's from someone else? Or do I need to install the dash or does it format the drive when installing the dash? I need to know asap the guy is waiting on a reply.
He asked what dashboard i want. what should i get? Im not keeping that harddrive for long thou if i can get a pre loaded biger drive.

For the most part a dash is a dash. Some have a different name/pass by default on the FTP. XBMC boots a bit slower but is also a media player. You can always boot XBMC (or any other dash) as an application and use that. All play games happily enough.
I always went with XBMC because I wanted a media play, today I can see chucking media player duties to a rasp pi or something. If not XBMC then I imagine most go either for evolutionx aka evox or unleashx.

You should be able to build up a valid hard drive image for a new to use hardmodded device if you want.

can i see a guide.
It would be easier for me just to get a harddrive with all the games installed with the dashboard installed and all that and just put it in the xbox. Or does it not work like that?

I normally just copy things from the stock drive and create/format new partitions as necessary. Similarly if you are using a chip (which means you have no need for a locked drive and your EEPROM file) you can get something like AID and boot off the DVD drive, use AID to format and copy the relevant files and go from there. Game wise if you have them on your PC's drive you can then use one of the nice automated tools to extract the isos to your xbox's FTP server and go from there.

If you absolutely must I guess you could put together a drive beforehand to just drop in there. We are a bit outside my wheelhouse here as I much prefer to do as much as I can on the xbox itself, not to mention usually go in for softmods. If you made a misstep for one of the earlier aspects you might find debugging it harder, not to mention if you have just copied however many TB of data if you end up reformatting it then you would have to copy it off first (or be in a position to regenerate it) to go back on later. If it was a matter of restoring a backup of a working drive to it, maybe adding or expanding a partition along the way, then that would be one thing but there are way too many variables at play here for my liking for myself, never mind if this is all really new to you. Also you don't necessarily know that the SATA drive will work with your adapter.
Anyway you would want to format it to the FATX with all the relevant partitions, sector sizes and everything else those large drive guides want. You would then want to install a dash on it that your modchip will boot (you already know it is an aladdin, https://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-sortby-.html should have something) as this can be different to what softmods expect. You would then need to get the isos in a format the xbox understands (just a matter of unpacking them, loads of Windows tools for this task, many are aimed at either FTP or making multi game discs for burning but will happily unpack things too) and copying them to the drive (fewer simple windows programs to handle this as most use FTP on the xbox itself and copy things over network, some of the 360 focused ones were starting to add nice options for the original xbox but I did not keep up with that side of things).
