TX Announces SX OS v1.5 with 'even more features'

TX is still busy working on the currently 'unhackable switch'es'

In the meantime they have recently produced yet another update to their SX OS v1.5, and as usual its packed with new features as you can see detailed below in their official 'changelog':

sx15.jpg

Another day, another small update with some convenient new functionality for SX OS!

Lets have a look at whats new:
  • Added mass NSP install (and optional delete) functionality
Users who want to install a lot of NSP titles at once can now easily do so by pressing [Y] in the installer tab. Upon finish the NSP installer will also ask you if you want to delete the NSP source files from your microSD card, freeing up space and keeping every neat and tidy!
  • FTP server support
You can now enable a FTP server from the options tab in our menu that will keep running even once the menu is closed. This FTP server gives direct access to your microSD card, so you no longer have to eject the card to store/retrieve files.
  • More content directories
Some people complained that they didn't like all the XCI/NSP/NRO files in the root of their SD card. We have to agree that becomes a bit messy, so the menu will now scan the following directories as well looking for game content:
    • /sxos/games
    • /sxos/xci
    • /sxos/nsp
    • /sxos
    • /switch/games
    • /switch/xci
    • /switch/nsp
    • /switch
We hope you enjoy this release!

Once again we would like to thank everyone for their suggestions and their support.

More exciting functionality for all of our end-users is being worked on as we speak. Hang in there with us, your loyalty will be rewarded!

Depends on the transfer rate surely its faster to remove sd and place in pc ??
Yes its faster to transfer direct from PC to sd card but the whole reason for using FTP is convenience and not having to remove the sd card from the switch. That comes at a cost of speed though... So if you're not in a hurry, then you are golden.

yes but not when you have to power off , then pull sd.
thats how i do it, or.. can you actually safely keep your switch in sleep mode or/awake and just take out the sd with no issues?

Always have to power off. If you pull the card when the switch is on or sleeping it will complain and make you power down anyway :(.

Powering off and removing sd card and powering back on after is still faster,
But i guess it comes down to the size of the file, if its tiny no need just ftp if its large file then me personally would remove sd card, i dont mind using my hands :P

Im not sure about pulling the sd in sleep, im sure the horizon says oh wait you pulled me brains out i need to restart

Better off using memload (Yes you have to run another payload, but it saves from removing microsd card (and prevents wear and tear). It is limited to 6mb per second but usually should be faster and more reliable than using FTP

So to use ftp you need to be in SX os without airplane mode on? Won't use it then, still trying to avoid the ban at all costs. Also how are the speeds? Tbh I'm using a Chinese sd transfer so yeah not the fastest thing.

you could set the IP manually and use dummy IP for the gateway (or if possible, leave it blank)
this way the Switch still connect to the network but no internet because there are no gateway

the WiFi icon on the home screen will show usual signal icon but grey/not white

Maybe you should read a little better, i never mentioned deleting anything, you mentioned about having to move your files in and out of there folders , i told you to use nxshell.
Which will make it a little easier for you to do this and allow you to do that on the console.

I was replying to what subcon959 said.

then why mention me ? Does not matter you got a answer anyway

I asked why you said nxshell, they replied delete nsp files and then I replied I didn't say anything about deleting nsp files and mentioned you.

But ye it doesn't matter and I got the answer, cheers. :)

Folder organisation is nice. Tried putting boot.dat and licence in my newly created sxos folder to make it even more tidy, it didn't work.

Did find a quick and easy way to have sxos show .xci games in alphabetical order when the switch is booted. Drag all games from one folder to another and back again. That will have to do for me until tx make sxos do it automatically.

Thanks, I have now done this too. I assume they're working on getting this fixed automatically instead on having to rely on this workaround.

And during this time, have been playing with SX OS for months now, without any problem.
Nope, haven't had any issues with its usability either. However, I much prefer an open-source solution. Especially since ReiNX/Hekate now offer many many more features in the form of additional kips. Just like what happened to Gateway, there's no real reason to purchase SX OS anymore...

It offers ease of use. Copy one file to your sd card and as long as you have a license you are good to go! I for one will stick with it until hekate/atmos/insert random name here eclipses the Sx feature set with some killer and exclusive features. But hey that prob won’t happen cos TX will just pirate the code and add it to sx, sooooo looks like I’m golden for a while yet
Agreed on the ease of use point, but not anywhere else. The open-source solutions already far eclipse SX OS in features, just go to the Homebrew section of this very forum and take a look at the number of additional features that can be installed to gimp SX OS. Cheat plugins, audio players, and a not broken Homebrew launcher are just a few. Not to mention being able to use them the instant they come out, instead of having to wait for TX to copy-paste it and release a new version after a few weeks.

More features than you could shake a stick at.

More?
More?
You must first seperate the features into smaller groups, and shake the stick at each group individually.

I think tx has done an excellent job. I do agree that this could have been 4.1 but maybe they just like cardinal numbers. I can get behind that. Cleaner folder structures are awesome for that little ocd in us all and the streamlined nsp features are great for those using nsps! Hell, I bought the pro just because I wanted to the dongle to go in my little switch protective case so I have a nice portable sollution and it is an elegant and well made solution. I really like the quality of the Jig too.

I have an android phone and sure I could have gone for a usb c to usb cable and lauch a payload from my phone (I think thats how it works.) But given the option I prefer this and the support has been great.
The fact that sx os has practically no bans compared to those runnning other cfw is just icing on the cake. I suspect it's because NSPs seem to leave lots of traces and until recently people were only running XCIs on sx but time will tell.
