Nothing beats it yet :P

It does look fantastic though, very clean board and quality engineering. Clever to use an NPN transistor so the chip can keep itself alive. Awesome job mate!

Thank you! I'm glad you like design :-) It's not yet ordered, so if you have some ideas for improvements to make it even better, there is still some time. I'll probably order the pcbs this weekend.
Anyway, thanks for the feedback!

Of course! Us makers have to stick together :)

My dongle project is external only and I have no intentions to make an internal one, so I'm not sure if it'd help, but if you'd like to have a look at my thread maybe it'll give you an idea or two. If you have any ideas of your own I'd like to hear them as well ^_^

Hi Guys and Girls,

I just wanted to show you my "quick and dirty" Payload-Dongle build.

It's mainly based on a trinketM0, which a got from Amazon, using an early version of the firmware provided by mattytrog and is powered by a 750 mAh LiPo-Battery (because I had them lying around); the pushbutton just connects the Vcc from the battery, so you have to keep it pressed for a few seconds until the payload was injected. I haven't come to around to adapt it to the current "multi-payload-firmware" with payload-selection.

I designed the housing using 'Siemens NX 10' (CAD/PLM-Software) and printed it on my 'Tevo Tarantula'... yeah, I know, it's much to large but it keeps the electronics safe and it's very hard to loose because of it's size :rolleyes:

I don't use a "classic jig" but I've solder a reed-switch into my right JoyCon (sorry, didn't make pictures of that) which I find to be a very convenient way to enter RCM.

Nice and simple build, and loads of room to park a bus in there love it :P

I did some small changes in my board and finally ordered it. :-D

The new schematic looks like this:

and the board like that:

How do you reset it ? i dont see no switch or button ?
SwitchWiring2.jpg
The idea is to wire to all three buttons. As you have to press power and vol+, these two signals power the trinket on. the vol- button is used to reset the m0.

interesting idea. But wouldn't you reset it this way every time you press volume down? (probably no difference in battery life or lifespan, but still).

Then you either can't reset it after those 10 secs ever (probably till wake up), or you just can't reset it every 10 seconds...
Well i was just saying that the trinket when volume down is pressed does not reset till after 10 secs of holding down, 10 secs is more then anoth time to use volume down slider . get me or not ? il just shut up haha

No, when you press power and v+ the chip turns on runs the code and then turns itself off - no power.

If you want to add a new payload to the board - you connect to your pc and the power from the pc supplies the enable pin - so you can turn the chip on and it stays on, to reprogram, you hit reset twice. When you remove from a USB port - the enable pin is not powered unless you hold power and v+, so resetting would turn the board off again.

Oh. Ok. Didn't catch you the first time :D. That should definitely work.

That's not how it works, unless there is IC which turns it off (closes power to it or idk how to say that).
The chip is constantly on and only goes to deep sleep when not pushing the payload (so after success or fail). Reset resets it and spike (high idk) on pin 4 wakes it up.
